Lovely lovely details on this dude, It's going to be a challenge to do this beauty the justice it deserves...

haha yeah, my brother already called me out on that one ...I was real tired and feeling kinda lazy at the time and just couldn't be bothered drilling metal, and it didn't look that bad in person...was hoping I could just be cheeky and get away with it - nope! ...I am definitely glad I did it now though

I was going to enter a large-scale Rhodesian Selous Scout model for this month but time has gotten away from me and I just won't have time to do it. I'll hang onto it and hopefully he will fit a future theme.

All the best for everyone taking part - already some lovely entries in.

Those models look great SmallChanges - really characterful.

Tim121RVC, your skaven conversion is awesome as well - I'm a little jealous 'cos I want him for my own Shadespire skaven!

Para, those Escher girls are really nice also - look forward to seeing the rest. (I also thought YOU asking about a proof pic was pretty funny given how fast you paint!)

Kustomer D - I cannot agree more about finecrap, it is extremely frustrating when most of your paint job is just trying to correct flaws in the casting. I have a bit of a similar problem with my entry this month (even though mine are metal). I really like the job you've done on the plasma vents - the colour fade is really top-notch.

Power Elephant - that is one of the strangest/most interesting models I think I've ever seen and your paint is very effective - it's quite fascinating...I can't stop looking at it...

Anyhoo, even though I have left it a bit late again, I am going to try to get these guys done. I've wanted to paint them for quite a while now - I think Magneto and The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants should count as agents of chaos, shouldn't they?
I'm not sure who the hell calls themselves 'Evil Mutants', though... The woman is officially meant to be Lady Mastermind but I am probably going to paint her as Mystique instead because she is more iconic for THE BROTHERHOOD OF EVIL MUTANTS!!!

A progress shot on my Starweaver. It's probably gonna come down to the wire for me this month, but I'm optimistic that I'll manage to finish.

Will there be a poll going up for next month? I've got a marine captain on a bike I'm itching to work on, but if he could fit in with next month's theme then I want to hold off.

Aight, let's get this show on the road, with METAL!

To those who played Brütal Legend, you may remember the very start of the game, where he faces a bunch of cultist-looking demons called "Druids". Eddie is for a friend, so I decided to go the extra mile and attempt to create my very first mini diorama.

And to celebrate this month's theme:

Well, two rounds of photos later...and it still looks like our adventurers have decided to go wandering in the mists. I'm about out of energy for photos, so we'll go with the ones I've got. Annoying, because the last two months didn't really have this problem.
Anyways, final photos:

Final pics. Not happy with them. I built them years (possibly decades) ago, and did a crappy job of it. Bad mold lines, misaligned arms, the works. The sculpts are pretty horrid to boot. But they are done now, and can join the 4 I did for last April’s comp on the shelf. Well, they can when I find a spot for my old chaos army and get them settled in.

Hope to enjoy my entry next month a bit more then these guys. Felt like a chore getting them done. I had a lot more fun painting the 2 eldar guardians I was working on as a side project.

Hi all apologies for my absence on this thread. The last 2 weeks or so have been very hard with a combination of a succession of illness for the children and wife (although not me....yet) and a lot of stuff going on at work.

My entry does have some paint on it, but I'll probably have to scale back the idea to wet blend most of the larger surfaces to get it finished in time.

Para really good Escher models.. I like that you lighten the hair, it really draws the eye up to the head and the top of the model.

AUGmaniac, you have made those thousand sons look distinctly evil

Zobo. there are certain old models that I love from the orks/orc. your entry being one of them. I like the flame details that links all the parts of the model together. I was going to say drill the gun barrels but looks like you already caught that one;

nice posse Kustomer D, and you have done a very good job with the plasma effect on the guns.

A shame you can't make it this month Oppl, I've really enjoyed your last entries.

TheDraconicLord, very entertaining entry, good idea putting them together on a diorama base as well. Well done on the little details like the shoe laces.

Shame the photos have gone a bit misty Vejut, you always find very interesting models for your entries.

Lol Nev well done for getting them done. your chaos army is slowly growing. some target practice for your Ultras

Keep going everyone, just a few more days to finish.

Good luck staying germ-free in the house of Nurgle.

My Chaos army is mostly dead. I had both Undead and Chaos armies for 5-6th WHFB. I was going to reboot my Chaos for 8th, and even picked up the army book, but then AoS dropped. With the rules being free for the armies, I decided that it would be easier to modernize my Death army then Chaos. They were my first and favorite fantasy army anyway. Aesthetically Chaos has come a long way from my old stuff anyway, so even if I wanted to flesh it out, it would look weird. Death is more coherent with my old collection.

