Dammit. I was trying not to collect Nurgle, too... oh well.

This thing is strange...
It clearly doesn't look like 5W model to me, more like 8 or 10.
But if it is so, the dataslate in codex:daemons will invalidate one from codex:death guard.
Given the production cycle of GW they obviously knew way beforehand what kind of miniature they are planning for daemons, so why don't change dataslate for death guard? The DG codex even have the artwork for the new beast.

This puzzles me and makes me worry that the rules will remain the same.
This is a strange policy that GUO doesn't have the highest wound count and beasts of nurgle are kind of squishy as well.

I hope they will make new GUO tough as nails, with acceptable speed or means of transportation, customisable setup and synergetic with the rest of the army.
I don't particularly like how present greater daemons only affect Ld of the lesser daemons. At worst they should spread some rerolls aura like captains or lieutenants (or something more interesting, but i kind of gave up on GW's imagination), and at best they should make lesser daemons fearless.

I find it funny that most stubborn troops (on par with Tyranids) are black legion and alaitoc, but necrons and daemons can flee.

Apologies. Previous post content now makes no contextual sense. Didn't want the newly above poster to think I'm picking a fight!

Blobby mass? Large fringe of tentacles? Beast of Nurgle.

Yeah, definitely has that Jabba the Gorgon look, and the old Beast comes on a 60mm base as well.

The lost and the damned (which I believe that art is from) described beasts as being almost like big puppies, bounding around the battlefield and happily slobbering all over people, then sadly losing interest when their targets went stiff with paralysis. So maybe they are going back to that?

If that is indeed its tongue (looks like it to me, too) I'm tempted to to get one just to have it get strangled by a Leia Daemonette.

It almost looks too small to be a greater demon of nurgle; more akin to a beast of nurgle at that size - and the "hair" would fit as the beast was all cancerous style growths in a tangle.

A greater demon I would expect to be bigger than that.

Who said it was a greater demon?

Definitely a beast, it's a throwback to the Realm of Chaos era Beast of Nurgle.

If this follows the pattern set by Khorne and Tzeentch, we should also see an expansion in the Nurgle Rotbringers line.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

So, watching on a full screen, it LOOKS like a classic beast of Nurgle, but it also looks like somebody sculpted the tentacle hair onto the slug from the Blightwar box and skipped the rider. I'm HOPING for a 3 (or 6) pack of beasts, but it does look to me like the happy-slug's face from Blightwar. Fingers crossed that I'm wrong.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

it really looks exactly like the artwork from the Death guard codex, you can make out the tongue, the face and the bellymouth.

Good thing as the current beast of Nurgle is probably the ugliest Nurgle model on the market - and for once it's not the good kind of ugly I want to see as a Nurgle player.

I doubt we will be seeing multiples of the Beast. It's unit entry starts at 1. Chaos Spawn come 2 on a box, but it's entry starts at 1. Plague Drones come in 3, and their entry starts with 3. I very much doubt the Beast would come on 2s or 3s. The Blight Hauler didn't.

Given that it's digitally sculpted, I'd be surprised if there wasn't some ties/assets shared between the two.

I'm guessing we'll see them come 2 or 3 to a box for around $60 like the Dracoth Guard for Stormcast.

Its on a large oval base, do you think a 5 wound creature would be on that?

What if they are releasing new, updated rules for the new model?

Crazy, I know.

Edit: Beasts/Calvary go on ovals now, and if it's a big boy (which it has always been described as), being on a bigger base makes sense.

Hmm, based off a random beast that bounds around, possible set with Death vs Nurgle, multiple heroes to come...

Silver Tower but set in a Black Pyramid infested with Nurgle's host?

There's been nothing credible suggesting a Death versus Nurgle set.
The "multiple heroes to come" are for a campaign books/event, starting off the next "cycle" of the Age of Sigmar narrative called "Malign Portents". Each Grand Alliance is getting a single hero. We've seen the Death one.

Chaos Daemons comes in January so that's as good of a time as any to release the updated Nurgle stuff--which purportedly includes a Great Unclean One and the Beasts of Nurgle. There is a rumor that I've seen floating around that we're also going to see a Nurgle Rotbringers book for Age of Sigmar(Rotbringers are the Arcanite/Bloodbound equivalent--Mortal and Daemonic forces in one book), which might see "Poxwalker" and "Pestigor" kits released alongside of the book.

I've also, personally, been speculating that we'll see unridden Maggoth kits since those and Pestigors both got called out in 40k as part of the invasion of Cadia and Ultramar by Death Guard forces.

They've confirmed the Death hero, but we've also seen previews of Order and Chaos heroes (another Stormcast and the Darkoath Warqueen respectively) that may or may not be the Malign Portents heroes.

Wait, where's the new Stormcast hero? I can't find any info on him.

Just me taking a shot in the dark.

Maybe the Black Pyramid novel will be what the Silver Tower novel was.

Probably not but it's fun to guess.

The lord celestant is, to my understanding, for this december. Malign portents is still pretty far away.

Okay. I would be disappointed if the Order champion was just another Stormcast hero anyway. What about the Warqueen?

Beasts have had these characteristics back since the 4th ed (40k) & 7th ed (whfb) books.

We got no confirmation she was going to be the herald of chaos. It could go both ways but them introducing her without specifying she was going to be such hero might be a pointer to no (but who knows!)

Eh, as far I've seen she just doesn't have the Malign Portents title that the herald has so it's not official that she's one of the four.

Also, finally found the new Stormcast and that he was revealed two weeks ago. Completely missed it. :/

Well he looks awesome and I notice that some of the stuff on the engine speculated to be for Stormcasts isn't on him, so that's very interesting.

Ostensibly it's in January. Or at least our first "reveal" as to what it actually is.

Spoiler:

That's the Lord-Celestant for those who are interested.
