So the
Book has been leaked

Preorder on the 2nd of December
Available on the 9th of December

A few changes in a couple of units. Points moving to match the vanilla codex.

No Sammael in Sableclaw in the codex

Black knights and deathwing terminators may now be upgraded to a command squad (1 per army) this basically gives them the bodyguard ability.

Now the juicy stuff

Abilities

And they shall know no fear

Inner circle
This unit automatically passes morale checks. In addition it may reroll at to hit rolls against Heretic Astartes and all to hit and to wound rolls against Fallen in the fight phase

Ravenwing
If this unit moves it gains a 6+ invulnerable save to all shooting attacks. If it advances it gains a 5+ Invulnerable save to all shooting attacks

Grim Resolve
All UNFORGIVEN units may Overwatch on a 5+ and will only lose one model to a failed morale test

Have the same space marine stratagems as vanilla marines with the exception of
Masterful marksmanship
Cluster mines
Tremor shells

Also access to these unique stratagems

Fury of the First
2CP
Use this stratagem in your shooting phase. All plasma weapons may use the supercharge weapon template but ignore any mortal wounds that would be caused by a roll of 1.

Repent for Tomorrow You Die
Unforgiven Stratagem
1CP
Use this stratagem before overwatch, the UNFORGIVEN unit may fire overwatch at full BS.

Teleport Homer
Unforgiven Stratagem
2CP
Play at the beginning of your turn. Any DEATHWING unit may deepstrike from reserve within 9" of an enemy unit as long as it is within 6" of a RAVENWING UNIT

Deathwing Assault
Unforgiven Stratagem
2CP
Play at the beginning of your turn, any DEATHWING unit entering by deepstrike may fire twice or add 3" to a charge roll this turn.

Same standard space marine Warlord Traits as vanilla marines with the following unique ones.

Unforgiven
Hold at all costs
Your warlord and UNFORGIVEN units within 9" of your Warlord may roll a D6 for every wound sustained, on a 5+ it is ignored.

Unforgiven
Courage of the First Legion
UNFORGIVEN units in your army may use your Warlords Leadership for morale checks.

Deathwing
The Hunt
Any enemy Character that your Warlord slays in the fight phase grants one victory point

Ravenwing
Rapid Manoeuvres
Your warlord and any RAVENWING units within 6" of him may add 2" to all move, Advance and charge distances and add +1 to all JINK rolls

Relics

Sacred standard
Only one sacred standard can be taken per army

Standard of Devestation
All UNFORGIVEN units within 9" of the standard may fire twice in the shooting phase and automatically pass morale checks.

Standard of Retribution
All UNFORGIVEN units within 9" of the standard may attack twice in the fight phase and automatically pass morale checks.

Standard of Fortitude
All UNFORGIVEN units within 9" of the standard when suffering an unsaved wound may roll a D6 on a 5+ the wound is ignored and automatically pass morale checks.

Mace of Redemption
S+3 Ap-3 D2
If a unit suffers damage from this weapon reduce WS by 1 until the end of the next fight phase.
Against Heretic Astartes weapon is AP -4

Lion's Roar
When attacking with this weapon, choose one or both of the profiles below. If you choose both, subtract 1 from all hit rolls for this weapon-
Boltgun 24" Rapid Fire 1 S4 AP0 D1
Plasma 24" AssaultD3 S7 AP-3 D1

Foe Smiter
Rapid fire 3 S4 AP-1 D1

Monster Slayer of Caliban
S+2 AP-2 D d3
If this weapon causes at least one unsaved wound roll a D6 on a 6 the model is removed from play. Does not effect models with the VEHICLE keyword

Shroud of Heroes
The shroud of heroes confers a 4+ cover save and for each unsaved wound roll a D6 on a 6+ the save is ignored

And finally the biggest news in my opinion

Lion El’Jonson
M 8"
WS 2+
BS 2+
S 6
T 6
W 9
A 7
Ld 10
Sv 2+

Hope Melee Melee S+2 AP -3 D 2 If you roll a wound roll of 6+ for this weapon, it inflicts Mortal Wounds instead of its normal damage.

Despair 18” AssaultD3 S8 AP -3 D3 If a unit suffers any damage from this weapon, roll a D6 on a 6 the unit suffers D3 Mortal Wounds

And they shall know no fear

Master of the First – If your army is battleforged, you receive an additional 3 CP if Lion El’Jonson is your Warlord.

Armour of the Order – Lion El’Jonson has a 3+ invulnerable save. In addition all UNFORGIVEN units within 8” receive an 5+ Invulnerable save.

Blade Master - For every unsaved wound Lion El'Jonson causes in the fight phase he can immediately make an additional attack. This ability can only be used once per fight phase.

