Hiya guys,
So with the obvious lack of an HQ selection, how do we run pure Adeptus Custodes (Sorry I've not had chance to fully read through the rule book and still need to pick up Index Imperium 2)
If anyone could assist that would be grand!!

The Custodian Guard are troops, the Contemptors are elites and the Land Raiders are heavy support. Thus, no pure Custodian army. Run an inquisitor or something as a cheap HQ, or use the Space Marine Captain-rules (Gravis or Terminator armour might fit) with a Custodian model if you really want a fighty HQ.

I don't have the index, but I remember watching the battle report on Warhammer TV and they said you can choose to take a Custodian squad as a HQ choice. I'll have the index in front of me in a few hours so if it's not solved I'll get back to you.

You can't - at least not if you want Command Points.
So Celestine if you want a fluffy HQ to guard, a counts-as Terminator Captain, or a Primaris Pskyer (if you want something cheap) could all work.

I have index 2 but not handy for abit.
However yes, I saw no HQ option asa separate unit listed.
You would need to add a hq to for the force orgs.
Inquisition maybe as filler, but a primus hq is one that can keep up with custodious, be punchy and has a high save plus wound count.

I'd chime in again and as Asmodai said, you could use the Auxiliary Support Detachments and just take whatever. Probably won't work everywhere with suggested number of detachments, and you'll basically have 0 command points, but it's another way to solve it. The situation might be resolved if and when you get a new codex, but you could also just be an Agent of the Imperium and have to take a non-Custodian HQ there as well.

It would be so simple and add so much flavor is they'd simply port over some of the FW units into the game. I can always keep my fingers crossed I guess. The Terminators, HQ, Dreadnoughts, and jetbikes would REALLY make the army unique. Hoping for the tanks too would be icing on the cake.

I'm hoping that they slowly get expanded upon, with there being a fair amount of mentions of them in the new fluff, I'm just going to run them with the Deathwatch Captain (guy with guardian spear) at least it'll fit a little better

To be fair index imp 1/2, xenos and chaos are there to give rules quick to all plastic models.
Now.
I still likely have the old PDF at home like many others, its a BAC faq that listed 7th rules free for pre talons custodious.
With a extra attack, bump up a wound or so and such you have a captain. Cost more points.. Maybe a bonus to hit or such.
Add a basic rule, allied custodious in 6 inch re roll or use +1 morale and done.
Just copy ygr rough increase in old captain to custodious.
Its a friendly game only idea though until proppet codexes drop but even then Il probably stick to my indexs lol
