So I'm jumping back into the game with Eldar after a long break and I'm a bit lost on where to start. I'm used to playing MEQ armies so it's quite a transition. There aren't any Eldar players in the area to ask what is works this edition and what doesnt. Any help would be great!

Dark Reapers, in Wave Serpents, with Autarch Dark Reaper Launchers as the HQ tax.
Sorted.

Wait for the incoming FAQs before making any choices, there are good chances that Eldars will be heavily impacted.

Realistically anything will work - especially if you put thought into it. Wraithknights may be a little weak and reapers/shining spears too strong, but nothing insane. The real rub is how some of the rules interact, which, as stated above may get faqd.

I still get chuckles at how much mileage I get out of 20 Guardians in the Webway with 2 Shuriken Cannons.
Dire Avengers are a bit more of a reasonable choice against the Guardian blob for some fire, and Rangers are good for shielding your army from deep striking.
I think a few troop choices and a Farseer + Spiritseer/Warlock is where you want to start. The troops are all individually worthwhile, so it is more to your taste.
Fire Prisms are probably going to take a lot of the workload if the Shinning Spear/Dark Reaper hits are too hard, they're also pretty solid right now. Will likely want 2 for using Linked Fire stratagem.

Thanks for the info. I may hold off on building units til the faq comes out. What about Craftworld traits and running ynarri?

Alaitoc is the best trait, no contest. None of the others even come close. Ynnari is usually run as a side detachment to an Alaitoc list with a unit of dark reapers and shining spears in it to get the most value for the lease cost possible out of SfD, though again this is something that might get hit by the Spring FAQ.

While this might be true don't shoehorn yourself into a mental block and miss out on some other setup that is 80 to 90% as efficient.

Depends on the players you are going to play
super competitive then you are looking at Waves and dark reapers
anything else do what you like.

I generally tend to gravitate to infantry based lists since I dislike painting vehicles, though I'm trying to break that habit and use a more vehicle based list to match the Yme-Loc scheme I use and seeing how everything I read praises wave serpents and fire prism tanks. I played a few games with Alpha Legion so I'm used to their trait and foreward operatives stratagem but a different trait may work better for a more mechanized list.

Mostly true, though for Wraith heavy lists Iyanden might still be better. The actual trait is meh, but the Stratagem is pretty damn powerful.

Do you want to win? Take Dark Reapers before they get nerfed. Do you want to lose friends? See above. Don't use Banshees or Warp Spiders, they are worse than useless. Guide and Doom are your best friends IMHO.

Shining spears are also pretty good. Hemlocks with conceal aren't bad either. Ynnari are still strong to add in.
