Saw it last week and quite enjoyed it. It's a very well crafted film that sits in a weird place for me. It does quite a number of things better than the movies that came before it, but its never quite sure how to say what its trying to say. It wants to be about responsibility and priority and it tries really hard to say that, but it never QUITE delivers the message.
It does do a fantastic job actually developing a supporting cast for our hero though, which is an aspect comics have increasingly moved away from recently to their detriment. As crossovers have become the norm, we've lost the perspective gained by having these character's lives intertwined with normal people. These days the friends, rivals, and love interests for most heroes are other heroes, resulting in characters with nothing to lose or fight for.
Keaton absolutely knocks it out of the park though and I wish he was in a movie that was as cohesive as the second Rami film because despite being in an inferior movie, I think the role he plays knocks Doc Ock out of the park. He's relatable in a way few villains every have the chance to come close to with the extra bonus of not really having a cop out for why he's doing what he's doing.
Honestly, if it wasn't for his performance, I'd say the movie would be extremely enjoyable, but a little disposable. The kind of movie I'd have no reservations recommending but that I don't think I'd dwell on in a couple years. Keaton though makes it something more to the point where I wish the movie was just a little better simply because if Spidey's journey was a little firmer footed, it would probably be uncontested as the best Spiderman film.

This film, for me, was certainly enjoyable, as long as you go into it knowing this not a franchise reboot, per se. Peter is in a totally different point in his life than what we are typically used to in a new Spidey franchise. This is not goofy teen gets bitten, but I have these powers and what will I do now.
And, as far as Keaton' character - FINALLY a villian that is not a mega-ego maniac wanting to take over the world. Just a guy taking advantage of tech and opportunity. And, Keaton killed in the role and I want to see more of him. I am sure we will.

I dunno if it was Dakka that pointed it out but Aunt May was the same age as the youngest of the "Golden Girls" when the show started.
It's just a different time and expectation thing.
Though I rely think the reason is that Aunt May in Raimi's version was such an accurate portrayal of the classic character setup that that retreading old ground was just going to harm the film.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the age portrayal and I absolutely LOVE Marissa Tomei.

Aunt May's age in the newest spiderman is the most reasonable one. She should have the same age of Peter Parker's parents but in the older movies she looked like his grandmother. I don't care if also in the comics she looks that old, Marisa Tomei is the best Aunt May

I agree. The portrayal of her, in the comic or other medium, as decrepit never really worked for me.
I saw it and enjoyed it though not as much as I thought I would. It wasn't bad and I didn't hate it but it really just didn't grab me either. Unsiprisingly Michael Keaton was amazing.

I guess it is my view of aunts... Both my parents were only children, so all of my aunts and uncles were great aunts and uncles!
However, Marissa is totally the bomb in anything she does.

Finally got around to seeing it. Definitely felt like he wasn't trying super hard to conceal his identity.
Pretty good overall, they finally got a guy/writing team that made me like him as both Spidey and Peter.
As above, Keaton really nailed his character in this and elevated the movie because of it.
