Hello fellow Commanders. I am literally a handful of models away from finishing my 8k points of Krieg and am already looking at starting my next project which will be my Xenos faction. After much debate I feel I have narrowed it down to 2 choices, Orks or Necrons. Both of these options have their Pros and Cons

Orks:
-Pro: Fun army with lots of conversion options
-Con: Another horde army, making it expensive
-Pro: Never attempted making an army of them before.

Necrons:
-Pro: Elite Army potential meaning I save $$
-Con: Not as into their fluff as other factions
-Pro: Never attempted making an army of them before.

I am looking forward to hearing feedback from anyone and everyone that has had experience with both of these factions be it from modeling to tactica. Thanks for the replies!

Run elite Orks and hope the book supports it. Battlewagons Walkers Meganobz etc.

If I did Orks it would be a Warkopta themed list

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

I voted orks.
Frankly if you don't like the fluff then you're not as attached to the army.

More that I'm a fan of other factions fluff more not thatch dislike the Necron fluff but I see what you mean.

Voted Orks, with the addendum of "wait for the codex" so you don't fall into any traps.

To at least jump start your collection, if it is still available out there, I think the Battle of Vedros box set nets you a decent number of monopose Ork models. Nowhere near a full army, but for 40-50 bucks you get a Warboss, a unit of Boyz, some Nobs, and a Deffkopta, as well as some Space Marine units if you have a need for them. Still, if nothing else, it will show you whether you enjoy painting green or not.

your mind

Get orks on ebay by the millions.
Get old fantasy orcs, and sprues of ork boyz weapon arms.
Don't collect green tide -
collect blood axes - kommandos and stormboyz,
lots of looted wagons (ebay! orkify old poorly painted imperial veicles!!!), and wait for the new starter box with plastic sisters and NEW warbuggies! (dreaming, here... but you never know!)

8K of DKOK? I think you got the chops to handle an Ork horde. Plus you could use up any leftover bits you already have to scratch build and kitbash your new army. The real question is do you like to paint green and red?

Necrons or wait for the Ork codex + rumoured model releases. Right now warkoptas are hilariously bad.

Go for an elite army after Krieging out brother. Give yourself a different way to play the game.

We know Necrons got a good codex, whether or not Orks do is still a mystery. If you're deciding right now, go for Necrons. Now's a great time to start collecting the army with Forgebane providing a great deal on some of the best units in the book.

It really depends on if you want to be competitive or just have fun. If the former, I'd go with necrons. I personally don't have any high expectations for the codex. If the latter, I'd go orks. I love orks for many reasons, and after all my time playing they're still my primary army.

Orks of course, but avoid the green tide and the horde style in general, unless you really love that way of playing, it's too boring.

By the time you collected and assembled a green tide, the codex is out and it may have been nerfed already.
