Subject: Breacher Squads in 40k

I'm just wondering how I could possible take breacher squads in 40k. I like the look of the breacher squads from 30k, but their are no specific rules for them in 40k. I can't imagine Space Marines would get rid of units like that. How could/would bring them over? Could you bring them as regular tactical squads and just use the shields as "eye candy" or is there a way to possibly bring them over how they should be, ie with shields and all?

Command Squads - 'Company Veterans'. They can most of the good guns, and can also take storm shields. Only problem is you're limited to units of max 5 and the Sgt. must take a combi weapon instead.

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement. |

I plan to use them as Intercessors. Shield represents that extra wound. Simple.

Also you could run them as Deathwatch models. All Deathwatch Veterans can run a Stormshield in addition to bolters or whatever. The problem being Deathwatch kinda sucks right now in the current game iteration without having a codex. Once their codex is released, I have a feeling they'll be a solid army but doubt overpowered at all due to their elite nature.

What special rules/abilities do they have in 30K? I like the visuals of the models, but is the big thing they just get some armor bonus to saves?

I've seen them used as Tacticals in games of 40k. I don't have a problem with that.

The Breacher shield gets them defensive grenades (no charge bonus against them) and an Invulnerable save (5+, I think, but it might be 6+ v. range and 5+ v. melee), but slows them down a bit. Their other major characteristic was 'void-hardened armour', which let them reroll saves against blast/template weapons.
The big reason they aren't present in 40k at present is that their role was taken over by Terminators during the Heresy.

Yeah did that in 7th with 4 storm shields and 4 melta guns and a Apothecary. Running Iron Hands they were a tough little unit.
Not the best photo but it's the only one I got.

The Mk3 ones from FW and I have a single Headhunter upgrade pack from them as well laying around. Those Combi-Bolters will be my showing of any Aux Grenade Launcher.
It's a simple idea that goes a long way I feel.

They used to have a 40k equivalent in the siege assault list which let they reroll their save at the cost of being slower. if we want breachers in 40k we'll just have to wait and see if/when FW redoes the Badab war stuff.

I don't how I would feel about old Marines proxied as Primaris Space Marines... probably won't fly at a lot of tournaments.

Primaris really aren't that much taller, I like Mk3-5 better anyway, and wargear is presented with minimal issues.

Assuming you're differentiating between primaris and non-primaris in some way, what's the problem? I suppose I could see a tournament crying foul, but it seems like a pretty reasonable counts-as to me.

They are shorter that right there could make a difference.

But it isn't by a lot. The only person that would throw a problem would be the kind of person that throws a fit in general about not using official models.

Right, I don't own any primaris but from the pics they're only taller by a few mm. Add a bit of terrain to the base and you can easily make up the difference. Being shorter could be a detriment as well as a benefit too; you may be slightly harder to see, but you also have slightly less ability to see the enemy to shoot them.

If you add some height that would go a long way. It could still be gamed though.
