Just trying to get a grasp on how allies will work in the new handbook if anyone knows. Currently I run a combined nurgle force of pestilens, rotbringers, and daemons of nurgle. Will I still be able to ally these all together in the new handbook or will skaven not have daemons of nurgle as allies etc....

Or does allies just make it easier to fill battleline spots or something?

Just very confused, and worried that I may not be able to field my force.

Thanks!

Since we don't have the full rules yet, only the little teaser, it's really kind of impossible to answer at this time.

It's still a little in the air, but on the contents page you can see there is a generic 'Chaos' allegiance. So I would imagine you can run your army as it is now under the Chaos allegiance. It's only if you want to go into a specific faction allegiance (say Pestilines) and include some non-faction units (say Nurgle Deamons) that you will need to abide by the new Ally rules.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

What it seems like is the allies rule will let you take up to X points in allies and not lose your allegiance. So, for example, Ironjawz could take a Giant (you know, like what is was in that holiday battleforce) and not lose Ironjawz allegiance (and therefore lose all the Ironjawz units as Battleline). You could still do a full mixed army and use the base Chaos allegiance.

However it's up in the air. They could change the Matched Play rules to require one allegiance, and the Allies mechanic allows supplementing that; don't think they'll do this, just saying it's something they could do.

I very much doubt mixed Grand Alliance armies are going away from Matched. It might seem fine to suggest it of Order in theory (although it would screw me over and leave me without a tournament army), but can you imagine asking the same of Death players? It just wouldn't work.

This.

As long as you stick with chaos allegiance and not go something more specific you'll be fine.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
