The game plan with this is to crash into the enemy in waves.

Wave one, the gargoyles spawn 9" from the bubble wrap and attempt to punch holes in the bubble wrap using scorch bugs and single minded annihilation, then using their adrenal glands to try and tie up or kill some more bubble wrap. If the Gargoyles somehow survive, they will fly forward over the fallen back bubble wrap line and tie up the enemy backline.

Wave two are the Hormagaunts, who will attempt to push through the breaches made by the Gargoyles and start piling in and consolidating into the good stuff. Genestealers come out of their nodes at this point.

Wave three are the Stealers and Broodlord, who will hopefully finish the job.

To maintain Synapse, the Malanthrope will metabolic overdrive to keep pace with the Hormagaunts, also providing them with the sweet, sweet -1 to hit.

Pretty sure it would be impossible to play this in a tournament setting in a timely manner, but how do you think this would do on missions like ITC Champions? The list offers a lot of Reaper points to the opponent, but little else for secondaries. Depending on how well waves one and two do at tying up the enemy, board control should also be pretty good. One thing I was considering was dropping one of the 30 gaunt blobs for some rippers to hold backfield objectives and get Recon more easily. Not sure to do with the rest of the points if I do that though.

Also thought about swapping 30 hormies for 20 more Gargoyles to take part in wave one. It will be a lot harder for an opponent to remove 60 models in a single shooting phase than 40, which should make tying up the backline early on more likely.

I play behemoth myself, and so far I have experience about gargoyles and hormagaunts. They actually dont do much, gargoyles are good when they are 10-strong and capturing objectives, hormagaunts are good for you as a first wave, delivered by trygons. I played against orks and assaulted 20-30 ork boyz with 20 hormagaunts, they killed 3-5 boyz while orks wiped out entire unit of gaunts. Most important thing is genestealers nods, that has to be on your deployment zone, so basicly there is no benefit. Try to deliver with trygons or Tyrannocyte.

If you're planning on gargoyles, and infantry, in waves, you might look at. Leviathan. And spend the extra points on Warriors.

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER

I guess I should have specified this was probably going to be run as Kraken for the faster advances and charge after falling back. I don't expect the Gargoyles/hormagaunts to do any actual killing. The plan is to use them to tie as much of the enemy gunline up as possible while the Genestealers move up the board. The infestation node use isn't intended for delivery so much as to mitigate alpha strike and keep the deployment zone less crowded.

You do bring up a good point in that this list would have serious issues vs green tide. Any reason you wouldn't pop caustic blood on the Hormagaunts to kill an additional 4-6 Boyz?

Kraken is a big deal, but you lack killing power. Just a single unit of Hive Guard would be a huge deal in increasing the effectiveness of your list.

And if you're going to have that many bodies, I would heartily recommend a second Malanthrope. Gives you a better chance at prey adaption (HUGE for this list) as well as more -1 to hit, which is your primary form of defense.

I could swap the Broodlord for the second malanthropes. Or should I drop a unit of hormies instead?
