Well hydra blue has taken the place of most black in the models now, only leaving black face masks on the chaos warriors.

The boots are the rhinox hide color that the beastmen hair is and is even highlighted with the same fur highlights, just not as much.

Still have to wash the blue with Coelia Greenshade and finish the bone color on the chaos warrior armor trims. Then basing will have to be finalized and decals applied.

Thanks Youashock , I blame it on Dr. H as he’s the one that suggested another color.

Team photo

Still needs basing, and I just redid the facemasks on the chaos warriors to a base to make them bone colored, more layers needed there, but getting ready for work now.

Not sure which I’ll start next, Dark Elves or skaven, for skaven I want to grab a single rat ogre and the shadespire skaven team to add to the group, but that might take a while. Also need color choices for both, so if anybody has suggestions I’m up to hearing them.

Cool. They are going to look pretty good with that green basing.

I vote Dark Elves. Colorwise, do you think something more traditional (purple, dark blue, black) or something unusual?

I’m leaning to the Dark Elf side as well, not sure on color though. Had some thought of doing grey colors with a red team logo. I was thinking of a broken heart design and calling them the Creve Coeur Killers or something as I grew up in a suburb of St. Louis called Creve Coeur (broken heart in French)

Thanks Dr. H, I always look to you for color advice, your orange and white ancient marine makes me jealous. You just need me to win the lottery to hire you full time .

I’ve been watching the N&R section with the glimpses of the new chaos guys and I have to say I’m trying really hard not to get back into 40K with a revamped Iron Warriors...I definitely can not afford that sinkhole.

Thanks Llamahead,

I’m going to do a bit more thinking on skin tones for these guys, and probably not nailed down on colors yet, but while assembling them I was getting an inspirational vibe of salamanders from 40k. I know it’s just from the scale cloth they are wearing, but the leather uniforms got me thinking that I wish I could get a bunch more of these guys and 40kify them into a Nocture Imperial guard unit. So they might wind up being dark skinned with red eyes for no reason whatsoever .

I have to call GW customer service because I’m missing an arm off of one of the sprues, so maybe I’ll wind up with spares after all .

Work offered O.T. This weekend because we are seriously short handed (we have been for the 5.5 years I’ve been there, but even worse right now) and they were expecting 6-10” of snow and ice. So on top of the overtime we got an extra $5 an hour and if we slept at the hospital in available space then they paid us minimum wage just for sleeping there . Well I worked doubles both Saturday and Sunday, getting 31.5 hours of work in between 8:30 Saturday morning and midnight last night. The rest of the time was 8 hours of sleep and lunch breaks. I haven’t given my work any overtime there (30minutes over the last 3.5 years) because of the crappy sub contracted management we have, but this next month is the twins birthday next week, my anniversary in three weeks, my wife out of town the weekend after that and then our oldest birthday next month , so extra cash is good. Just got 8 hours of interrupted sleep this morning and then finished assembling the Dark Elves minus the one arm.

Leaving for work shortly, thanks for looking.

i´ve looked...so i am taking my thx...

i am expecting most of the recent stuff is from blood bowl? third party? looking good... model wise and paint wise!

i see now...double shifts...and catching the odd eye of sleep when possible...well...the dumb part with OT working hours is the taxes often destroy the effort made during these hours...so in essence you might come of poorer as with regular shifts... at least that´s with the tax system here... it is regulated in steps...and if you come over a tiny bit of income amount too much...then *puff* the money you worked for goes straight down the drain...(well drain as in all the government thought up stuff...)

Yep vik they are blood bowl models, all new GW plastic teams from the last couple years, except the big beast an which is a model from the Massive Darkness board game.

Taxes suck.....I’ll leave it at that

I don’t want that work schedule forever, but it was a good workout and got my juices flowing. I’m wiped out, but feeling good.

Called GW, was told to send an email, awaiting response for the missing part. They wanted receipts, but I try not to keep any of those around for the wife to find .

