So I'm building my first list and decided I wanted to go with a full battalion. This meant needing fast attack options, and after perusing the available options, the Hellhound tanks seemed like the best bet. The problem is the things seem to be sold out everywhere. My FLGS can't get them in via order and even GW's webstore is sold out. I was looking over the tank and noticed it seems to following the same general lines as the Chimera - of which there are about a billion between the stores i frequent.

Does anyone know what would be needed to convert a chimera to a Hellhound. Is there a difference between them other than the fuel tanks on the hellhound and the lasgun arrays on the chimera?

Fortress world of Ostrakan

Just glue some barrels where the lasgun arrays are and make some fancy flamethower nozzle to the turret.

The hell hound is a chimera chassis.

easy conversion, get the chimera turret and add a heavy flamer or a heavier flamer to it like the one off the Goliath or dread knight.

remove the las battery on the back and board it up with plastic card. and on the roof just add some oil barrels or not.

some one on dakka already did it

Here are some barrels you could use for the fuel cells.

or

lol.

If that is too expensive, Revell do a few 40k sets that include some old citadel barrels and stuff.

https://www.revell.de/en/products/warhammer-build-paint/id/00081.html

They do tend to come with old landspeeders or dreadnought armor included too though.

Go get a kinder surprise. Eat the chocolate, ditch the toy inside (or maybe throw it into your bitzbox) and cut the plastic egg in half lengthwise.

Boom, fuel cell for two hellhounds.

Then find a heavy flamer and two long rods, possibly from lollipops. Cut the flamer nozzle off and glue the sticks to the ends.

Boom inferno cannon.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I'm tempted to do the Barrels out of Bond but leave the dwarves

If you're feeling flush then I think the forge world Artemia kit is the sexist around. Maybe see if you can get the upgrade from ebay.

That set by Tamiya is fairly cheap if I remember correctly though. I want to say I bought it from Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago for like $12.

I've used it for basing decorations and such and the barrels may be a bit small for use on the back of a Chimera but I think that falls to personal taste more than anything.

Tamiya also sells the same kit in 1/35 which is perfect (less than 10 bucks)

Pretty easy to roll up some card, pop some card discs on each end then add strips of card and wire to the cylinder for detail. You can emboss rivet details into card using a pencil (put the card onto some foam or blutac then push the pencil into, but not through, the card).

Easy place to pick up some excellent vehicle bits:

Here are your flamer nozzles (two in a pack)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Flamethrower-Light-Cannons-2-/252656566608?hash=item3ad3814150:g:dlIAAOSwo4pYOzgD

Here's a 2-pack of fuel tanks as well:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Tank-2-/252657715378?hash=item3ad392c8b2:m:mQeXrqPatVo_McRIGy8oSRg

Pick up some sweet exhaust fans while you're at it, etc.
