They are a tac squad with two flamers in fast attack and you can buy them jet packs.

Ultramarine 6000 : Imperial Knights 1700 : Grey Knights 1000 : Ad mech 500 :Nids 4000 : Necrons 500 : Death watch 500

Nope, +10pts for +1 atk per base.

Yeah you pretty much never would want to use assault Marines. Maybe as BA since they get some extra weapon options... But even then there are better choices.

I kina want a vanguard squad of just all jetpack claws! Looks cool and might shred up the odd T3 infantry.

As someone that plays VV heavy Raven Guard, Dual Lightning Claw vets can be OK if you have a ton of LOS blocking terrain or they get thier deepstrike charge off, but they tend to just get shredded by any sort of shooting. I rarely get my points back. They are fun with Shrike because you can 'turn-off' overwatch, and get reroll charge reroll hits and reroll to wound. Make sure to pay for melta bombs - claws do what they do well, but against anything T5+ they start to get a lot weaker.

I would also suggest mixing in a few Storm Shields so you can at least have an invuln if you need it.

They need to make assault marines troops IMO. Even then I am not sure I would use them over scouts, but at least I would have a reason to possibly include them.

Or you really *really* need 10 pts but aren't otherwise optimizing.

And +1LD, which makes them basically immune to Battleshock. Assuming all but 1 die of course but still. They run better in a larger group.

What you really use assualt marines for, is adding a basic mortal wound/0AP weapons chump to take the first death, with chainsword bolt pistol.

But Vanguard aren't much more expensive to do that, and you can have a cheap one or two with just Chainswords.

I ment you split your old assualtmarine squad models with the basic weapons and tack one or two of them into the special weapon carrying vanguard vets, to sponge up the MW or overwatch before your special weapon carrying vanguard vets die.