Oh I get it, but I just want the arm that I’m missing. It’s not like I want a left arm from one kit a right from another, a head from a third and the legs and body from a fourth just to make a conversion piece. There are always obvious thieves who will milk a system and then those are easy to see. If petey calls every week missing sprues then maybe Petey needs to open the boxes at the shop. I feel bad when I contact Warlordgames for missing parts because I’ve had too SEVERAL times on different kits. I’ve only ever contacted GW the one time even though when they did metals I missed more parts. I’ve gotten replacements from Knight Models, GCTstudious (Bushido) and others with very little effort. Even Warlordgames gives you very little guff just asking for the packers name which comes on little slips of paper in the boxes. GW is asking now for the 11 digit product code (don’t give us the name of the kit that we sell, they are silly names ), reciept from the store including their contact info and date of purchase. I guess when you charge insane prices on things people tend to milk the system though. The only Company I’ve had real issues with are Mantic though. I was one of many Kickstarter backers that didn’t get their orders and were called liars and thieves for weeks until they found a flaw in their computer system and then they didn’t have enough to fill their orders , no apologies from them after that.

Anyway I digress. Played with some colors last night and looked at Nerdfest09’s salamanders for inspiration.....if he wasn’t so far away I’d go steal his talent.....and pet his fluffy puppies (the dogs , I’m not making some weird sicko reference there ). No pics yet as not even a full base coat on a test model yet.

well...you could argue they want to find the flaw in the system and to make quality control better...or create insane obstacles for customers to even dream about making demands...

I totally get them protecting themselves, but at the same time it’s hardly likely that anyone would request a single arm from a sprue to try and rip them off.

Anyway, since Vik demands Pictures, I must oblige .

Base coated the runner figure, some washes here and there. The yellow colors will actually become two different colors. One is a basecoat for the gold layers, the other yellow sections (socks) will be darkened towards a leather color. I’m still not sold on the shoes....

As you will notice I decided to go for dark skinned Dark Elves as I’m emulating the 40K Salamanders theme.

Cloak/scales are far from done, tabinking more blue/grey though I’m open to suggestions.

but at the same time it’s hardly likely that anyone would request a single arm from a sprue to try and rip them off.
yep...that is the most realistic approach!

cyclops pattern , never heard it called that, I’m guessing autocorrect did something there. As for the stone wall it is actually a plasticard sheet that I used and attached to wooden sticks to make a stylized Japanese wall. I started them on page 34+35, I need to get back and finish more of them for my Bushido board

Nice , I’ll have to consider a few of those in the future.

Late night with one of my daughters at the children’s hospital. She’s had a cold and had a reaction to the medicine she was given. Nothing serious, just scary for her and us. She’s back to school today with no gym class, and fourteenth birthday for her and her twin brother on Monday. I slept on the couch so she could sleep next to momma....I got to sleep with the cats , poor cats being kept up by my snoring.

I did get home to find my package from GCTstudios had arrived

Reinforcements

Dudiko the female ninja(new figure), not to be confused with Michael Dudikoff the American Ninja movie actor
Hiretsuna, bakemono (Asian goblin) ninja, who I will refer to as hired tuna
These two complete (except for the show exclusive ninja ) the whole ninja line for me for Bushido

Also got Kimiko Hoshi, Minimoto Clan shujenga who is new and completes my Minimoto Clan collection. She is an ice witch and should help out with getting shot a lot.

Need to assemble and get them all painted up, so right to the top of the que for them.
Assembled.

Me sleeping on the couch was only so my daughter could sleep with momma since she didn’t feel good, but there’s plesnty it times that the couch beckons me for other reasons .

Celebrations are/have happened. Cake, ice cream, pizza, churros, root beer and soda have been consumed and friends have spent the night and gone. The Xbox was on the verge of a meltdown with teenage boys playing Fortnite for so long with no break.

Meanwhile I did a bit more on The ice field that Kimiko Hoshi gets to set up after all other terrain is deployed but before models set up. It counts as clear(visibility)-Difficult(movement) terrain. What’s fun is it specifically says for enemy models....so I’m pretty sure that means my guys can move through it with reckless abandon .

Nothing super fancy. Piece of VCT tile cut to the size of the card covered in Agrellan Earth, painter with astronomican grey with a glaze of Guilin an blue then drybrushed with chronus blue and Praxeti white.

Dudiko’s wavy ribbons keep falling off, they may make the model look nice, but they will forever be damned when it comes to moving the model.

Thanks Youashock, I don’t like the idea of laying down cards as terrain, probably because I’ve lost cards years ago playing magic and L5R by placing my card on my opponents stuff.

Kimiko Hoshi almost done.

I think I’ll add some red to her armored part of her belt. Also a little work on the base, but she works intonations the group just fine.

Also started on a few scatter stones made from vase filler material. Pics tomorrow on that.
