Subject: IG - Regiment Specific Stratagem Predictions?

Any predictions as to what stratagems we will be seeing for each of the different regiments now that GW has come out & supported regiments? Here are some I thought of:
Steel Legion
Catachan
What would you like to see?

I'll play!
3cp - Send in the Next Wave
when a conscript squad loses its last model Set up a Identical unit within 6" of your table edge.
I would lose my biscuits if that actually happened AND conscripts stayed as is.
I could actually see the Catachan one happening except it being "cannot be fired at unless it is the closest unit" much like the deathguard strategem.
As for others I could see happening
Select a friendly <Astra Militarum> vehicle. It does not suffer -1 for firing heavy weapons after moving.
I would also like to see some sort of AoE artillery barrage if you have like 3 basilisks give up shooting.

I really miss Chenkov. I really, really do. I'd love to see send in the next wave as a stratagem. Given how daemon players have to pay for summoned units & the overall hatred for conscripts within the 40K community I don't think it will likely happen.
My thought process behind "Dig In" was I wanted to reflect Catachan's incredible ability to utilize cover. Death Guard can use their stratagem anywhere, but can be shot by closest unit. Whereas the Catachan stratagem could only be units utilizing cover. This would force players fighting Catachans to assault said unit to displace them.
I'd love an artillery barrage call in. Very cool & fluffy. Would likely be limited to once per battle I imagine.

an artillery barrage would proably be fine, chances are it'd be like the Space Marine orbital strike, which is pretty weak all considered

Haha nice game, what about these ones?
'Improvised Earthworks'
1CP - Use this stratagem at the end of your deployment phase. You may immediately redeploy any units with the fortification keyword within 6" of an Imperial Guard <Semtexian Bombadier> unit.
'Directed Barrage'
2 CP - Use this stratagem in the shooting phase. Instead of firing it weapons this turn, an Imperial Guard Heavy support choice with the <Semtexian Bombadier> keyword may select a terrain feature within LOS. All units with 6" suffer D3 mortal wounds.

Nice idea, seems very powerful but then 3CP is a big investment.
Where are you getting your cool format from? Is there a Hearthstone card creator like thing for Warhammer stratagems?

I've just been monkeying around in Microsoft paint using the recently revealed Death Guard stratagems. I'll make some blank ones that everyone can use.

4 CP - Relentless Bombardment: Up to three units with the REGIMENT keyword that have weapons that do not require line of sight may fire those weapons twice this shooting phase.
1 CP - Danger Close: A single unit with a weapon that does not require line of sight may fire that weapon at an enemy within 1" of a friendly unit. Resolve all misses against the enemy unit as successful hits on the friendly unit.
3 CP - Minefields: Before the game begins, place 3 mine markers anywhere outside of both players' deployment zones. Any unit that moves within 3" of the center of the marker suffers D6 mortal wounds. Remove the marker if it is triggered in this way.

So here we go, this is the basic format of how stratagems are laid out. This is an actual Death Guard stratagem:
Here is a blank 1 command point stratagem that you can copy/paste into paint & throw some text on to create your own custom stratagems:
I'm really interested to see what other great ideas yall can come up with! Lots of good ones so far!

Id like to see something along the lines of the old apocalypse formations recreated.
3CP: Emperors Wrath: 3 Basilisk Units within 6" of each other make a single attack. Pick a point within 72" and roll a dice for all units within 1d3+3" and roll a dice and on a 4+ deal 1d6 Mortal wounds, -1 for characters.
1 CP: Emperors Fist: 3 Leman Russes within 6" of each other can reroll 1s to shoot, if they are in close combat they instead gain WS 3+.
1 CP: Emperors Talon: Pick an enemy unit, until the end of the turn all Sentinels reroll 1s to shoot if targeting that unit.

So I talked to Pete Foley at NOVA Open and he said something to the effect of "Regiments will have Chapter-Tactics-esque abilities, while Strategems will be for Regiment types."
An example would be "All models re-roll 1s to hit in a Cadian detachment when firing Lasguns" as a chapter-tactics-style special rule, while the regiment type will have strategems, e.g.
2CP Artillery Regiment Commander: A Master of Ordnance in the detachment becomes HQ, gains the profile of a Company Commander, and may issue orders to any Astra Militarum unit that does not require line of sight to fire. (Or something, idk).

Im truly hoping for regiments to be chapter tactics esque, but with more restrictions. Like Steel Legion MUST be embarked on a dedicated transport at the start of the game, but they either get a ignore wounds on 6+ for their vehicles or maybe a reroll 1s the turn they disembark. Catachan get the -1 to hit outside 12 but they CANNOT take Conscripts (seriously, a 5 year old on Catachan has more combat experience than a typical conscript).
Basically I want there to be reasonably powerful regiment abilities but in order to use them you have to play to the style of the regiment.

Honestly I think catachans will be another raven guard/alpha legion cut and paste.
Cadians... I don't honestly know. Let a unit reroll rolls of one for hits and wounds that turn or something?
After that I'm not even sure what regiments hey will include.

Im going to assume it will be all of the classics, which should be more than enough to fill the 7-8 range of special rules. Cadian Catachan Vostroyan Mordian Tallarn Steel Legion Valhallan Bonus (if they are smart and want to make money/people happy) Tanith 1st and Only Salvar Chem Dogs Praetorian oh and Valhallans better get a regiment rule that interacts with conscripts, their entire army is about drowning the enemy in enough blood that even Khorne will say "Too much!"

