At those prices, a bunch of those Gortsi would've been finding their way into my 2018 KoW armies. ;-)

If I didn't already have like two armies in the pipe plus a huge stockpile of Confrontation wolves Goritsi wolves are very nice, especially the armored ones. Fun fact: one of the Horde is doing an Abyssal Dwarf army out of Teknes for next year, should be pretty sweet.

I was going to go in hard for Gangs of Rome this week, but might use those funds here. Wrath has a LOT of pretty models and these are basically liquidation prices.

The quantities they had in stock on some of those kits, I don't think it'll be that big of issue when their site is a bit more stable.

I'm more worried at the fact that those Wrath of Kings prices are so stinking low. Doesn't bode well for the future of the game much, yearly sale or not.

When relatively new releases are available at single digit prices...

Annoyed those new Gotha Knights for Goritsi aren't on sale.

The game's future was already bleak. The last wave of releases never made it to most retailers, except maybe MM, and the FLGS has almost as many immovable boxes of WoK as they do KoW elves. I'm glad the prices came down as far as they did; I was finally able to buy all the Shael Han stuff I wanted after all this time. I suspect that the MSRprices are the most responsible factor for the game's demise in the first place. If the fire sale prices get a lot of people to buy that first wave, people who go on to buy later waves at slightly higher prices, then the drastic discounts might help save the game.

How was WoK as an actual game? Apparently we can get two players one of every single box, starters included, and books, for two factions, for under $250... which is tempting even if its just for the wife and I.

Hadross stuff looks amazing and at those prices - crazy deal. Bought a fair-sized force to use with Deep wars or some other game.

A lot of the Gortsi stuff is tempting but kind of some odd stuff mixed in - seems like every box there's one model I love and one model I don't care for.

I found the first edition fun, the units are very dependant of synergy with the leaders to work properly

I know 2nd edition changed things up a bit but I was never able to get hold of the book (or anything else) for a decent price

the dedicated website has battle report videos that may help you decide if it's for you

http://wrathofkings.com/ks/

Edit: the minis are (decent) pvc so the bigger and more exaggerated the sculpt the better, i'd pick the shae han human units as the weakest because of this, they're ok but don't work as well as the bulkier stuff like teknes pigmen or gortsi werewolves

So, recently got back into Wrath of Kings. Wanted to get some friends into it so Black Friday! I went to Miniature market... no sale on Friday for Wrath models... So bought 2 starters for $56... Then Friday night a local (ish) LGS had a sale and all theier Wrath stuff was 60% off. So bought some more stuff... Then today CMON has everything at 70% off... so Bought a bunch more... I should have just waited and would have saved around $100 by buying today... Oh well great sale... Even got the New Goritsi that were not on sale, and the Pig titan (that's not on sale).

Raging Heroes have got an odd one going on:

https://www.ragingheroes.com/pages/cyber-week-name-your-price

Add stuff to your cart, PM them a price you'd like to pay for it and they'll get back to you with a discount code if they approve it.

I'd rather they replied to my email about the missing kickstarter items right now than spend all day manually confirming discounts!

CMON's website is killing me... it takes like three minutes for one item to add to the cart...

Took me all day on and off to get mine done,

the one good thing is it keeps your cart as long as your browser isn't closed even when it won't load the page

Finally checked out... took about four hours to go through the product, add it to cart, and actually check out.

Got my wife virtually in tears over her Visions of Fantasy Pug/Basset-Hound/Hamster Frostgrave Warband though... for a whopping $30. :-p So, i'd say it was worth it.

So apparently The War Store advertised and sold a ton of stuff they did not actually have inventory for. I just got an email saying that it is "looking unlikely" that 80% of my order will be fulfilled.

I am tempted to cancel the entire order, ask them to delete my account, file a fraud complaint with my credit card, and forever recommend that people do not shop with them.

Their service in the last few years has been exceptionally medicore, often veering into downright terrible. I miss the 2000's War Store. Lack of live inventory, selling things they can't get, and taking weeks to ship is unacceptable in the modern era of Miniature Market, Cool Stuff Inc, and, hell, every other online store out there that shows live inventory and ships same or next day and, y'know, won't lie to you.

I specifically did not shop at other online retailers and specifically didn't spend money on other things because I had already ordered with The War Store, so not only does it look like I'm not getting what I paid for but I passed up every other opportunity to purchase the same things at discount from other retailers (including my own FLGS' Small Business Saturday sale).

Sorry to hear that, Judge. I've had issues with them this year as well so I avoided their sale. As for CMoN, a few of their painting DVD sets are on sale for a hefty discount if anyone is interested. Down to ~$10 each.

I'm trying to see what I would need to buy to start a House Goritsi or House Shael Han army. Is one of every box ok or should I do something else. Also which books would I need?

I would get one of everything if for no other reason than the prices are so good.

As far as what you need, the starter box is a great choice. You can use double of everything except heroes. So buying an extra troop of each type is not a bad thing. As well as the specialists. Just don’t buy duplicates of anything with “hero” in the name.

The main book has all the rules and older models. The new book has the newer models and updated rules. I again would get both due to the price...

Wow, it sounds like I was quite fortunate to place my CMON order at 4 in the morning because it went right through no problem. I guess good can come from a bad night's sleep! :-)

How do you know which has hero in the name I don't see that. I only see character and character specialist box.
Also before I forget again thank you for replying and helping me.

Sorry, meant “character” not hero. Characters are specific people so you can only have one if a given character. They can be leaders or specialists. If it says character you can only have 1.

While it was slow CMON's site worked enough for me to pick up a few minis. They've got some werewolf models very reminiscent of Confrontation's wulven.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

Game Kastle's Cyber Monday deals seem to be their regular clearance, at least to my untrained eyes.

These CMON sales remind me of some of FRP's regular sales, and the ridiculous loot I've walked away with in the past.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

the Dreamforge order just arrived, and the return address is in Utah. Wasn't he in Southern California last year? Not a good sign.

Took over their stock as in bought them out? No wonder Shieldwolf had to end their association...

I don't know about Shieldwolf, but having gone to Game Kastle since they were a one shop operation they were always both a brick and mortar and online store. Why they had two separate names I dunno, maybe tax reasons or something, but the guy who owned the store was the one who ran FRP as well.

So then he was pulling a Prodos-Archon transformation? Now I want to know what the deal is. FRP used to be associated with Amazon. Now it has been dissolved or phoenixed out? This sounds like it's a dark mansion and dash of cosplay away from a Scooby Doo episode.

So would buying one of everything give me double of every troop type? I'm sorry if I'm being needy with asking all these questions just trying to digest all this information at once while I'm at working. Since I'm still new to the hobby. Thank you once again for all of this helpful information and being patient with me.
