No madam, 40,000 is the year that this game is set in. Not how much it costs. Though you may have a point. - GW Fulchester

Chess Clocks will be mandatory for stream tables and for players in the hunt to win the event or for players that want to use them.
Just to confirm that I read that correctly, chess clocks will be mandatory for players that want to use them? So if I want to use one, and my opponent with 250 Ork models does NOT, is it mandatory to use one?
My son and I are going. I didn't realize the organizers would make so much effort to open additional spots. Great job to the team for making so many additional opportunities.
Early on when we signed up the 40k stuff was closed already, so my son signed up for WFB / AoS and I signed up for a weekend of paint slinging clinics. I'm really excited for the LVO weekend.

imma break that sentence down for you;
Chess Clocks will be mandaory for...
... stream tables
... and for players in the hunt to win the event
... or for players that want to use them
So, if your Opponent would bring a chessclock you would be mandated to use it with him, I guess
I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to - I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! And feel the wind of a supernova flowing over me! And I can know much more! I can experience so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body!

That was how I read it as well. Still seeking confirmation from a TO/Judge though.
what's the consensus for Army colours at this event? For example, I get that this is competitive so taking my "fluffy" Iyanden force is not as good as going Alaitoc. So, if I have a battalion that is Alaitoc, but a small portion that is Ulthwe, how important is it that the Ulthwe contingent is painted considerably different to the Alaitoc portion?

It depends on unit composition. My drukhari are all painted the same theme, but since the wyches and succubi are the only Cursed Blade cult units, and all the rest are Black Heart, the vehicles, kabbies, archons and scourges (which are neither), I've no need to designate any paint difference. For my army, it's just a difference of Girls and Boys.
'Nid players have Kronos and Leviathan detachments in their armies, and the split is usually written on their list where the detachments are listed, but one should still have some different splash of paint when the Flyrants are from different fleets.
Can you tell us (the thread) what your split in units is? If that's too much, you could put a good sized dot or square of paint on the base (easily painted over after LVO) to show who is Ulthwe and not Iyanden.
Or is it *just* your Wraithguard units & Spiritseer that are Ulthwe? It ought to be okay to simply have it stated as such on your list (which is a mandatory item on army lists anyway).Then players are required to upload on the BestCoastPairings app by a January date (I won't stated because I'm not sure just when).
Anyway, that'd be okay with me.
If you're a Top Table player, with serious intentions on winning (misters Nanavati, Nayden, Grant, Perkins, Brandt, etc.), then you'd prolly need to have the something better than that.

well, now it's going to be Iyanden and Alaitoc, which is a little tougher to discern since they are both kinda blue and yellow. Of course the fluff bunny in me wants to keep my Hemlock's Iyanden (wraith construct) but why take that over Alaitoc at an event like this?
Currently, my Prisms, Nightspinner, Hemlocks, Shadow weavers and farseer are Alaitoc, foot troops, plus wraithguard in serpent Iyanden. And no, I am not any of those people listed, lol, this will be my first ever tournament...I'm going for fun.

Clownie elves can't be Alaitoc, . So, is that a typo?

I just listed those folks as the LVO past winners and overall GT thumpers. As for fun, you're likely to see me on the way to or from the bar, from the kiddie pool, the lower-performing end of tables (bigger numbers). Say hi to the skinny guy with the Beer Hammer t-shirt.

yeah, I'll be joining you at the bar for sure.
Shadow Weavers are actually Craftworld (I know, practically every other thing "weaver" is a 'quin), they're the Support Weapon Platform that fires indirect monafilament wires. Heavy Support slot.

Found it under "Support Weapons".
The bar in the tournament consists of a line of nerds, and two 'tenders dispensing bottles and mixed drinks. You haul your beer back to the venue and continue your game. But, yep, look me up.

As for colors, it is fine to have "Ultramanders" or whatever so long as you are consistent. You can't have some blue marines be one thing and other blue marines another. All blue marines must be the same thing or be distinguished in some way such as painting the rim of the base a different color or similar easily identifiable marking.
When in doubt, send in pics.
@Whembly
Nice, see you there!
The Friendly pack is on the ticket itself (as are all the player packs) and of course, you can always try your luck at the door at the event and see if there were drops, in which case you can purchase a ticket and jump in!

Great!
I'll probably bring my Ork stompa list (lower model count for travel) and see what drops. If not, I definitely love to spectate or go on beer runs!
Are we going to be able to do "all at once" deployment at the LVO rather than IGYG? It's so much faster especially when people have trouble finishing the games.
(To mainly Reece)Also, can we possibly have alternative means of posting pairings to get us to tables faster? I'm just envisioning BCP pairings crashing with large volume. I'm sure you already have all that figured out. Just occurred to me. Whoo wee. Looking forward to my 6th little rubber wrist band. What color this year?!?!?!?!
Good luck! We will know by the 10th how many tickets extra we have.
@Doktor_G
That is a consideration for the 2019 season, we're not changing the missions right before the event. Everyone's been playing this way all season so we'll stick it out to the bitter end!
But, it seems a lot of folks are interested in CA deployment options so we will certainly take a look at them.
The BCP guys assure us that the app is stress tested and ready to rock this year, so we're counting on it running smoothly.
Quick Q on the enclosed ruins. Eldar Shadow Weavers can start the game deployed in one correct, but would be unable to leave the building through door/window since they're not infantry. Is that right?
We're still processing refunds and transfers so it will likely be Thursday of next week that we get it ready for list submission, actually, but we'll see. Next week for sure and yes, the deadline is the 25th.
