Ok, I gotta come out and say it.

While I'm not a fan of Guilliman, and the poster boys that are Space .Marines, the constant way players change his name to have feminine tones as an insult makes the 40k crowd feel VERY Hostile towards girls. As a woman gamer, incoming back after not playing since 5th, the sexist language forum users, and players in general, regardless of location, use, is making me want to abandon the hobby all together.

Stop being sexist jerks, there's no call for it.

You know, as someone who should logically be offended by "Robot/Rowboat Girlyman", I'm...not.

I am generally offended by "Bolter Bitches" though.

Also how it seems that if there's ever a fallen Sister or female Chaos model she's devoted to Slaneesh, etc. Or at least in player's conversions and minds.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

I think most gamers don't mean it as an insult. Many people don't like Guilliman or envy his powerful rules. And his name sounds a bit like girlyman. They say it and they also say Bobby G. or papa smurf or stuff like that. Most people probably don't think much about when they say it.

I totally refer to Guilliman as either Rawbutt Girlyman or Robot Gorillaman from time to time. Really though, in my opinion this is much less of a intended insult towards women and more of mocking an overly complicated name for a character.

Eh. I'm sorry you feel offended, I guess. I've never called him "Girlyman" and think it's sorta stupid, but also clearly intended as such (a joke) and not an insult toward girls. I hope you'll be able to move on from this. There are far more egregious insults toward women to be found in everyday life.

First of all, stop trying to police other peoples' language because you can't control your emotions. It's unhealthy and it will always backfire.

If you have to speak "As a [insert demographic]" and not as an individual, I don't think you have much of a point.

And lastly, with an attitude like that, I can honestly say that your departure would make the gaming community a bit more comfortable, at least until you can re-calibrate and come back.

Adios.

I like him being called Rowboat. Maybe Girlyman could be swapped with Goolyman, since he's kind of all the Primaris Marines' daddy?

Every once in a while someone from a certain facebook group logs into Dakka or some of the other groups and within a day or so takes stuff down this route. So it's either troll bait or someone fishing for persecution fuel.

Bit it does fit into the adolescent trend to make feminine the opposite and negative version of masculine. Referring to Guilliman as Girlyman is meant to deride the character and to some degree the player using him. The fact there is also collateral damage is never considered. It's a symptom of a greater problem. A passive aggressive reminder that someone is inferior to you due to their gender.
