An acquaintance of mine is going to one the events where an warhammer world stand will be
https://warhammerworld.games-workshop.com/the-travelling-stand/

I am of two minds about asking him to get me something from there, but honestly I am not entirely sure if the stand has anything worth paying a visit (he is an historical wargamer exclusively and don't want to ask him to go to a stand that doesn't interest him without any good reason). Is there any material exclusive to those stands? Or is just a way of getting stuff without shipping? Knowing GW I doubt they would sell stuff at discount

The main thing that's worth a look is the Forge World stand - they have pre-release and event exclusives. Plus you can save on the crazy expensive postage.

However - there is normally a HUGE queue and they have normally sold out of a lot of stuff unless you get there really early.

Whenever I've attempted to get stuff from the one at Salute I have queued for over an hour and only been able to get half of what I wanted....

It's usually best to pre-order stuff in advance and collect your order at the event itself.

Event exclusive models by the way are now limited to one per buyer for the first half of the event, all restraints are off during the latter part of the day though.

Why bother? turn up at fifteen minutes before the end of the show, order what you want and get it delivered with free postage. Easy.

Yeah, the Forge World guys will ship anything they don't have on hand to your home for free.

The problem with buying things at the travel stand is then you need to keep them with you throughout the event. I tend to lose things at conferences and don't want to carry around a few hundred dollars worth of kit.

Typically, they should be carrying the Rogue Trader and now Realm of Chaos re-prints.

That's reason enough for me to attend one!

I made that mistake years ago, when I bought Imperial Armour volumes 3 and 4 and then had to spend the rest of the weekend lugging them round London.
