I have to say, I am disappointed to see the Primaris kits are coming with only an abbreviated Ultramarines decal sheet, and nothing else. I realize this is not new to 8th edition; it has been this way for a couple years on new Marine releases now. Not all of us have a great stash of older decals, or are talented free-handers.

While GW and Forge World have both produced sheets for other chapters at times, their availability has been spotty, and limited. There was a very nice Blood Angel sheet a year or two back; has since disappeared from GW online, and I am sure it is not the only one this has happened to. And having to go direct or cruise secondary markets like eBay is not quite the same as something you can use coming in the box. I realize there has to be a limit somewhere without raising the price, but I don't think skimping on the decal sheet is the way to go. I thought the old Marine ones were a good compromise, with First Founding chapters, and some notable successors, like the Templars and Crimson Fists. I'd like to see a sheet like that come back.

I get there are options. But it is still hard to ignore the fact you got something quite likely usable in the box a few years ago, and for whatever reason, GW has decided to stop doing this.

My guess? GW is going to come out with chapter specific upgrade kits for the main line chapters. That's what I'd do if I was them, and I'd tie them to the codex releases.

The only bummer about this is the other more Codex Astartes adherent chapters would get the shaft. I love the Imperial fist Decals from forgeworld but I need too many to make any real commitment to them.

They don't even sell blood raven decals anymore.

The most baffling thing is that there is no way to get black squad markings anymore. Any chapter where white tactical arrows etc don't work (Imperial Fists, White Scars etc) are SOL. I'm having to put white transfers on mine and paint them over.

The older decal sheet was perfectly fine and was replaced with an inferior version. The decision to this day baffles me. Go buy the Forge World decal sheets??
