Weaver is divided into four seasons. I am wondering whether they will concentrate on two or three seasons, or spread the release evenly across all four.

Will certainly be interesting to see what they do in terms of sub-factions. Hundred Kingdoms at least sets the precedent of a faction having more than three. Court of Spring is supposed to be the most dominant (though with that waning) so they could be the core of the initial releases. Hope the models are able to be as diverse and vibrant as the description suggests and PB can stick the landing on the concept.

So it's that time of year again
Time to look at the new faction and still not start the game, despite it being the most popular system in my club, because the sculpting style is just so off putting. If I didn't like orks on dinosaurs, there's probably no hope for anything else.

New First Blood Cohorts for all factions. These give around 1000 points (full army) for the Skirmish game for 99$. I wouldn't recommend them though for the Rank and File version. One Player Starters are still better for that.

Agreed, not great for starting out (except for First Blood itself of course). They're a good value way of padding out existing forces though; the cost of two character models alone will often be about half the value of the box and anything else is coming at a solid discount on the RRP. They usually lack the sprues for command models however.

I'm happy that I finally found a box of Goltr, the Nord's giant battle boars. Since they're release today was the first time I've ever encountered a box in the wild.
Not that I'm really interested in playing Nords, but I can't wait to build them!
Just need to finish building another half dozen Yoroni first.... speaking of Yoroni, has there been any announcement of what the models for their Crucible Of Wills box will look like yet?
I thought it was supposed to come out relatively soon.

The Yoroni Spider is horrific (in a good way; my phobia is pretty triggered just looking at it so genuinely good job PB).
The Dweghom ancestor.... I wasn't expecting a big flame beaver. I know it's part of the beard and only looks like teeth because it's been painted white but even so. Flame beaver.

