I noticed that some of the Space Marine offerings are gone from the webstore. The standard Land Speeder and Tempest are gone. The Predator is shown as being no longer available. And if I remember correctly, there was a complete Land Raider Crusader kit and now it's gone (though the parts sprue to make one is still available).

I can't find anything about this on the internet (discussion wise). So, I'll ask here. Does anybody know what the deal is here?

Thanks in advance.

Changing packaging was what I had read but I'd be happy if the sponsons on the predator were updated.

I don't know what 40k was like two years ago but I'm always having problems getting predators and land raiders. The other day I found the last land raider in town. It's one of those Deathwatch ones but I have backup spikes a'plenty

Repackaging for the new warhammer 40k style.

Yes it's as trivial as that. This is due to a change in packaging also equaling a change in production code, which legally recognizes it as a new product (which is why they have to remove the existing entry. They will create a new one in about a week or two).

For the record we get this thread usually twice a week.

Can we please stop getting this thread everytime GW ruins out of stock on something or repackages?

With the new warhammer community team/ site we know far enough ahead the big stuff so please stop wishing/dooming everytime something goes temp out of stock like it's a sign.

Would be nice, but almost all of the people who make these kind of posts are either not regulars of this particular subforum (and hence have not seen just how many of these threads we've gotten) or are new to the site (and hence have not seen just how many of these threads we've gotten).

Asking mods to sticky it as a notice doesn't help either, since we stickied the "rules go in YMDC" and we still get the occasional rules question here.

I'd like to hoist a flag to all my fellow Tech-Priests that didn't make a thread when the Kastelan pack went "no longer available" this weekend, and that's the most popular AdMech pack for obvious reasons. Well done, servants of the Omnissiah.

Kastelans went no longer available because they got good, and everyone and his mother was buying as many as they could. Even the secondhand market boomed, with Kastelans on sprue or NIB selling on eBay for $80. You couldn't find any Kastelans on the market for less than that. Even gakky PROPAINTED Kastelan prices went up.

Need to be a whole forum to tell what is out of stock at any given second. Actually would be helpful.

That doesn’t need a whole forum all for itself...

...It can share one with all the posts about massive prices hikes. And how to check for the little flag in the corner and feel sorry for the Australia/New Zealand crowd.

(which I think the probably the second most common post that commonly reoccurs)

First, I want to thank all the folks who answered the question. It's good to know that repackaging is the likely reason.

Second, if we got two threads a week, I would have found the information I was looking for easily using the search function, and wouldn't have started the damned thread to begin with. Nothing came up on my search, so I decided to ask the community.

I've been a member of Dakka since January 2016. And I spend enough time on this particular board. So, skip the assumptions and attempts at playing moderator.

First off, I couldn't find anything about this subject on the Community website. Second, if it bugs you so much, just don't respond to the thread. Problem solved. And finally, this is a board for asking the community questions to get information, in addition to having 40k related discussions. And that is what I'm doing. Looking for information. Not screaming doom and gloom.

Since the question has been answered, and it's drifted off topic into bitching about using the forum for what it's for, could a mod just go ahead and lock it. Thanks in advance.

It’s not a bad question to ask. Sometimes when things go missing it’s because they are getting re-cut sprues and new releases.

But the times it’s just restock or repackaging overshadow those moments.

(sorry for adding to the snark)

@ oldravenman3025: It wasn't a slight against you, but it's very unlikely you'll actually find examples of it since people tend to use different words that tend to mean the same things. For example, the threads I was referring to are:

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/739177.page

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/738478.page

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/736562.page

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/736549.page

(the last one doesn't specifically ask about it until about 5 posts down, where the OP realizes that the Start Collecting! box was no longer in stock.

I may have exaggerated the "twice a week" thing but two of those threads were literally started a week apart, so I wasn't exaggerating that much. And that's just from the recent month, they've had people talk about this with the Wave Serpent Repack, the Venom Repack, and so forth.

And I've been a member since 2010, but I'm only a regular of this particular subforum, and only recently too. When you join has no bearing on it. Reason I mention that only "regulars" will know about it is specifically because people tend to post these under different terminologies, which Dakka's search function is not at all well at handling (the results I found had to be found through different keyword searches. There is no way someone who haven't seen those threads when they were posted to know that they're related at all). And yes, by "regulars" I basically meant "people with absolutely nothing better to do than stay in this one forum hitting refresh every 15 minutes". This is also why a lot of people want it stickied; it's one of those things that you really can't find an answer by searching (but again, the whole "Rules go in YMDC" kinda proves stickies don't work).

And the reason I mention that it's trivial and that we get this thread (pretty much on average) once or twice a week is because generally when we tell them it's a repack (hell this was my reaction the first time I posted one of these threads. Yes I did it too), it's met by disbelief until we show them the other threads.

Like others have said, the GW community has been far more open about upcoming products recently.

Hope that clears it up. I'm sorry if you found insult in my words but I meant none. I'm just jaded (like many others) to this one cropping up and people sensationalizing it. It's turned into the "What do I use to strip paint" thread of General Discussions.

Odd that I punched in 'discontinued' into the basic (ie no advanced options) search engine and came up with several threads about the same topic all from the last ~60 days.

I only got a few hits. But if you go with "Repackage", "Repack" "Stock" "no longer" and so forth, you'll get a ridiculous amount of hits.

Repackaging isn't that only reason. Over a month ago many Eldar boxes went out of stock on the website and my LGS (which often has LOADS of stock) had more empty shelf space than I have ever seen.

Most of the sets that were sold out were already repackaged to the new look.
I think a better explanation is that GW just isn't producing enough sets to meet the demand since 8th dropped. They are selling out of sets before they have enough to replace them.

While it is frustrating to not be able to get a set you want, this overall is a good thing as it means more players are getting into the game.

Yeah, this has hit our FLGS hard. A lot of smaller kits are used as filler in the 40k section (such as the mini packs of space marines, cultists, Cadian etc) and they have moved the build and paint kits into the normal box sets too. Very limited numbers of start collecting and literally only slow sellers left on the shelf.
On the upside, it's made getting certain boxes cheap (I've literally bought 2 custodes and 1 sisters of silence box for £50, NiB from other gamers!) Due to the second hand market now flourishing due to everything seemingly being usable, and power level allowing more customisation within a squad without needing to work to a certain points limit.
As an example, on the facebook page of my FLGS, there's been 3 different sellers that have sold the lot, from cataraphii terminator bits, rhinos on sprues, old metals, etc. It's been a massive jamboree!
