Heya Folks,
I just picked up the new Sly Marbo mini that was released at the GW stores today. However, though he does come with rules and a power level there was no point cost associated with him. Am I missing something or has GW said anything on this issue?

Well it was kind of an early release thing.
i assume on the actual release some time next year it will get a pdf or possibly some special catachan specific codex.

Sure, but if you just want to use him in friendly games for now then it's a decent rule of thumb, so long as your opponent is ok with it.
And no, this is not the same as just a homebrew character with making up points, because it would base the points in at least SOME precedent, even if it isn't cast iron.

65 points isn't too bad. Tough comparison to the assassins, but Marbo doesn't need to be in an aux detachment so he has that going for him. Without any kind of invuln save though, he's not going to last long on his own. Going in with other deep strikers or flankers does seem like his best bet.

65 points for something that dishes out 9 poison 2+ attacks pretty reliably to any character he wants then dies isn't all that bad. He's kind of a budget callidus. Definitely a suicide trooper though, unless the character you're hunting is isolated or in some cover.

I'm not sure what you were going for here, but I definitely did not understand it, I'm sorry.
Unless we're looking at different datasheets, Sly Marbo does not seem to have any way of dealing mortal wounds outside of his terribad explosive thing, which I'm not sure why you'd ever want to be using that instead of Stalk With Blade to ensure he can get shots off an then get into melee.

It's 100% safe for turn 1 and then allows you to vanish and do one of 3 again. As a minimum it's auto first thing. Otherwise you put it somewhere, shoot, maybe charge, either way with those weapons not killing much and then autodie

Ah, yeah, I think I see what you're saying now. So you turn up turn 1, use the Explosive thing, then turn 2 beginning of the movement phase he disappears and reappears at the end of the movement phase to do his suicide-stabby thing. Makes sense.

Yeah either suicide shoot&charge or more bombs depending on do you want bunch of no AP attacks or more mortal wounds. Either way would feel waste of him not to use that dissapear and come again ability. Unlikely you can get anything worth aiming for at turn 1 due to bubble wraps etc and that his attacks aren't THAT killy(and you can try to snipe target anyway with MW's and if intended target is well bubble wrapped could be even more likely to work...) so you should have time.
Plus maybe on turn 3 enemy army is in bad enough shape and not as clumped up he could even survive for another turn! Turn 1 is pretty much suicide run. Turn 2 and it's more of why didn't you just deploy it somewhere safe(like 1 infantry character model would be hard to cover for IG) and do the bomb and hide.

Another use for him is as a late game objective grabber or last turn line breaker. If you have the last turn they really can't stop him.

For objective grabbing yes they can by parking own unit on objective.
Also remember in matched play all units not on board by turn 3 are dead...

Lethal Ambush is not Reserves, though. Otherwise melding into shadows at any turn other than first or second would result in him just disappearing from the game!  He would only count as dead if you didn't deploy him by turn 6/last turn.

Edit 2: I was wrong on being wrong. Apparently explosives can still pick any unit on the battlefield. You can drop Sly on an objective and bomb someone across the battlefield.