The new Lore Companion dropped some juicy details on future factions; lots had been mentioned before but we get a bit more context now. Won't go too deep and will try to spoiler anything that folks might want to discover organically when reading;
Weavers
- Spring (Water) - is the dominant Court currently; ruled by Queen Maeve and her consort Nuada. Maeve is extremely significant as a Life-Binder, blending with nature and has some long-term plan for restoring their homeland to its primeval state. Nuada and his knights stave off external threats and the machinations of the other Courts. Bright, colourful and varied aesthetically. .
- Summer (Fire) - ruled by Oberon and Titania who are both deeply devoted to each other whilst also constantly scheming against each other. Reclusive as a faction but other forces often get drawn into their rulers' constant 'conflict'. Mention of Mantis Warriors and horned felines. More direct elemental life-binding (with Fire) as opposed to with fauna/flora. Militarily strong.
- Autumn (Earth) - situated along the Eastern borders and has more interaction with the outside world than other Courts. Prickly and territorial but not necessarily warlike. Value cunning and subterfuge over raw power. Witchcraft and riddles. Life-binding with creatures like wolves and badgers. Ruled by Cernunnos, the Hunter King who is very much an embodiment of the 'Wild Hunt' theme and is fascinated by mortals (whilst also enjoying the influence he has on their myths). His consort is The Morrigan who isn't a Weaver but a deity of the Keltonni humans and agreed to marriage as part of a peace treaty in return for Cernunnos allowing the tribes to settle the borderlands. Their relationship is described as 'tempestuous'.
- Winter (Air) - Secretive but direct and pragmatic. Ruled by Queen Mab; the oldest of the Weaver monarchs who long ago cast off mortality to bond into an elemental form. Didn't want a consort but Boreas, the North Wind, apparently the most powerful elemental still around and an embodiment of Ea itself, decided he was going to be her King and is constantly just turning up, occasionally helping in a battle, sometimes carousing and being a general nuisance to Mab before disappearing again. Court focuses on elemental binding (naturally a lot of ice magic), partly because of the lack of flora in Winter and partly just because the members of the Court think it looks cool.
The Black Army
-Mercenary Dogs of War style faction. Geographically and culturally leaning broadly into medieval Poland/Lithunaia as the Polmag Principalities are a loose collection of states wedged between the Hundred Kingdoms and the Russ. Main focus is on the Black Army of the prodigal Matjas and his rise to power in the region at the head of his disparate mercenary forces. More conventional units supplemented with Dweghom, Hoplites from the City States, some Wahdrun pirates and even a Spire airship. Also some Crystal Knights (which may or may not be Weavers). Winged Lancer artwork. Blood magic may be involved via one of Matjas' advisors and mentor Siegfried. Also accompanied by a mysterious 'Black Lady'
Helheim
-Bitter, vengeance-driven remnants from the end of Ragnarök who reside in the Netherealm beneath the ruins of Yggdrasil and collaborate to build an infernal army of monsters to unleash on the world. Probably already some clear split for the sub-factions:
-Nidhogg - ancient, surviving dragon trapped amongst the roots of the burnt Yggdrasil; his spawn of drakes have spread beneath the world along the paths of the dead tree's roots and are cowed into subservience by their brood-father.
-The Dwarfs - Fafnir, Otr & Regin - three immensely powerful surviving non-Dweghom dwarfs who are the last of those who served Nidhogg in ancient times (and remain loyal to him). Fafnir is a sorcerer who spreads his consciousness amongst great treasures, Otr is a biomancer taught (and partially made) by the Spires who once helped shape the original Dwarfs into better servants for the Dragons. Has created thousands of blank clones of himself and spreads his will between them (when he isn't trying to kill them all in order to recollect all that power into one vessel). Regin is a paranoid, obsessive craftsman and artificer forging weapons, constructs and golems. Between them they create mechanical and sorcerous troops as well as performing experiments on the Drakes (cyborg-dragon-kin...).
-Hel: Daughter of Loki (who she hates for his betrayal of their great divine-supercomputer project) and the Draumunir; a Nord death cult that originally were manipulated by the Dwarfs into worshipping them but Nidhogg commanded that this belief be transferred to Hel. She herself is a husk, possibly blended into the roots of Yggdrasil but her will and spirit remain very potent. Draumunir worshippers willingly bury themselves alive and Hel sends the roots of the great tree to imbue those corpses with her essence and awaken the latent genetic power that lies in most Nords to some extent. The successful attempts of this process create Myrkoul; powerful revenants who act as Hel's enforcers. Those who can't fully accept Hel's essence become Draugr; trapped in their mortal bodies and driven to madness by their failure to ascend. When the process goes really well, the cultists become Grimhednar; Hel's Champions who the cult are convinced are on par with the Einherjar.
Mastiga
-Only described via short lore snippets rather than full description so far but essentially a very aggressively parasitic disease/hive mind that infects and absorbs. Some manner of cultist activity helping to spread via ritual blood transfusion. Cancerous swellings and bloating and necrotic flesh. (Can't recall if this is the name of the ghoul-type faction previously mentioned).
The Han
- Conquest China. Very much Conquest China. The only major human civilization to develop independently of Hazlia (or be an offshoot of the Old Dominion). Don't utilize sorcery (or profess not to) but do have some manner of dragons. Highly effective gunpowder weapons. Massive floating fortress ships that they then beach to form the nucleus of new cities. Currently sending out ambassadors across the various lands and have had some cultural exchange with the City States.
Desmoceral
- Hell and the prison city built to guard it. A sub-realm of reality created by Hazlia during his early days to imprison all the abyssal primordial shards who were hostile and he didn't have an actual use for. The demons and monsters of the Dominion's mythos sealed away and guarded by Hazlia's angelic host. Desmoceral itself a fortress-prison city in realspace, built above the hell-pit and garrisoned by the most devout forces available alongside the prisoners themselves who were the most violent and heretical of the Dominion's criminals. The fortress so strong that it withstood the god's Fall.
Famine/Greed
-Greed is a fragment of Famine that has managed to escape (or manifest separate to) the latter's prison (which is made up of a singularity in deep space but accessed via a temporal tear at the bottom of the deepest ocean...) and is starting to influence the world at large. Lovecraftian style mythos cults, deep ocean old gods and cosmic horror. The 'Dreamers' are the main cultists and they originate with an early Spire that was founded to research the seabed and was so isolated that later exiles lost all contact with it. Other tendrils of Famine/Greed are floating through space and they have started to reach out to human astrologers (who may end up as Blind Witnesses; another strata of cultist).

