Next project is going to be picking up my Scions army, which was first begun on their release date, and quickly dropped thanks to the price point. Four years and three start collecting boxes later, it's time to resume. I converted a commissar so that he will be more in keeping with the rest of the army;

Just a cheeky head and sword swap, and scion pauldrons added. Had to keep the hat, so got it on as best I could. I'll be painting them in the Kappic Dragon box art scheme. Hope you like him

Everything works except for the peaked hat.. it looks absurd on the helmet like that.

With the hat I think it's mostly that the helmet and the brim both have winged devices. If you took off the one on the helmet you could just add a new hat band in instead to.make it more like.a.hat over a respirator rather than it getting a bit Starmunchkin.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I was thinking the same thing, but I really like (and may steal!) the overall concept.

For me the problem is that it looks very pasted on, there's no blend to the curves, and it just seems incongruent with the rest of the aesthetic. The concept is great, it looks excellent in the rest of the project, though.

Yeah, I would drop the hat-topper. If you stick with black/gold/red scheme for the helmet, he will still stand apart from the other dudes without looking "silly".

Thanks for all the comments. I've shaved an aquila off, as I hadn't noticed the double up, and it was too much. I'm going to stick with the hat, as tbh I like it, and daft headgear is synonymous with the GW aesthetic. I may well convert one of the other spare commissars in the same way, but without the hat as an alternative.
