Sounds like the sequel to Lords and Tyrants in as much as a series of short stories can have a sequel. I’m reading that at the moment, bought the hardback and left it on the shelf until last week.

One of the best – and worst – things about being a Black Library fan is the release schedule; the excitement-building, wallet-breaking, never-ending stream of new novels, novellas, audio dramas, short stories, background books, art books, merchandise and all the rest. It’s brilliant because there’s never – EVER – a shortage of new content to read or listen to, but at the same time it’s tricky…in fact pretty much impossible…to keep on top of everything. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good problem to have, and I wouldn’t want Black Library to slow down too much, I don’t think!

One thing that would be nice, however, would be if BL provided a bit more up-front information about what’s coming out and when, to help us fans decide what we’re going to spend out hard-earned money on, and when we might need to save up a bit to prepare for busy release months or expensive individual releases. At the moment, it’s hard to keep track of upcoming BL releases – there’s the Coming Soon page on Warhammer Community but that has big gaps and isn’t updated very often; the occasional Warhammer Community article looking at previews/reveals from events like the Black Library Weekender; even the wider book trade, with websites like Amazon often updated with some information well in advance of books being published.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was ONE place you could check which consolidated all of that information, and clearly laid it out to help you plan ahead and decide what to buy and when? Well as it happens, I’ve been keeping pretty detailed information tracking BL’s upcoming releases (yes, I’m a massive nerd – but it helps me plan Track of Words content too!), and so I’ve put together a spreadsheet containing all of the information I can find. I’ve embedded it into this article, and I’ll endeavour to keep it as up to date as possible, so you can check back any time to see what’s coming up.

NOTE: it’s quite wide, so depending on what device you’re using you should be able to see at least the first couple of columns, but scroll right and you’ll get all the rest as well.

Here’s the spreadsheet:

Thanks for sharing. It is odd that Hammer and Eagle has been removed / pushed back, maybe too close to Dan's Lord of the Dark Millennium?

Aside from Inferno! #5 and it's reprints, only other thing I'm looking forward to on the list is Incarnation of the Covenant trilogy. Was hoping for another Agent of the Throne audio drama being announced as well, but alas.

I don't suppose an actual date for the Black Library celebration has been unveiled yet? I see 15th is listed as a tentative date, but would be nice to have an actual date, so I can try and get the day off then.

Just imagine that we had a section on the Black Library website that was updated monthly. The section would show all upcoming novels in their various formats. It would also show a short synopsis of the upcoming story. If we had something like that all the fans would be happy! It would be so popular only a fool would remove it from the website and replace it......

2019 was a brilliant year for BL fans and book releases. But it was badly soured by this stupid mistake.

Least its not as bad as Warhammer Art website which seems to have totally vanished from the community site links on the core GW site, but is still around and functional and selling art.

Honestly I really wish they'd abandon the whole "art" angle and just go for some good honest posters and framed posters and such. The prices on their prints are eye-watering. But when they also limit each one to 250 units and most still haven't sold out I think they've just got the wrong angle on them. Instead of pricing them all as fine art they really should split it into higher priced art versions (bigger, framed, metal etc...) and then do more affordable options. Heck they already do loads of card inserts (which are nice but CAN get damaged in transport) and their art each year for store anniversaries. I think if they sold more as a general product people would be more keen to grab a framed version at a higher price when they've already enjoyed a cheaper poster which shows them the overall quality of the product.

Agreed. Band posters are like 4 quid, but of course it's GW so they wouldn't cost that, but still, I'd pay ~20 quid for a good quality high resolution A3-size poster of, say, the 2nd ed Sisters of Battle codex cover art, or the Battlefleet Gothic box cover, some of Wayne England's stuff etc. But GW are fully wedded to their "always margin, never volume" strategy, so they'd rather not sell 250 expensive art prints than actually shift a few thousand only comparatively expensive posters.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

The framed prints from WA are crazy money but they can all be bought unframed for £35. A local framer will do a lovely job on them and it will still be half the price of getting it framed directly.
A while ago BL did sell a3 prints on nice linen paper for £20 but they didn’t sell overly well and then BL changed the paper to standard paper and ruined them completely. It was around then WA came out.
By far the best value art was the advent calander. But it’s problem was you had to buy all 25! But they worked out at less than £4 per print.

What was the mystery print of the advent by the way? I liked some of them, but getting 25 posters and nothing having a wall to put them on was a bit much for me.

It seems to be a character for something 40Kish - an Inquisitor. Also appears to have been done with a metallic printing effect on it.

It was a foil print of inquisitor Astor Sabbathiel. It is incredibly cool. She was investigating the dark anglels in the comics. I’m pretty sure there is a book coming out based on her this year but I don’t know anything about the plot.
The print is very steampunky with the background covered in foil cogs. It certainly wasn’t what I was expecting. I was pretty sure it was going to be a comedy red gobbo but the inquisitor Sabbathiel was much better.
The whole calendar was brilliant. Didn’t sell well so I doubt it will be done again.

Sabbathiel is also featured in inferno book 4. It I haven’t read it yet.

I'd wager if they'd just put straight normal prints into it they'd have got more sales. The whole "some are cinema style" might sound neat, but I think many just didn't want to risk potentially "goofy" adaptations. Plus the price was pretty steep. I think some steep things like that, esp in support material, is harder for GW to shift now than in the past becuase they are putting out so many models at the same time.

Even if you don't collect a wide range of armies the continual new releases can encourage people growing other armies to dip into their pocket for more - to ease that spending hype that GW builds up around products.

Not sure why they're trying to make Sabbathiel a thing, but personally I find that rather disappointing. Then again, was not a fan of the character in the comics and the short story didn't much for me either.

Like I said Sabbathiel is getting a book this year, obviously it’s a promo. It’s up on the German Amazon site so probably coming some stage this year. It’s by George Mann.

I have no idea how a print at under £4 can be considered expensive. Especially when it’s so beautifully presented and of such quality. The movie posters were very cool but my favourite by far were the recruitment style propaganda posters.

I don’t collect miniatures, I only buy occasional ones to paint but it’s rare so I spend on books and other support material. I’m past the stage of playing many games. GW know there are plenty of folk like me and these items suit us far more than the latest mini release.

kinda glad I picked up book 50 wwaayy back then

so they're ordered and on their way.

Looking forwards to finishing off the series and then, hopefully, maybe starting on the siege series in pprbck.

On a sidenote : over xmas/recently I read legacy of ash by Matt Ward.

If a bit of old school proper epic fantasy is what you are after then I can thoroughly recommend it indeed. Very satisfying and enjoyable, found it hard to put down at times.

A bit bizarre, but not too surprising, that book 50 is out in proper format, but we have to wait for 49 and 51, on the same future date. BL really couldn't get hammered in a brewery could they?
