Years ago, I converted a Dark Angel Librarian, a Chaplain and a Techmarine, all on bikes. Now I see they no longer have rules in Dark Angels 8th, but I should still be allowed to take them using Index Imperium 1 right? I worked hard on them and by the Emperor´s balls I´m not gonna repurpose them!

Yep. The flowchart in the Designers' Commentary FAQ covers this.

Designers commentary (the 2nd version) answers your question fully.

Yes and no. They become DARK ANGELS but do not get RAVENWING.

Your Techmarine and Chaplain will not, because the "Techmarine on Bike" and "Chaplain on Bike" datasheets do not have that option. They will get DARK ANGELS though.

The Librarian on Bike however will "gain the DEATHWING keyword and the Unforgiven ability." as per the Index.

Now the Codex is out, the Codex, as well as Codex points for wargear.

The index power list.

This is explicit from the flowchart and the flowchart only allows for wargear to use updated codex rules, not powers.

We have the following scenario:

Does Your Model Have A Datasheet In A Codex? > No > Use The Index Version Of Your Model’s Datasheet

"Use The Index Version Of Your Model’s Datasheet" clearly means you must use the index and the index only. The points cost for the base model must come from the index, however any wargear that is in the codex you use the points from the codex, and any wargear NOT in the codex you use the points from the Index.

Think of it like Skyrim mods, loading the index first and the codex last. Anything that has a different points cost in the codex overwrites the Index, but anything that the index has that isn't in the codex stays index.

Obviously you can house rule this, but GW need to issue an errata or another special snowflake FAQ to allow for the Bikebarian to use the codex powers.

Because they don't make specific models for them. Same as all other removals from Index to Codex.

Because of the Chapter House Studio lawsuits.

The new mantra is No Model, No Rules. Got converted models? Too bad for you, no updated rules for you.

We were lucky to get Index options at all, and I guarantee they will be removed for 9th edition.

GW would rather cut off their own nose to spite their face, and remove options for their fans to convert models rather than let another company make models GW don't bother to.
