Amongst the new shinies, tucked in the back of the mag, WD/GW made a change. A turnaround. Something I don't think I've seen for at least a decade.

They printed a hobby article. An actual, honest to god, hobby article, not a thinly disguised advert or paint guide.

Using and encouraging the use of bits from a hardware store (PVC piping, bit of gutter I think) in combination with bits from your stash.

Have I missed something or is this the first time in a long time?

My group of old grognards were certainly surprised (and pleased). I'm pleased. It's really, really good to see.

Now - have I missed something over the past few months or years, or is this a definite sign of the 'new GW' that everyone seems to agree is better than Kirby's reign?

If you go back to one of the early 'New Dwarfs', and the letters page, you'll find a printed letter from moi asking for just that.

Haha... I noticed this too. We've become acclimated to a certain way of things that this article... It was weird and confusing... yet at the same time comforting - kind of like coming home after being away to for a very long time.

I also liked the painting article that showed various color palettes for Plaguebarres and how they referenced the color wheel for each palette.

You must be mistaken. Have you taken a look through the entire magazine to make sure that GW isn't coming out with their own line of FineplumbingTM?

Hopefully it comes with very large warning signs to put on the outside of such properties...

You just don't have the foresight to appreciate GW taking their fan favorite award winning Finecast tech to the field of plumbing. Imagine the narrative you can forge with piping as good as finecast but now the holes are functional! Every 12" section comes with a free random leak chart! :-)
