I'm looking to add 1-2 contemptors into my death guard to act more as a mid field heavy support role (yeah I know it's an elite slot).... It looks like for ranged options the double butcher cannon is the best choice.
I normally run a standard chaos lord + combiplasma blightlord drop, 2 squads of rhino plasma plague marines, two drones, and a mix of characters / pox walkers / etc to fill out lists.

Anyone have any feedback with similar setups or something better? Thanks

Well, I go double C-Beam, but that probably isn't what you want. Otherwise i'd probably go butcher cannon, too.

With C-Beam it can bet out of range of lascannons with good setup and hurts vehicles just as effectively as infantry. The only downside is it can't move ever if you want to shoot.

Add it using the FW index. It just fills an elite slot

Yes both the model and stats are FW.

I think Soulburner on a chainclaw, with a Kheres assault cannon, is a good way to go. The contemptor revels in CC, with regen, 4++ and when kitted for it, 4 WS2+/S14/-4/4D attacks, so I like to use them to pressure the board, and threaten high value targets. The guy can drop most tanks in one round of CC. The soulburner is assault d3, so you just hit on a 2+ and hand over that many mortal wounds. It's very nice in a lot of situations. Kheres is cheap and useful. Comes in at 203pts, so if you want a cheaper version, drop the soulburner for a combi-bolter, for 175pts.

I've been thinking about adding one of these. Just hard pressed to want to replace helbrute with lascannon and missile launcher. Wish contemptor had las canon as an option.

I've been using one with Kheres and Deathclaw, usually it just gets blown to bits by the Demolishers it runs against. Nasty business, those ones.

Been wondering about the Soulburners though, should one try a pair of those? Double fists running around dealing 2d3 mortal wounds as it goes does sound pretty tasty, especially on terrain heavy tables like we tend to use. The real question I wonder is, still, is it worth it to take extra Havoc launchers on them (as is possible per FAQ)?

Double Soul is already in the 230pts region, isn't it? I've thought about it muself but it's a bit rich... Havoc on top is even more so!

Per CA, Hellforged Contemptor is 103 + 50 for double claw (or 55 for double chains) and + 60 for two Soulburners, aka 213-218. Havoc is 10 on top of that, if I recall correctly. Getting into the pricey territory, yes, but not massively so for something that does eradicate most heavy vehicles it gets its claws on. Then again, they might be a better fit on the long range Dreads who should anyway be shooting all the time with that sweet 2+.

Where do you see the Hellforged deathclaw is 50 for 2? Index Forgeworld says it's 40pts per claw? And the Contemptor itself is 116 in the book. I looked through the faqs and the big update and did not see the changes.

Chainclaw is my favorite (either with a butcher cannon, or go big with double claws and soulburners). -4ap and flat 4 damage is just ridiculously good. The thing punches way above it's weight.
Butcher cannon is good, but the -1ap makes it not the greatest anti-vehicle weapon. It's not like the loyalist storm cannons, which shred pretty much anything with weight of fire and good ap.

I'm a fan of the two claw variant. They're great for dealing with monsters and vehicles. Plus your tactics are straight forward with then. Just don't throw them against hordes.
