So after looking for a thread asking this question I decided to make one myself. The Fate of Konor campaign starts in about a week, and as you may or may not know the winning side will determine what happens in the new 40k storyline. No one knows how, but my own guess is it will decide whether or not Guilliman fends off Mortarion's assault on Ultramar. It could even result in a butterfly effect of some kind.

So with what could actually be something meaningful on the line, I'd like to get a poll started to see which side you will be playing for. This is not just a thread for Xenos players. Anyone, even people pigeon-holed into a faction by their existing armies, can still affect the odds by abstaining. Any details as to why you've chosen your side, or how much you intend to commit to this campaign would be appreciated.

Have they published any story for it yet?

I haven't seen any sort of 'Codex: Kronor' giving me the background and the unique army lists for the campaign. I don't even know whether it is set before or after the Indomitus Crusade!
You would have thought they would have built up peoples excitement in White Dwarf at least, but as it is I think the whole event will completely pass me by unremarked upon :-S

abstaining, the only new codex release will be for Imperium forces, it doesn't benefit my faction at all regardless of who wins and realistically this is just a nice little marketing strategy by GW to sell more stuff because part of the campaign gives you points for buying/painting new stuff.

Despite being a true Imperium player, I'm gonna try to work for Chaos at my store. I fancy something bad happening, even better if it happens to the Ultras - they had it coming That will make it more interesting.

@WarbossDakka Same. I feel like the great rift might be the set up for a never ending recurrence of chaos failures, and that we're just going to see daemon primarch after daemon primarch fail, only to be referred to the great rift again and again as part of this whole "chaos seems to lose every battle but still win the war" theme. I just want to see Chaos actually, you know, win a battle for once.

I will be fighting for the glory of the Dark Gods. I have a Thousand Sons army and Night Lords army that I am rebuilding to be using for this. I likely wont be getting double points for buying/painting new models as I have plenty of unfinished models as it is.

There was a big announcement/breakdown of how it was all going to work yesterday on the Warhammer40000.com community site. Gave some insight on the first weeks scenario and special strategems available to the players.

it would be fun to see the entire player base turn against the Imperium, including Imperium players, and see what excuse GW comes up with to why Konor isn't destroyed. Then again, it seems GW has learned from their mistake: this time the campaign decides the fate of some random system that no one cares about and won't affect the wider Imperium one bit if it falls.

On the subject of the thread, myself and my wargaming friends (a couple of chaos players, several Xenos players and several Imperium players) are all putting our wins behind chaos because we are secretly hoping Mortarian will sucker punch Guilliman back to sleep if chaos wins (we can dream).

Even though I likely won't play during this campaign... If I do get a chance my dark eldar will be siding with chaos. I want to take the imperium down a few notches if at all possible.

I'm not sure if I'll get a new army or not, doesn't seem like they have a getting started set for anyone I'd like.

Anyone know what sort of point range this event is at? I figured it might matter, but can't seem to find anything about it.

As a T'au player, I voted for Chaos.

In essence, it comes down to the balance of power between the big monsters, and how distracted each monster is away from the growing-but-still-fledgling T'au Empire.

Of the two, Chaos is far more hell-bent (heh) on destroying the Imperium, to the exclusion of just about everything else (if Slaanesh daemons/SM also capture a few Eldar for their God, that's an added bonus), while the Imperium is currently going overdrive in the "We aren't just holding the GD line anymore, we're pushing out and back" mode of existence.

Between the two, the Imperium is simply a significantly more dangerous threat to T'au Empire expansion, and long-term threat assessments take the back seat to survival as a species/empire (won't worry about threats if you no longer exist to be threatened by them).

It should be noted that Chaos is, of course, bad for T'au as well... but Chaos has a tendency to shoot itself in the foot, and I'd rather rely on Chaos consuming itself for the 17 billionth time than on a Crusading Imperium leaving an encroaching T'au Empire alone.

I have Ultramarines and Red Corsairs with a good heap of Nurgle units so I could have gone either way. But most of my Chaos is painted and two models of my Ultramarines are done up so I may as well paint up more of them for this campaign. Gives me an excuse to finish up my 3rd Company properly.

Abstaining. All the xenos players in my local are trying to turn our city into a neutral territory through wins and losses. For me it's too much commitment considering how far it would be to get there for the event.

If the xenos had been directly involved in the campaign in some way I could have made the extra effort, but eh.

I'm an Eldar player at heart...so inevitably we'll show up with a very "told ya so" attitude, solve everything in a deus-ex-machina style and disappear into the webway fully sated that we prevented someone from hurting an Eldar 38 years in the future.

Imperium. As much as I hate how they mangled the lore with guilliman and his new super ultra space marines... it would be weird for the Salamanders to fight for chaos.

This. So very much this.

One of the local stores is hosting the campaign so I'll probably side with the Imperium (can't have Harlequins helping Chaos, now can we?) so all my inevitable losses will only hurt the Smurfs even more.

I think it's for the greater good that the Imperium crumbles. Without the folly of man feeding chaos these "gods" will starve and cease to have the strength to leave the immaterium. In that way destroying the empire is hurting chaos as well while hurting chaos directly is utterly pointless. Besides, without their corrupt government the remaining humans might find some peace.

Chaos. Mars doesn't need the Imperium. Let it burn.

And also the Ultramarines, they take up too many goddamn release slots.

Otherwise i would love to have participated in my first global event.

So my absence from the event shall merely be fluffed as my Order being on the other side of the Rift.

I'm not taking part because Death Guard aren't getting anything until september or something. I would start primaris marines but I need to see what releases DG get first before I make a decision. Now if they unveiled the whole DG range soon then I might be able to decide before it's over. But as it is now....nope.

The Salamanders have dispatched a demi-company to protect the civilian population of Konos.

I will be playing Thousand Sons and painting Death Guard. I'd love to see Chaos get some real victories in here.
