I used a biovore today in a game and its rules are as clear as mud.

I hit a few times, and then when I missed, I placed a spore mine within the parameters in the book.

Here is what is not clear.

If the spore mine dies from being shot, does it do any damage to nearby enemies? And if so, how much range?

We played that it had a 3 inch damage radius.

Record:

8th edition:
Tyranids: 5-4-3
Orks: 4-2-1

5th edition

Orks:18-5-1
Tyranids: 17-10-4

6th edition

Tyranids: 6-4-1
Orks: 3-1-0

From memory no damage. Only explodes in the charge phase. It does mess up enemy movement before they get a chance to shoot it though

It's rules are very clear. If it does from being shot it dies like anything else. It has no death-throes or explodes special rule so it deals no damage upon death.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

The only counter players have to biovores is to shoot the mines. They are already fething ridiculously good, you don't need to make up rules to make them better.

Hi! Another question, as I understand it the sporemine explodes when the fightface is over?
So if a unit charge a sporemine, it doesn't explode right away, they get a chance to cut it down? With T1 they should... is this the correct way to interrupt the rules?

"A Spore Mine explodes if it is within 3" of any enemy units at the end of any Charge phase."

So it explodes before the fight phase even begins. Now you see why Spore Mines are fething ridiculous. Zero counter play possibilities.

Should we really be surprised by the men we order to Charge through a Mine field causing them to explode?

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.