See, I don't want them to do this. What if you want an Artillery Regiment or an Infantry Regiment with the <Steel Legion> Keyword? I know most of their regiments are Mechanized Infantry, but it would be very restrictive if it was the only regiment type that benefitted from the rules.
I actually hate the idea of homeworld rules in general. Homeworlds field a variety of different regiments, but if you make a certain homeworld the best at a certain playstyle, then you never see any other regiments (no matter how fluffy). E.G. If Steel Legion or Tallarn have the best Homeworld rules that benefit tanks, then you'll probably never see a Cadian or Catachan armoured company, despite plenty of evidence that those exist.
I would rather have seen rules for Regiment types rather than regiment homeworlds. I'd rather a Cadian Armoured Company be the same as a Tallarn Armoured Company or a Cadian Infantry Company be just as good as a Tallarn Infantry Company rather than them being wildly variant in effectiveness just because of the planet they're from.
IMO, you should be able to use the models you want (e.g. Tallarn infantry) with the rules you want (e.g. Infantry company) without having the models tied to the rules.

I see where you are going and I do agree, but their reasoning still seems to be centered around identifiable properties (i.e. legions, regiments, chapters). Of course theres no reason you cannot take Tallarn and use the Steel Legion mechanized rules, or the catachan rules to make stealthy Tallarn, etc. It would be nice to see something like "Infantry Regiments: notable regiments include Catachan and Valhallan"

Yes there is a very good reason, actually:
Special Characters. If I am Catachan and want to run a tank company, I am actually bringing a worse army because I don't have Pask.
Regiments should have a Regiment Type and a Homeworld. The homeworld can be special army-wide tactics, adnd the regiment type rule can be a rule that encourages you to bring a specific unit type.
E.G. the Catachans might have a rule that all their units have a -1 to be hit when in the jungle/woods, and an armoured company would have a rule allowing anything with the Leman Russ keyword to choose a kind of different ammo (or somesuch).

They better include some way of adding non-regiment units to a detachment without losing the regiment ability. It would be the height of stupidity to suddenly not be able to bring Ogryns, Astropaths, Priests, Enginesseers, Ratlings, Commissars, and Scions.

I actually really like this one. Very fluffy & acknowledges Catachan's lethality in melee. Normally most armies love to assault guardsmen. With something like this, they might take pause before charging Catachans. As it should be.

I actually thought it was pretty amazing & very fluffy. Was considering calling it Blitzkrieg. Normally you have to disembark at the beginning of the movement phase. This would allow Steel Legion transports to move, then disembark infantry. That is a pretty big deal. Pop out some vets with flamers or plasma right on top of your enemy.

My 2 cents and wish listing.
3CP Sentinel Command.
Choose 1 model in Sentinel squad. Model gains CHARACTER keyword and becomes a separate unit. Gains access to Voice of Command, can cast 1 order which affects REGIMENT INFANTRY and REGIMENT Sentinel squads.
2CP Improved VOX Network.
Choose 1 Sentinel squad. Models gains Improved VOX Network: a unit using Voice of Command ability within 6" of a Sentinel squad with Improved VOX Network may measure 18" from the Sentinel squad to cast Orders. The Sentinel must LOS to the Squad being ordered.
I really love sentinels they are arguably my favourite unit in the IG line. I really wish they got more flavour uses apart from "Okay" Distraction Fex's.

Sadly yes
Chimeras are in a pretty bad place right now. They really needed a points reduction in 7th edition. Instead in 8th edition their point cost increased. While their survivability has increased, it now suffers -1BS on the move, lost its rear firing port, lost amphibious rule & is no longer a command vehicle. Which is pretty brutal.
Hopefully with the codex they will revisit the chimera & give it further consideration. Its a beautiful model, would buy more of them if they were more viable.

Now that is really interesting. A sentinel character. I like really like that idea. I can of all kinds of shenanigans you could do with that. Would also be fun to run around the battlefield & shout orders at people from a sentinel. Just imagining it is hilarious.

I dunno, it kind of makes sense to me that special types of units like the Ogryns, Ratlings and Storm Troopers should be in separate detachments and not benefit from the regimental special rules because they are not really part of the regiment and are not usually from the same homeworld. The Characters I 100% agree with, it would be silly if taking useful characters stopped you having the regimental special rules.

You'd probably have to remove the flyer keyword from the transport they can disembark from, or else this would be pretty overpowered, I would think.

How about "Time for Tea" 1 CP
Tanna tea is a favourite of both Valhallan Ice Warriors (and even a few Imperial Heroes) they enjoy it so much that their Chimera troop transports are traditionally modified to carry a samovar to brew and dispense the beverage, even en route to a battle zone
Use this Stratagem at the end of your movement phase.
Select an Astra Militarium <Valhallan Ice Warriors> Infantry Unit and/or a Commissar Lord within 6" of a Chimera, Until the start of your next movement phase that unit/s can re-roll to hit and to wound rolls.

The flying transports already have an ability that lets you disembark any time in the movement phase instead of just the beginning, so it wouldn't really affect them anyway.
I mean yeah as written you could use it on them, but you'd be spending a CP to do something they could already do without it (basically wasting the CP).
So I think that would only end up relevant to ground transports even without the restriction. Though I suppose restricting it in that way would remove a potential noob trap.

These may be stupidly overpowered, but I much don't care:
<2 CP>: Ace: Before deployment, choose one vehicle. That vehicle gains +1 BS for the game and may reroll results of 1 on a D3 or D6 when determining number of attacks for a vehicle's weapon.
<1 CP>: Blitz: Select one unit of vehicles, those vehicles may Advance after moving this turn.
<1 CP>: Dig In: Select an infantry unit, that unit gains a +2 bonus to saves in Cover instead of +1 until its next turn.
<1 CP>: Standing Orders: Select a <Regiment> unit that just recieved an order. You may give it another, different order.
