Not sure what you're basing that assessment on; stats, point values, and the like have at times been notably different.
I mean, this is a pretty low bar, isn't it? The large majority of things, excepting the Primaris releases which are new models, in the codices have been 100% copy-pasted from the indices. Virtually all changes from the indices have been to point values. To my knowledge, the codices we've seen so far have been by far the smallest changes to individual units of any rules release 40k has ever seen. Easily most of the work in putting together the new codices has been in designing all of the faction and subfaction rules, not anything which scales with the number of unit entries.
Where are you getting the tidbits about Orks, DE, and Necrons? The Warhammer Community article makes no mention of specific factions, at least
It's the Warhammer Community article that talks about the Chapter Approved release in December. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/08/09/new-matched-play-rules-in-chapter-approved-aug-9gw-homepage-post-1/ It seems pretty clear that those three factions aren't getting a codex before Chapter Approved.
Had entirely forgotten about that article; didn't mean for my first comment to sound like a call out if it came across that way. Was just looking for sourcing/what was driving that assessment. Good points!

There was a Facebook post that indicated TS would be coming "very soon" when asked if a TS player should pick up the Chaos codex, so presumably "very soon" is prior to the end of the year. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I'll probably still be disappointed if that isn't the case.

Deathwatch and Thousand Sons. Both are very easy to pull out in a short timespan, involve next to no releases and are pretty compact.
I say Deathwatch as we've seen multiple pieces of Primaris Deathwatch art which suggests they've at least got some stuff done up for DW.....
I suspect there will be some transports for them or at least a flyer since no way can the Corvus carry them. I also want a tech marine and apothecary model. Too bad they will be in Primaris size and not fit my army, but eh better than nothing. I might look into getting some of the Primaris Terminators and if they release the grav tank thing definitely that so I can have a mixed old/new army.

BA would be useful.
Tactical Marines and Assault Marines should have separate entries in the new BA codex. Atm we have Assault Marines without meltas which they had in the former incarnations.

With AoS Blightwar all around Nurgle, I think we might see a wave of new Nurgle Daemons in October. That would make Daemons be a very likely candidate for a codex soon after, i.e. still this year.
Thousand Sons are my other wish candidate: they don't need any new models, so would do fine with a codex/dice/cards release.
I believe that Space Wolves will get a new book plus Leman Russ soon, but not in 2017. Some of their characters might get ported to plastic, they would "need" a Primaris upgrade sprue, and I'm sure GW has something else up their sleeves. All together that could easily make for a three week release, which I just don't see happening in this year.

Looks like Hastings has just dropped a hint that Orks are coming sooner rather than later.

You've posted this exact line in at least two different threads, but in neither did you provide a link or any actual information. Or even said who Hastings is.
This is the Dakka equivalent of clickbait.
Edit: Ok so maybe Hastings is a well known source to some people, but not to everyone. Still doesn't excuse this.

Well, it makes people go and try and search for rumours. Googlebait, then.
You make a good point, if he had put in a link the post would have been actually helpful.

Well orcs is kinda obious.
Other then that im split between tau and necrons. Both seems to be in a rather bad spot and needs some new rules/statlines/pointcosts.

Think is, I thought Orks had been specifically mentioned/rumoured to be part of the Chapter Approved coming out at the end of the year... If that's the case then they wouldn't be planning the codex until next year at least.
I know that the general expectation was Orks to be mid to late 2018.
I'd love it if they did do a decent Ork release though.

I figure there is probably space for one more release with models near the end of the year, after all the DG stuff has come out. So I'm guessing that'll probably be tsons, to add a couple more units to fill out their army.
Given demons is getting at least a couple new AoS models, it might be a 40k codex for them is incoming soon.
Orks could be one of the ones before the end of the year, but could also be early 2018. It'd be 4-5 months rather than 3-4.
Are there any other hints of new models coming out for an army? Old leaked models? I didn't really see anything that jumped out at me in the rumor mill thread when I went looking. Maybe a few things that could be orks or demons, but that's really it.

Releasing Dark Angels along with The Lion model to coincide with the Christmas season would be a shrewd business move on GW's part.

I know the lion model was rumored but I don't remember it being passed on by anyone reliable or with any evidence. Has it actually been seen?

Not to my knowledge, but it just makes too much sense on the part of GW to release the codex and model together. The Lion is also one of the easiest Primarchs to return, according to the older codex fluff. I wouldn't be shocked if we get him shortly after Mortarion.

I have a feeling the last codex will be DA. Fingers crossed, although if Orks in it's hard not to see the TS getting their codex in the next few months.

From a "logical" sense, the last 2 would be TSons and Daemons.
The rumours have been for a while about TSons being soon, so Daemons would be a natural followup for 2 reasons -
1- rounds out all the chaos faction books
2- daemons tend to be more linked to TSons armies than the other legions (tabletop wise). Having all the legions without the daemons hampers the progression of chaos armies.
From a business point of view though, DA with the Lion would be a winner. Another Primarch just before xmas will help push sales through into the new year. SWs and Russ is another option, but i believe the rumours around the Lion have been around longer than those of Russ. It all depends on what GW have planned with the storyline.
As for rumours - i've stopped paying attention to them on BOLS and the other related sites. -Noone- saw Eldar, Ad Mech and Tyranids coming at all, and, there have been zero deathguard leaks outside of the info provided by GW. Nothing like what happened with Space marines etc.
Right now, anything could happen. So just enjoy the ride!

The TS don't really need new models, but a Start Collecting box would be very welcome.
As for Codex: Demons, there are a ton of great demon models in Age of Sigmar that don't have 40k stats, so I hope (and expect, from GW's business POV) that a new demons codex will include rules for them.
