The main novels are generally in the "coming next week" articles posted at 6pm on Sundays. The novellas they drop without warning.

Yeah, I was lucky I saw that tbh. It's nuts that there's not just a central source of this and that the BL newsletter doesn't go out saying "this book will be available to pre-order next week."

The artificial scarcity of these limited edition novels is annoying. I’m sure they could sell several times to numbers of books if only they’d make them.

The emails from GW are next to useless. You just know as well that this evening Warhammer Community will publish their “Preorder Now” article telling you that the next Siege of Terra book is on sale despite it selling out hours ago. The only reliable way to keep on top of GW/ BL releases is the “Next Week’s Preorders” article that gets posted on Warhammer Community on Sunday evening UK time.

Managed to get one of these. Only one of these I’ve had to buy from eBay has been the Horus Rising one that if I wanted to pay regular price for I would of had to pay someone to run my business for the weekend, buy a plane ticket, book a hotel and buy a ticket for BL live. So £100 on eBay was a bargain (bit of a stretch I know but I have to live with myself some how).

General consensus in the UK is that the Saturday morning email from BL seemed to arrive about 8 minutes past 10, a mere 2 minutes after the book had sold out on the webstore.
Gather the paucity of availability of these releases was raised at the last BL event, short answer is they will not be increasing the numbers printed for future releases of this series as they will not -- cannot ? -- reprint the earlier ones and they dont feel they'll sell more than those as people will only buy them if they already have them.
...*shrugs*..
Given I've seen 'grabs of people on e-bay selling up to 8 copies of this book.. well...
track of words
has a short and fairly spoiler free mini interview with Mr Abnett about the book/story.
ToW: What was your preparation for this book like? How much research did you have to do in order to make sure you had all of the details right?
DA: I did a vast amount – more than any planning and research I’ve ever done for a project. For example, I had to map the Palace. I actually spent a long time mapping everything out, for my benefit and for the benefit of the writing team, consolidating locations. My map is now the ‘standard map’ we all work off. You have to remember, the series is a team effort, written by a “writer’s room”. The Heresy series always has been, but with the Siege it’s become even more intense: we meet regularly, and we share our work in progress, and we brainstorm, and we check each other for errors and oversights.
It’s a wonderful and refreshingly exciting collaborative effort, a real change from the usual ‘solo life’ of an author. During Saturnine, I had an ongoing email thread with the editor and the other writers: we conversed every day (I also Skyped with different authors to benefit from different areas of expertise). I used the ongoing thread to ask questions and bounce ideas. I also kept a print-out of the thread for reference, and by the end it had run to 150 pages (printed two-up). I also accumulated a stack of reference books that took six trips to remove from my office at the end. A HUGE amount of research and reference.
Part of me thinks that exchange of mails would -- largely -- be a fascinating glimpse into the thinking behind things here , although more realistically one suspects it probably wouldn't be all that TBH
But on a kinda related note, Mr McNeill put up a picture to do with his thoughts on "The Crimson King"

They moved the release date back by a month or so due to it coinciding with the BL Weekender IIRC. I've also had it on my shelf for more than a month now, courtesy of the Book Depository.

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/03/23/get-a-full-audiobook-for-just-99p/
If you’re stuck at home right now and need entertainment, Black Library has got you covered.
Right now, and for the next seven days, you can download our audiobook of the week for just 99p* from the Black Library Audio App. Then next week, you can get another. And the week after that – in fact, we have loads of fantastic audiobooks lined up for you to enjoy over the coming weeks and months.
These are full and unabridged audio versions of some of Black Library’s finest novels – starting this week with Dan Abnett’s I Am Slaughter. This is the first volume in The Beast Arises series, which sees the Imperium wracked by a massive ork invasion 1,500 years after the Horus Heresy. With over five hours of intense action written by the master of war and starring the Imperial Fists, this is a great way to pass the time – perhaps during a marathon painting session!
To make it easy to buy, download and listen to your audiobooks, check out the Black Library Audio App. Available for Android and iOS devices, this app lets you choose from more than 400 audiobooks and audio dramas. You can listen to extracts, purchase audios, then listen to them right there in the app on your phone and tablet. Your account syncs across devices on one platform, so if you have an iPhone and iPad, you can listen to your purchased books on either, and the same if you have an Android phone and tablet.
If you’re more of a reader than a listener, you can also pick up the eBook of I Am Slaughter for 99p from BlackLibrary.com – and the same will be true of each book of the week. Go and grab your copy of this story, and be sure to check back next Monday for another book of the week.

Regrding print on demands that were made before the great closure
Thank you for placing your order for The Ratmen and All Their Vile Kin. We wanted to get in touch with you today regarding your order, and let you know what is going on with the Print on Demand process. As you can imagine, in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, and the steps Games Workshop has taken to protect its customers and staff, this is not quite as straightforward as we would normally like.
First of all, your order is in our system and is perfectly safe and secure - and we aim to process it just as soon as things are back to normal.
At the moment the plan is for these books to be shipped out to you as soon as we can, just as soon as we get the all clear from the government that our staff can return to work safely.
We appreciate that this may change your situation somewhat, so if you would like to discuss making any changes to your order in terms of delivery, please let us know right away and we will see what we can do for you.

I’ve gotten it anyway, but it may make a difference where it gets placed in the Audio Queue..

I liked in until the final fight. It was really weird that the author chose to make Custodes weaker than they should be, especially after showing how awesome fighters they are in the first novel and the Vaults of Terra. That number of Custodes plus Sisters should slaughter that number of Marines without a problem. Also Valerian being not sure of winning vs Chapter Master was a final nail, basically the level of absurd from the Outcast Dead (which otherwise I really liked as a novel) or The Beast series(I think it was in a 5th novel). Other than that it was a good read and I am looking for the next one.
