What is the cheapest ways to get heavy weapon teams? I am building 6 x mortars and 3 x lawcannons. I saw anvill had some cheap weapons, then I would only need bodies? Or are IG weapon teams cheaper?

Cheapest you may find will probably be ebay 2nd hand ones and strip them.

the 3rd party resin stuff still add up to be comparable or more than gw plastic.

Can't promise you they are the cheapest option, but I can guarantee Anvil quality is amazing.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Oh no doubt Anvil vic mad robo they are all fantastic quality.

I guess you could do historical weapon teams too though ymmv.

Oh alternativly you could do Eisenkern Stormtroopers Support Weapons from dream forge

for 35 its 3 teams and a butt load of different weapons but each stand has 3 dudes instead of two so with some extra bases you may be able to knock out a few more teams. (not 100% on it as i dont have the kit)

I don't know how well it would work, but maybe buy 1 heavy weapon squad, that comes with 3 lascannons, 3 mortars, and convert the other 3 mortars from the missile launchers? Then you have to convert stands and shields for the weapons. Then you need 12 more guardsmen, the problem is the lack of kneeling legs but maybe you can get away with it since you want lots of mortars? Maybe you can find some cheap ebay models to try and get the extra parts.

Honestly?
2 Cadian Heavy Weapon boxes
2 boxes of Cadians

You'll be able to build 6x Mortar Teams out of the standing Cadians.
You'll then be able to use the kneeling Cadians from the Heavy Weapon Squad boxes to build 6x Lascannon Teams.
You'll then have some leftover Cadians to do whatever you want with.

Kanlu's a little short on the count with that idea.

The key is in not using kneeling miniatures unless you have to.

-Standing troops can have missile launchers, standing troops can support kneeling gunners (Binoculars, etc)

So with 20 standing cadians and 12 Kneelers, you can do:

6x Mortars, with Standing Teams.

6x Missile Launchers, Standing Teams.

6x Lascannon Teams - 1 Kneeler/1 Stander.

6x Autocannons - 1 Kneeler/1 Stander.

6x Heavy Bolters - Find a bipod, use the Flamethrower arms to have the gunner supporting it on the bipod, have the second guy as a loader. These are likely to be both standing, so you could also use a piece of scenery to support the gun.

That's 30 guardsmen out of the 36 you get, and a maximum presentation of heavy weapons.

Aha, so all the heavy wepaon people are lying doiwn / kneeling, so one box has 6 kneeling/laying down bodies? Then I can grab some mortals and whatever anvil has that looks like a lascannon as a lacannons. And then some infantery. Cool cool. Is that right?

One box has 3 sets of sprues with 2 sets of kneeling legs and generic torsos with them.
That box also has 3 sets of sprues with the heavy weapons themselves on them. There is a bipod for the Missile Launcher(which really doesn't need it!) and the Mortar(which does need it!). There's a tripod for the Lascannon, Heavy Bolter, and Autocannon.

Where things get restrictive is for the tripod mounted weapons. There is only one set of the 'gun yoke' arms per Crewman sprue. I generally would advise against the suggested "heavy bolter" conversion as it tends to look kind of naff.

Now, if you were to buy any Basilisks? They include the crewman sprue with that set. So that would give you some more kneeling legs and gun-yoke arms!

So a bit spammy.

Could this Tesla be a lascannon?

http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/regiments-heavy-support-weapons/regiments-tesla-annihilator-heavy-support-weapon

These can help with the weapon sett up:

http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/regiments-heavy-support-weapons/regiments-heavy-weapon-tripod

http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/regiments-heavy-support-weapons/field-gun-platform

And then arm to mortars:

http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Infantry-Arms-Shoulder-Pads/armoured-arm-mortar

And arms to heavy weapons?

http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Infantry-Arms-Shoulder-Pads/armoured-arms-heavy-weapon

A lot of links, but those suporting the heavy weapons should function quite well. And then I would need some more bases.

Yeah, the arms with spade grips for the Autocannon/Heavy Bolter/Lascannon are where you hit a proverbial wall. Anvil does have various arms for weapon teams that include more spade grip hands.

The tripod mount missing is the other catch. Anvil's mounts are mostly designed to work with GW and their own stuff.

Once you have the designs you want to employ, then yes you will need more 60mm round bases.

I was mainly aiming to point out how far you can go with the boxes suggested.

The IG vehicles can be useful source of extra gunner arms. I’ve also used Vic’s heavy weapon carriages for my lascannons and auto cannons, leaving the tripods for the heavy bolters, but that probably doesn’t fit into the “cheapest” way of doing things; but has maximised the number of weapons I got out of a box.

Don't forget the prone option. The advancing step legs work well for this.
