Let's assume Mad Dok Grotsnik (4 wounds, 5+ FNP and 6+ FNP) is hit and wounded by two rokkits (3 Damage each).
How many dice do I need to roll? Does it matter how many wounds the model has left?

First you roll 2 saves for the 2 incoming wounds. (obviously he fails those.)
Then you work out how much damage he's taking. 6.
Now that you are about to lose 6 wounds, you trigger any "whenever he loses a wound" ability 6 times. When there are still wounds about to be lost after that first ability, you resolve the second. If he is still about to lose 4 or more wounds, he is the dead.

If you have two FNP abilities you roll six times for the 5+. Lets say you roll two 5s. That ignores two wounds. Now you roll 4 times for your other FNP ability, and on 6+ you ignore those wounds as well.

Ok, so I add up all the incoming damage and then just roll through all the abilities I have. right?
There was an argument about Grotsnik only being about to lose two wounds if he has two left, so only two rolls were needed.

Yes.

No. You have to roll for each wound you suffer.

How is he getting 2 FNP rolls? I thought you couldn't stack the same rule. So having 5+++ and 3+++ rolls and getting 3 wounds you choose which save you want to make, not take one and then the other.

FNP is rolled against wound. Saves are rolled against damage.

It's not the same rule, they just both ignore wounds. You could even add the warlord trait for a third one.
The FAQ is 100% clear that you can take all of them.

Ah, I see. The OP just used FNP for both of his saves so I thought he was using the same rule.

To the best of my knowledge (though I haven’t picked up all the codices yet) there is no rule in 40k called “feel no pain” any more.
People just use the old acronym as a catch-all for a certain class of effects, specifically ones which allow a extra roll to negate a wound (over and above a regular save).