All that said, I think these 3 guys bring me up to a 10 man squad of marauders, so could actually be fielded.

Ok Im done too.

Spoiler:

Bane is one of my favorite batman villains and I had a lot of fun painting him.

But I have to say I really dont like metalic miniatures. I havent bought one for a while now but this was a gift. I had forgoten what a pain in the they are to paint. The paint chips so easily. I will never complain again about how easily resin miniatures break

I tried to get most colors close to the colors Bane has in the movie but he is wearing some pretty weird colors.
I really like how he turned out though. At first I wasnt sure about the skin but i think i like it now. For some reason some parts of the skin are too bright in the photos.... And I think the pants look too similar to the base but they are not really.

opps meant Zobo,

I must be too used to typing your name Zerg

Fair enough Nev, I still have my old Fantasy armies from when I was small, Orcs and Dark Elves sitting there waiting to be reused (and repainted, the 12 year old me was not a fan of watered down paints).

straken619, you have done good job on Bane and sounds like you had fun too which is the most important bit

Well done for getting them in craggy, I like that you have mixed it up a little and one of them has a red head/skin tone. Nice idea

Feltmonkey, you painting with Marmite now? will your experimental techniques never end!

When I was building them I wanted all the two-handed axe guys to have the horned helmets, but this one isn't a helmet, so I figured he was in the process of being blessed into becoming a Bloodletter or something.

ah cheers MG ...yeah, I really love all the metal ork sculpts from around that time, late 90's-early 00's...a real golden decade for ork sculpts in my opinion...I just wish I'd known about warhammer back then, so I could've bought a load of them without having to now go to ebay and get hit with the good ol' "RARE OOP!1!!" markup!

he was a fun one to paint anyway ...I may have gone a touch overboard with the extra little freehand bits, but hey, I figure he'd be quite a venerable old nob by now, and I imagine being the waaagh banner bearer would make him a pretty flash git too, so I feel he probably would have some pretty snazzy gear - which as we all know, for orks, means loads of bright flashy decoration!
...I did try to keep a vague sense of balance, and a vaguely coherent scheme, while still making it as orky as possible, with the bulk of him, and the base, being fairly dark and muted, black, dark brown, murky green, grey...in contrast with the bright flashy colours, specifically the red and yellow kinda flowing around the model.

all in all, I'm pretty pleased with how he turned out, and also how he's performed on the table since I finished him!...so far I think he's shot a few guardsmen, and a dark angels marine, and given several more guardsmen, a couple of guard vehicles, a couple dark angels marines, and a dark angels lieutenant a right propper bonking with his bannerpole! - all the while making the rest of the boyz swing their choppas a bit better

...it's good to be green!

Okay, as promised, here are my final photos. I present to you an Execution Force of the Officio Assassinorum:

I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. They were a fun and interesting challenge as a painter. I probably could have done better given more time and less burnout, but I'm satisfied with them as they are, so I'm calling them done.

Lots of cool entries in here so far, so it should be fun going through them all when it comes time to vote! Good luck to everyone trying to beat the deadline!

Oops, I forgot to post my proof

Attached now. I'm entering Rodney the Rambunctious Red Reiver, about to rappel up and stab someone in the kidneys.
I believe Reivers are meant to be terror troops, which is fairly chaotic. If not, said stabbing would certainly be chaotic for the unfortunate recipitent's kidney.

Hi, all.
I really enjoyed this month, even though the sculpts on these guys are not really great - I spent a lot of time just covering the bad parts and I found it really difficult to get a smooth finish on almost all of the surfaces.

Anyhow, I have tried to give a real comic-book feel to them with very vibrant brights and stark edges. The bases are Necromunda bases, which I thought looked a little like the X-Men danger room!
I started out just wanting to paint my favourite Magneto, but I ended up enjoying Pyro the most out of the lot.

I hope people enjoy them as much as I did!

I've complete my entry, 5 Poxwalkers... Although the conversions sort of make them cultists. Either or, happy with how they turned out, even if I did lose motivation towards the end. Turns out I love painting rust on every model or at least including a little bit whenever I can. The highlights are subtle, some not coming out in the photos but I'm still happy with the final product. From veins on the skin to the glorious rust covered weapons, this was fun. Looking forward to the 3 colours next month.

First pic is group shot final entry, with 4 more photos attached in the spoiler. WARNING - BIG PICTURES!!
