I almost did on the premise of voting that I'm not planning to before I bothered to read the rest of the sentence.

Ultimately I'm mildly curious about baby knights, but the Necron and AdMech stuff doesn't really interest me.

If you can split it seems relatively cheap.

Tempted to buy 1 or 2 Necron sets, plus the new start collecting, to go with the old start collecting (bought a year or so back), and then a few more things to have a pretty reasonable Necron collection.

But... feel I like the idea of Necrons more than the models themselves. And I already have a big list of things to paint.

The Knights do nothing for me - like regular knights.

It's just not for me. I don't like knights, I don't like smaller knights. I don't like Ad Mech, and I don't like Necrons. I'm excited they are expanding the range for Ad Mech and look forward to trashing them and Necrons in upcoming games.

This is really the only correct answer

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

It's not just cheap, It's about as inexpensive it can get. Assuming the unique Cryptec model (which I love) costs about $40CAD, you can get $180 worth of Necrons for $75-80 by splitting it.

Yeah that's the boat I was in. I needed everything in the box and when I realized I was paying $20 per knight, the skitsrii squad, and even getting the dominus at discount, it seemed a no brainier, even if the knights suck right now.

At this price, you can afford to special order or convert whatever weapons come out in the future and it's still no skin off your bones. Considering one knight will probably run between $50-$75 in the future, 2 for roughly $40 brand new on sprue is hard to pass up.

I clicked "not planning to buy", but I might be interested.

I'm interested in adding AdMech and Grey Knights armies to my repertoire, because they're the last forces of the Imperium I don't have that I also like. The one real thing keeping me from buying AdMech is that, for the faction all about machines, are really lacking in tanks. The Onager is a kind of spider-thing that looks like a heavy sentinel, which I'm sort of divided on but don't really mind, but I want something that visually evokes the feel of the Ordinatus Minorii that I could use in a normal game.

I also have a friend who started Necrons recently, and could definitely use some lychguard and a cryptek at the very least, and even if her and I split 50/50 it would be a really good deal for her.

However, I'm not interested in the miniknights. I don't have any big knights and have no interest in either. Fortunately, I also have a different friend who has 5 big knights, whom I might be able to convince to split with me too. However, he hasn't played recently and might not be up for it, on the grounds that he also have 5 big knights and may not feel inclined to add miniknights, and doesn't play so often on account of university.

If I can arrange a 3-way split, along the lines of $45-$45-$70 or somesuch, that would be sweet and I would buy it. But if either aren't interested, I can't really see myself buying it.

Though, admittedly, if my necron friend got really excited about it, I'd go ahead and split it with just her, since it's a win in every way for me. I'm not overpaying for what I'm getting, I wanted it anyway plus 2 miniknights added on for free, it gets me over the threshold, and it bulks up and adds flexibility and power to her small force and a place to build on, so we'll both have better games.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

It sounds like you fall more squarely in the 'planning to acquire some or all models of a single box set' than the 'not planning' as you just laid out some pretty solid plans.

I only wanted the Armiger. Quit cheap on a reseller site, so I'm good until more armigers are released.

I will most likely pick up at least one or two!

My necron force is in the early stages so all the Necron parts of this kit will have use to me. The only bit that might become a waste would be the cryptek and that would likely be only if I got more than 2 boxed sets.

The Necron components alone would cost £79 brand new and the whole Forgebane kit is £95. So in my view a whole box of troops, a leader and two mini-knights for £16 is an insane steal of a deal. A hard one to pass on and even though I'm not buildling an ad-mech army I could see myself holding into those sprues to have the option to start one up (and if I didn't they could be resold and easily cover the £16 invested in them)

I can well see that if one already has a large Necron force then the Cryptek isn't enough to tip the scales to buy and is likely better to try and pick up from a split kit if that's all they want. Ad-mech players I can see having more justification as the unique units in this for them will likely cost at least around £50% of the total price of the boxed set so there's potentially more gain for them in this kit. Though if the prices on broken up complete kits are low enough then I can see them also just grabbing them on ebay and the like.

All in all I think its a great kit; the bonus is that because both of the armies are very similar in theme I'd say its got more justification for single person purchases than some other combintions (indeed thinking on GW's range there aren't many combos that would work well like that - and most of those combos would just be marines and marines or marines and guard)

By sheer retail value, splitting is going to be great for both sides, but moreso for the AdMech side due to the likely ~$50 USD retail price of the Armigers when they are released.

I think Necron players should only be paying about $65 for a fair split.

I already have all of those Necron units (though the other kit sprues may come with the box... though GW changed that with the Start Collecting Bestclaw Raiders box as you can only build a Stonehorn not a Thundertusk like you can with the individual Stonehorn box) in an army adding up to 2000 point already (with the obvious exception of the new Cryptek model)

When it comes to the AdMech... I'd love to to start collecting some AdMech, but we don't know the point values of the Armiger yet. That said, I can't see if them adding up to even 1000 points. Would it be a good place to start for people wanting to collect either? Absolutely. Is it something I'm interested in putting my money into right now? Nah.

I just bought from ebay one Armiger for 28 pounds plus 2 for shipment. They are cheaps as chips, probably because of their rules.

But I also bought one box to split with a friend, necrons for me, the rest for him.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

The thing is, me getting any of it is mainly driven by whether other people want it. If nobody else is going in or interested in going in, I won't acquire it by myself, but I'd be willing to split it if the other people desired it.

It's a really good deal, though.

The forgebane box is an Excellent option for anyone who want's to start a Necron or Ad.Mech army if they combine it with the respective "start collecting" boxes.

With Forgebane we will easily see both halves up for sale on ebay and such just like Dark Imperium for those who just want one half of the box.
