We all know for example the power fist with its strength and number of attacks based on the wielder with some modifiers applied.

Tyranids used to have this for their ranged weapons too.
Nowadays they get fixed stats and for the most part it makes barely any difference.
This topic is not of great importance but I would like to hear your opinions on the matter before the new codex hits the shelves later this year.

I do not know anything about the codex content and this is not a suggestion that stat-linked weapons will be in there. Just in case anybody was getting hyped or disgusted.

My personal view is that it added a tremendous amount of flavor to the army and its main drawback of complexity should be greatly diminished by toxin sacs not giving +1 strength anymore. However it would probably be necessary to introduce point costs for more bio weapons varying upon the wielding bug as it is already done with some tyranids.

Have a great day.

I think in that case the price of those weapons could be bollocks to balance, you'll basically need a different profile for every single shooting weapon in every single tyranid unit.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

In the current ED it would be a bit complex and need a points value for each model with access to the weapon but it would be pretty cool, but what we really need is some biomorphs like +1 armor.

Would have been nice whenn we had str 9 carnifexes running around but the differences aren't that big annymore.

Melee weapons already work exactly like that.
Ranged weapons used to work like that.
Currently nids have lots of weapons with similar names. 'Devourer' vs 'Devourer with brain leech worms', 'Barbed Strangler' vs 'Stranglethorn Cannon', etc.

Back in 4th ed these were the same weapons. Just with a variable profile based on the attacks and strength of the model they were equipped to. As a result nids only had about 6 gun profiles in the codex.
5th ed removed the variable profiles and added a ton of weapons with those slightly different names instead.

We do still have spinefists, which inherit the attacks characteristic of the model holding them. Hence they have a different price on termagants vs bigger bugs.

I didn't like it when they made the change back in 5th, but I've gotten used to it. It's really just fluff.
Lots of simple profiles, vs fewer but more complex ones.

I'd prefer them doing it with stat-linked profiles, but it would mean that we have to go back to the whole "individual priced wargear" model since a Devourer on a S3, 1A termagant would be DRASTICALLY Different when mounted on the Warrior or Carnifex.

However, the reason I like this idea is because they could also introduce degrading tables for larger beasts with such linked weapons, which can give some great counterplay to the enemy army as they can slowly weaken your army's offensiveness.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
