Mechanicus and Nighthaunt seem to compliment each other really well, but holy balls, these might be the coolest ones I've seen yet!

It's an attempt to get at 'spooky' without defaulting to 'everything spooky is because of chaos', so these ones are because of crazy technology and genestealer DNA.

Wonderful work. Found the Dunecrawler Basilisk conversion on pinterest and was hunting the source since then to ask a simple question: Where's the top part (platform+gun) from? I'm converting an Imperial Guard with walkers only and I'd like to steal the idea ;-) Looks like resin, so probably FW?

The green color reminds me very much of the color from StarCraft 1. Always thought it looked best on Terran Marines, stompy iron machines and the no-nonsense armored aircraft. These are perfect.

The cannon is from a 3rd party company called Quantum Gothic: http://www.quantumgothicwars.com/tabletop-gaming-scenery/quantum-cannon. The casts were high quality.

I love the all walkers Guard idea, I've seen your Ansari Crawlers around myself. I like the conversion and the grey/orange scheme too.

You know, that must have been a subconscious part of my choosing the color. I really liked that color on the Terrans in starcraft myself. Glad it's working!

Those tanks look great, almost comic-/cell-shading-like.

I'm not sure if everything is out of production, but Prodos games who make them now, retired a fair number of kits some time within this last year.

2. wash black
3. wash black in a more targeted way
4. drybrush/stipple with the original base color (dawnstone) until it's nice and patchy
5. do the same thing with a shade brighter (celestra grey) to complete the final layer of roughing up.

Alright, the guys going onto the above posted bases:

Some test color schemes for the Steel Legion and one of a Stormtrooper. and then about 15 of the 30 Stormtrooper with Plasma Gun this army contains, most converted because getting those on eBay is.... well pretty bank-breaking.

If you do, try to do the drybrush/stippling step with a very dry brush for a flat plain surface like the sector imperialis 60mm bases have in concrete.

Adeptus mechanicus has a lot of cool units and unfortunately a few goofy models. I'm not a fan of the higgins boat-esque Skorpius Dunerider/Disintegrator, but they are a valuable and important unit.
To get around this problem, I have begun to convert some Thanatar-Calix mechanicum automata to have the weapons loadout of a Skorpius Disintegrator. Heavy stubbers are not yet on.



The paint is in a very rough first stage, but I got all the heavy weapons crew onto their bases which I think is a solid step in its own right:



You can see like in the face washes, helmets weapons grenades are not very done, but I have all the models onto their bases, which again was not a small step. I'll get some better and more specific pictures once I actually finish painting some things.

Anything that wedges more Thanatar into 40k is a win in my book. Smart counts as use too - are you converting it more, or do the stock guns work fine for your gunboat needs? Big ol' fistful of rokkits maybe to replace the siege knuckles, Tau broadside style?

Also way to keep plugging away at the dudeswarm

For the counts as converting, I have removed the default mauler bolt cannons from the arm, and in turn I will add three heavy stubbers. The big fist box will be the missile launcher, not 100% sure on how I will do that conversion as of yet.

The box launcher isn't far off as is, maybe poke some missile heads out of those holes? That's all the GW model has for launchers. Or just paint it with some glowy energy action.

That's a great color for the big bots and the Kastelan robot's new head really works.
