Drill tool from games workshop... worked well.. I messed up not being in the middle on some of the barrels but practice will solve that

You'd be surprised. I still mess up on about a quarter of the gun barrels I drill even after years and years of doing it.

Luckily, if you're obsessive about it, some greenstuff smeared in and left overnight lets you start over.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

If exact placement of a drill hole is important, like when drilling gun barrels, it can help to use an awl or a similar pointy implement to make a little hole first. It helps keep the drill steadily where you want it.

EDIT: I forgot to congratulate on your work. Well done!

Bold move. I applaud you for committing to drilling the barrels of an Ork force. A push pin centered to mark your spot makes drilling a bit easier.

Nice waaagh!!

yeah drilled barrels look good =D And I still get some offcenter as well. Drives me nuts but it happens. Even with marking the center sometimes (which otherwise helps enormously as others here noted)

Your Boyz are looking good! - hope to see more soon =D

thanks guys! Yeah I use a push pin but I’m not always exact. Im learning to paint better so taking my time with the boyz even though it’s 90 of them.. painting them ten at a time takes a few hours broken up due to kids and pesky responsibilities

If you miss the centre, drill at an angle and level it out later.

However it goes, drilled barrels on an Ork horde? Good going.

They look very nice, should be proud, drilled barrels look good (way too lazy here), slightly off centre with orks probably doesn't matter.

Firstly no one is going to look that close given there is billions of them, and secondly they are orks.

if it bothers you a bit of very matt black on the end and in the hole as withering hides many sins

I actually followed a vid on the skin.. I liked how he did it so I followed the same.

https://youtu.be/tUYptUi7tV4 Great guy who does fantastic paint jobs. His Orks are awesome!

I changed up some minor stuff but basically followed the vid. I'm color challenged to say the least so it was beyond helpful to have a list of colors. Super entertaining to watch me paint a bunch then reach for the color to paint next only to realize I've been using that color the entire time but can't tell.. luckily I can pick out different colors but if they are the same color group.. I'm screwed lol. Good thing I never went bomb tech...cut the blue wire... boom!! it'd have been a short career

If you are having problems centering the drill, take a pin or a tack and pre press into the center first to make a divot.

then drill it out. for larger bores drill with a smaller one first then go back through it with a bigger bit.
