Thanks Graven , wish I could take credit for it, but it was just a layer of codex grey, Nuln oil and then codex grey again.

Definitely going to give Kimiko a red belt, otherwise she is far too monochrome and doesn’t match the rest of the gang as we’ll a show I’d like. Also the texture paint for the ice I put on her has crackeled last night while I slept, so some touch up needed there anyway. In the mean time I’m working on some scatter rocks that I thought of yesterday. Took some transparent clear vase fillers and glued them to 1” circles of plasticard. These vase fillers I thought were random shapes are actually molded to certain shapes ....why? Anyway just started on them with a layer of Chardon Granite.

Red belt added and group photo.

Thanks Shaso

Rocks and Ice scatter pieces, both made from same clear vase fillers.

I think I’ll hit the rocks with dawn stone (grey drybrush) again to tone down the brown gold.

Okay okay okay , the sculpt is just gorgeous and gives a lot of aid to the look, but I did try harder to make it look nice as she is a special lady .

Not much to show as it’s a busy week, I did grab a pack of the new deep cuts 2” round bases in the clear today. $4.99RRP for 10 clear plastic large bases . They will be used for a variety of terrain pieces.

They also come in 1” and both are also available in black. I chose clear just in case.

If all goes as planned I’ll have a mostly free morning tomorrow with a stop off at another local hobby shop that I don’t often frequent. They do more model trains, RC cars and stuff. I’m looking for a few particulars which will be put into immediate use if I find them.

That’s it for now. Thanks for stopping in .

Edit: few hours of sleep and an hour or so of desk time and voila.

Couple of 2” terrain bits for multiple genres.

Edit2: I got four of these lanterns from a super dungeon explore kit. Too plain looking for my tastes, but decided to throw som astrogranite debris on it to make it look like worn stone.

Also after my dentist checkup I got a bottle of latex rubber to make some trees.

Well the latex for the tree armatures had hardened on the shelf at the store. I took it back because it was like contact cement not like a paint and all of theirs were bad/old, so no tree progress.

I did however finish the large lantern.

Thanks Vik, the trees are a wire frame and you brush on coats of the latex which then allow paint and flock to stick to the tree. I’ll link the video in a little while, I’ve been wanting to do this for some time, but never found the latex....wonder why . Hot glue could work, but this would actually be easier to brush on and not leave strings.

The heads are those of Demogorgon from a limited D&D collector series kit I found at Miniature Market a couple years back. It was a $100 kit that I think I got for $30-40 because the bad was damaged . Here’s a picture of it from when I had it almost completely set up. Zombicide figure next to its foot for scale.

uff...that´s big...this will be a nice eyeopner on your shelf for sure!!!

and i see your point on the tree... your way has more control of course! if you lack the latex...what about PVA instead then? this is basically the same stuff...(give or take some ingredients...) and less expensive and probably at home already...

Exactly what I wanted with Demogorgon, a centerpiece model, I bought it to use as a greater demon for a beasts of chaos army before they redid the whole Universe with AOS.

I might give the wire wool a shot, I’ve watched that video before, I LOVE MEL , I just like the look of Luke Towans trees a lot more. Plus I made my own flock from sawdust and I think it will function better on the other tree frames.

Uppity Samurai is Uppity

Also stopped by the FLGS, I’ve been watching the consignment shelf and they had a brand new starter box for Dark Ages: path to glory. It’s gone from the original ask price of $60 for it and the Forsaken rulebook(started back during the cmon sale) and it went down to $15, so I grabbed it.

Oh I know on the sawdust, but I made plenty and kept stirring and kept it dry by not putting in too much paint. I’ve flicked a whole 3’x3’ table with it.

Thanks Vik, I’ve done so much orange lately that I didn’t want to do any on here and most people have plenty on their versions. I guess most of the art has him as an orange/green beast, but I wanted a little different and the fur has brought that orange brown out just enough in my mind.

Anyway, I did a bit more last night/this morning, I’m not sold on the arm, the green I used to shade the scales is too glowy, I might just paint over it with a really dark green or try a grey... suggestions welcome there.

I also painted the ruins to be more, started with Slaanesh grey as the base, heavy wash of leviathan purple, liberal coating of dawnstone drybrush and then Nuln oil. Just enough purple comes through to give it some depth and not just be shades of grey.

I’m pleased with how the chest is turning out. The images I’ve seen has a yellow orange energy coming out of his chest straight down the center. I used tyrant skull drybrush heavily and then a lighter drybrush of terminates stone then a wash of casandora yellow. I’m tempted to leave it at that, but I might add some fuegan orange to it in the extreme center line of the chest.

Thanks Cam , the juices are flowing again with this project.

Decided to try something else for the arm. Starting from a purple base with druchi violet wash to start.

While that was drying I decide the face needed more color so first layers started.

Unfortunately I’m at work now, so no more progress today

The purple is an improvement over the more vivid green. The whole thing is developing nicely. The extra attention to the face is looking particularly good.

I do have army painter paints as well, but unlike most people I don’t like the dropper bottles as you waste so much trying to squirt out just the right amount. Also sometimes they are just too watery, YMMV though.

youwashock wrote:The purple is an improvement over the more vivid green. The whole thing is developing nicely. The extra attention to the face is looking particularly good.

Thanks Youashock, still not sold on the purple....thought maybe dark green to grey, or back to orange not sure right now.

Anyway, just home from work, so painted the faces only a mother of demons would like.

Nice progress on Demogorgon.

I always get intimidated by huge models like that, yet I keep buying them for some odd reason.

For a covering over the wire trees have you considered tissue / PVA?
You can use any tissue paper; soak it in PVA/Water and wrap it around the tree. You can build up thick areas to manipulate into shapes, add the root spread at the base, stumps of branches, etc.
It can get tedious about the thinner branches, but stop early and hide the uncovered ones with foliage.
See my Mononoke piece, that's what I used for the trees on the base.

Good job on your current beastie.
The sculpts of the faces remind me of the beast at the end of Big trouble in little china...