Thanks for the heads up; that is indeed a very overt reference then yes. Even down to the name of Matjas and it forming a blueprint for the standing mercenary army of the period.
I also noticed I forgot to mention Helheim...will rectify that.

I honestly think you are both right and arguing the same thing.
The Black Army very much does sound like the Hungarian Black Army, but with a mercenary leader accompanied by a mysterious dary lady, that is very much sounding like the main characters from Glen Cook's books.
If we see anything resembling extravagant black suits of evil looking armor, then we know for sure there's a definite connection to Widowmaker and Lifetaker.

I was finally able to read Lore Companion using translation soft.
I thought the Keltonni would be in Weaver's Autumn Court, but it looks like they'll be in the Black Army.
Helheim has many Dwarf and Nord outcasts, and I'm not interested in anyone other than the core Dragonkin.
As for the Mastiga, their drone arms have been seen mutating into arthropod arms in Organised Play Kit Season 5.
I've read Han's lore and it seems that the problem is that Para Bellum limited the world of Conquest to only one continent.
I'm curious if the Desmoceral wards are Stormcast Eternals that have been mutated to the point where they grow horns, or if they have become the very demons they captured.
As for the Famine, I'm more interested in the Fomorians who were able to oppose them.

The Mongol-like horse-riding tribe that was supposed to be part of Sorcerer King, I thought they would either be the Han themselves or be incorporated into the Han, but they still exist separately. I'm wondering if they'll just continue to be mentioned in the lore, or if they'll be added to Sorcerer King, or implemented as a new faction.
I was surprised there was no individual information on the third Cosmic Elves faction, the Quiet.
Assuming Quiet is confirmed and the plan to implement 18 factions that the company mentioned in the previous interview remains unchanged, there is only one open faction slot left.
I was hoping that Targovia, which has been mentioned several times in the lore and seems to be based on Romania, would become the home of the vampire army, but will Mastiga's base be Targovia?
And, I am still holding out hope for an Egyptian Mummy Horde to appear.

I presume that the Tribes (Mongolian type faction) will be incorporated more fully into the Sorcerer Kings as a sub-faction at some point, though they're not necessarily on good terms. Believe some of them are recruited into the Rajakur so they may have a presence currently. Not sure if there's enough juice in the concept for them to be a full faction on their own.
Keltonni are probably in a similar position to the Russ in that they're sort of Hundred Kingdoms adjacent but with their own distinct culture (obviously with some Weaver influence, albeit the recent lore might suggest that they're more victims of the Court of Autumn than allies). They could certainly have a presence in the Black Army but that in itself could be something of a stopgap considering that force is made up of disparate mercenary elements and Para Bellum might well use it as a means of releasing individual units for factions that otherwise wouldn't get models (pirate orcs....).
The Quiet are certainly conspicuous by their absence in the new book. Having had a model make its way into the OP Kit would suggest that they're further along in development than some of the other factions mentioned but who knows?

Not even remotely rejected; this initial wave of releases (the kin bands) is going to focus on the more 'generic' Weaver forces that aren't necessarily part of any single seasonal Court in order to establish a baseline of units that they can then add the more focused Court units to in order to diversify the playstyle. The releases directly after these are from the Courts (can't recall the name but some Winter knights were one). Automatically Appended Next Post:

I was relieved to hear that. I have been looking forward to a unit with the characteristics of the four seasons described in the lore for a long time. If I could be greedy, I would have liked everyone to be specialists in their respective courts.
Of the two units released in December, the Gemred Knights will definitely belong to the Spring Court. I expect the Scaile Dancers will belong to the Winter Court, since Scaile means shadow in Irish. I would also like to see Commanders for each court soon.
