We’ve seen special models and units for several chapters, but I’m not aware of any special models/units for Salamanders. If were to get an army done up like Blood Angels, Dark Angels or Space Wolves, what would be some units you would like to see
Some ideas:
Hellfire squad: A devastor-like squad armed with flamers & meltas.
Drakon riders: an alternate bike squad, riding dragon-like creatures - sort of like thunderwolf calvary
Hellhammers: marines armed with Thunderhammers and stormshields (terminator armor optional)
Wyrmtalon: modified Stormtalon, with melta/flame weapons
Wrymlings: Assault squad with dragon wings (ala the blood angel assault squad that has angel wings)
Wyrmclaws: Terminator close assault with meltaclaws (instead of lightning claws)

How about a functional Aggressor squad with flame gauntlets?
It'd be nice if a Salamander character/stratagem/trait increased the range of flame weapons so that they'd be useful to troops. Or, if they allowed flamers to be used in over watch regardless of the distance the attacker started at.

We just need to get those special units released when Vulkan returns lol. Honestly, doubt the Sallies will get their own chapter-specific units other than HH FW ones since they fall under codex marines. But I hope I am wrong!

would be nice if we got pyroclasts(or something like it) for 40k.
longer range on flame/melta would make sense, im kinda mad that the infernus cannon on my deimos pred only has a 9" range. it's lame that it has the same range as a heavy flamer but is like 3x bigger.
I've toyed around with putting a capt on an AOS magmadroth and running it like a bike.

Most of those things are not something that can't be created from a unit that already exists. I do agree each set of Chapter Tactics should have a unique unit though.

I'd say go Pyroclasts for "the Salamanders unique unit". In 30k they're packing 2+ armour and a flame projector (modal weapon firing either as a flamer or a slightly weaker meltagun), in 8th you'd probably want to give them a 3+/5++ or an FNP rather than a 2+ (given that they've taken artificer armour away from the HQ selection...).

True, and I’d certainly be for truly unique units. Mostly it would be possible asthetic changes to the models to “Vulkanize” them I suspect - give them a look that makes you go “yep, those are Vulkan’s children alright”.

Try Forgeworld. There's an awesome Apothecary, a pretty fun 2nd Company Captain and an insane dreadnought with twin supercharged flamers and FnP and a 4++ that's also a Character

yeah Bray'arth Ashmantle is pretty badass. I almost bought him but chose the Relic Contemptor instead, but I will buy him at some point. he's just really expensive (20pl/400pts)