Master Strategist- each time a stratagem is used roll a D6 on a 4+ the CP for that stratagem is not spent

I Primarch – You can re-roll any failed hit and wound rolls for friendly UNFORGIVEN units within 6” of Lion El’Jonson

I don't see them getting an Overwatch bonus AND the old Commisar bonus. I'm calling this one bunk.

8th is rapidly becoming disengenious. Copy and paste ftw!

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Also I'm pretty sure nobody is sad about losing Sableclaw. There was no way to make it attractive.

Ok... must not get to excited.

And honestly, with the way they've "simplified" 8th, rerolls is about all the special stuff you're going to see anymore. Not sure what everyone is surprised about.

This doesn't seem credible to me. It is a quick update codex for 8th edition with the old cover art, I really doubt there will be a Primarch included in this release.

Also, those Banner of Devastation rules are totally crazy, I really hope that is not true.

That banner is crazy, that Teleport Homer thing is crazy.

I honestly and sincerely hope this leak isn't true. The stuff given is just insanely powerful. And these CP recovery effects...

Won't be shocked if this is spot on, it has enough copy paste laziness, a redone jink, and more broken ass primarch crap.
There is also a nice waft that cheap kraft cheddar slices, aura nonsense plaguing 8th ed.

Off to wonder if chapter approved is ever going to arrive.

I'm gonna take this with a bit of salt until we get a more reliable source to confirm it, since a lot of it sounds either like copypasting existing stuff or just translating the 7th edition rules into 8th. While there is a chance that the Lion might be released as a miniature, all Primarchs have been leaked months beforehand, so having one come out on such short notice seems unlikely (unless it's a FW model).

If true, it looks like GW is basically giving every faction a mechanic for "spend enough CP's and you get to auto-delete something off the table".

Unfortunately as time goes on, if these are to be believed, it looks like we're slinking further back into the old 7E issues that made it so bad, with every tiny possible differentiation apparently needing its own powerful special showcase rule to reinforce it no matter how minor it once was (e.g. Dark Angels and plasma was once just a mild preference for plasma weapons instead of them being some sort of deep rooted Plasma specialists). We'll see how it turns out, but the longer 8E goes on, as more and more codex books are released, the more it looks like it's going to repeat many of the same mistakes that created issues in previous editions that many had hoped were gone.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Indeed. I think they should have just stuck to the Index and just expanded on Psychic Powers and called it a day. They had something decent but it's starting to go down that slope again.

Which is another reason to believe that this is fake. It is twice the power of already problematic Guilliman-Star. It is hard to believe that even GW's writers could be incompetent enough to allow that.

Yeah, at first it was "This all sounds great", but at the end of this I was "Oh my god, even as Casual as I'm, I can see how this is insanely powerfull"

Army-wide inmunity to morale, all those rerrols (I don't think rerrols are bad), but they are basically ultra powerfull in meele, in range, and even in overwatch.

I'm sure some people is gonna come and say "This is balance because all of those buffs are apply to Space Marines units and SM units are crap and IG and Chaos is OP" but... oh boy.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

The banners seemed over the top unbelievable when I first read them, but to put things in perspective, Khorne Berserkers simply get to fight twice per phase as an inherent ability, and Leman Russes get to fire their turret weapons twice innately. Put in that perspective, the banners seem more plausible.

I am irked to read Sammael is losing Sableclaw though. I just built one for myself, and I'm halfway into painting it. Guess he's getting back-burnered till the Codex comes out.

You can't possibly say the Index armies were balanced at all. Not even close.

But it's not reasonable, because Bererkers are:
1, one of the most powerful assault units in the game, and when comboed with Alpha Legion become nigh-unstoppable for certain armies.
2, one specific unit with that in mind.

Leman Russes, similarly, have that buff built into their stats.

Now imagine that this ability is instead being applied to Lascannon Devestators or some similar, already-very-potent unit. Throw in Lion El'Johnson, too. Suddenly, a 170pt unit of Devestators has enough firepower to kill... Pretty much anything, actually, shy of the tougher Lords of War. They'll put 13 wounds on Magnus, 9 wounds on Mortarion, or 16 wounds on an Imperial Knight. And you can take as many of these as you want, as long as you can place one model within the buff radius of Lion.

These rules are also clearly fake, or at least copied down incorrectly, because of major noticeable errors in how the rules function. Plasma does not cause 'Mortal Wounds', it just kills models, so the 'Fury of the First' Strategem doesn't work. Abilities that grant bonus attacks have never been worded in the way that 'Blade Master' is. (It's always 'These attacks cannot generate additional attacks', not some weird confusion about using abilities once per fight phase.)

Also, there's no such thing as 'Jink' in this addition, at the moment.
