Kind of a substandard Leviathan, really. I'd much rather have seen old Washing-machine dreads get better legs. I think the Contemptor looks much better alongside the Primaris marines, myself. It follows their armor design and clean lines better. Kind of bummed that everything needs to be much larger than previous stuff.

I guess that is a heavy flamer on the fist, at first I thought it was a chainfist / drill attachment modelled to be like the terminator chainfist.

looks like it might even have poseable legs as well, nice.

If you didn't like it from other angles but did from this, that's because you're seeing the legs side on minimising how spindly they look.
Gotta say, out of Castaferrum(standard box), contemptor, Deredeo, Leviathan and this thing, the Redemptor has the least cohesive design. The limbs don't really match up well to the torso in the same way as the other four.

I quite like the new Dreanought - its pretty good.
Hoping we get some more Sisters of Silence stuff besides their whale ship and the bolt positol unit. Still at least they are getting something unlike the Sisters of Battle. Was there any mention if the Custodes and Sisters of Silence units are for 30k / 40k or both?
Any more shots of the aerial Custodian transport - that looks great.

Yeah, exactly the opposite is happening for me with these as did with the Flying Lobsters - the more I see, the less I like. I can see where they were going with the design, it's the Leviathan but based on a Castraferrum rather than a Contemptor, but the execution is off. Where the Leviathan took the basic Contemptor layout and bulked it up pretty uniformly, ensuring the proportions on the legs kept pace with the torso, this one dumps a HUEG amount of extra gubbinz on top of a standard washing machine torso and makes the legs longer at the same time, without adding enough bulk - the original Castraferrum looks like it could barely walk because it would waddle, this one looks like it could barely walk without toppling over.
Not a huge fan of the tank from what we can see of it in that image either tbh. When we first heard those "missing link" rumours I was hoping for a plastic 40K-ified Sicaran. Will need better pics to be sure of course.

I'm tempted to watch the Hobbit again just to see what these guys actually look like.
I doubt it's the painter's fault. The noses don't look straight and there is very little shadow around them, suggesting it's the sculpting at fault. The faces just look weird. But then, if I remember the GW studio release of Legolas and the redhead weren't fantastic either. Lord of the Rings seems to be a bit hit and miss in the last couple of years.
Maybe it's just Forgeworld working at their limit? The Bloodbowl resin models also received a good bit of criticism. Maybe they just don't give sculptors enough time anymore to make their deadlines?
Edit: It's also worth remembering that Lord of the Rings is 25mm scale, and those are kids (so even shorter than normal) in a pretty zoomed in picture. They might look totally fine in their natural size.

I will agree that those three are pretty rubbish but the new dwarves, gwahair, and Thranduil are all pretty excellent sculpts.
The lake house is also a pretty great scenery kit. Forgeworld' remit has expanded massively in the last couple of years and there are inevitably going to be few poor sculpts as they staff up to cope with the specialist games and Lotr stuff.
There have been a few poor star players for bloodbowl, but the new previews look much better. Hopefully Lotr will follow suit.

Not sure people appreciate just how dinky Hobbit models are.
They're not heroic scale. So sculpting a decent civilian face (with no facial hair or chiselled good looks) is probably bastard hard.

To be fair, those bloody kids spend 90% of their time on the film squealing or yelling " DA", so indistinct faces dominated by gaping mouth holes, while not an accurate rendition of their features, seems a fair approximation of their characters and performance
