Nah, the people who were "attacked" are crisis actors and this is a big false flag operation to drum up support for the anti-antifa bill.

this is sarcasm and satire intended to highlight how idiotic such claims are, no matter what events they are used to try and deflect from

This article on Politico about Stephen Miller's family I thought did a great job of highlighting the hypocrisy of those who seek to end immigration, such as taking in refugees, whilst also having directly benefited from it. They will pull up the drawbridge which they themselves or their families used in order to move to the United States and escape persecution.

Alternatively, the negative attention that the media has brought onto being a racist arsehole has made coming out openly as a racist arsehole in public a not very smart thing to do. Hence the massively reduced number of racist arseholes from last year.

Which is good. People should not feel like they can be a racist arsehole in public without consequence. And driving a car into the people protesting your racism and murdering one of them isn't a great way to win support or favorable media coverage.

Less than 20 Alt-Right people showed up - the story is a non-starter for the media. In seriousness, this. Lobbing eggs at people isn't a nice thing to do and people should not do it, but lumping it in with firing fireworks at people (very dangerous) seems like an attempt to inflate the numbers of violent antifa members at the rallies.

On moon miranda.

I would posit that a (relative) handful of disorganized donkey-caves yelling at a camera in multiple very large crowds and a few eggs and bottles being thrown is a far cry from the organized torch bearing crowd showing up ready to form shield walls in riot armor at the rally last year, whereupon one of them drove a car into a crowd and murdered a woman.

I suspect that the results of last years event informed the behavior and attendance at this year's, and I suspect there likely will be no such event next year. (Fingers crossed)

That said, coverage of these things was on just about every major network, it hasn't gone unnoticed, CNN talked about assaults in officers and the infamously left wing Vox obviously hasnt let it slide unnoticed. Mostly since there was no huge shitstorm like last year (thankfully) and the UniteTheRight rally fizzled out, everyone's attention went elsewhere.

I did read the article. Now if you could direct me to the line where it says that thousands were engaged in violent behaviour? Because I can see where in the article it says that:
Thousands of people held multiple rallies across the city to celebrate diversity and push back against the hateful views the white nationalists espouse.

But a few left-wing “antifa” (short for “anti-fascist”) counterprotesters did engage in violence, throwing eggs and water bottles and shooting fireworks at police officers and some journalists who were covering the demonstrations.

"Thousands" were at the rallies and "a few" engaged in violence. So was your point that thousands of antifa showed their true colours just saying that thousands showed up to celebrate diversity or was it saying that thousands engaged in violence? The first interpretation is supported by the article, the second is not.

I could just say that the US police corps regularly treats non-white people worse and often get away with it because the officers close ranks, but ultimately the problem is not one of bad apples spoiling the bunch but that any police corps in a country that has essentially criminalised being non-white (particularly black) will unavoidably be in the service of white supremacy. When you're the enforcement arm of white supremacy, IE the organisation seen broadly as keeping The Bad Sorts (Racialised) from harming your family, that will attract more conscious white supremacists than other professions. Then you've started a bit of a vicious feedback loop.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on the firing of longtime FBI agent Peter Strzok (all times local):

12:30 p.m.

President Donald Trump is questioning whether special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election interference and Trump’s presidential campaign will be dropped now that the FBI has fired one of Mueller’s former investigators.

Former agent Peter Strzok’s lawyer said Monday that he had been fired from the agency over texts from that were critical of Trump. Mueller removed Strzok from his team immediately last year once the texts were discovered.

Trump has repeatedly been critical of Mueller and Strzok on Twitter in attempts to discredit the investigation. There is no indication that the probe will be dropped.

The president tweeted that “the list of bad players in the FBI & DOJ gets longer & longer,” adding that the investigation is a “total hoax.”

__

11:42 a.m.

The FBI has fired a longtime agent who once worked on special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation after he sent text messages criticizing President Donald Trump to a colleague.

Former agent Peter Strzok (struhk) was removed from Mueller’s team a year ago after the text messages were discovered. The FBI had been reviewing his employment. Strzok’s lawyer said he was fired late Friday by FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich.

The lawyer, Aitan Goelman, criticized the firing in a statement Monday, saying he was fired because of political pressure and “to punish Special Agent Strzok for political speech protected by the First Amendment.” He said the firing “should be deeply troubling to all Americans.”

Trump has repeatedly criticized Strzok on Twitter. The FBI did not have immediate comment.

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/jul/31/senator-claims-judge-kavanaugh-misled-lawmakers-un/

Whoops!

The second-ranking Democrat in the Senate said Tuesday that JudgeBrett Kavanaugh misled senators during his 2006 confirmation hearing, and vowed to make the judge explain himself before winning a seat on the Supreme Court.

Sen. Richard Durbin said JudgeKavanaugh in that earlier hearing denied involvement in crafting the Bush White House’s policy on detainees and enemy combatants caught during the war on terror.

But Mr. Durbin said he now believes JudgeKavanaugh, who had been in the White House counsel’s office and later served as staff secretary to President George W. Bush, was involved in those decisions.

“He said, ‘I was not involved and am not involved in questions regarding the rules regarding detention of combatants,’” Mr. Durbin recalled Tuesday. “And then within a matter of months, we found out there was more to the story.”

Mr. Durbin claimed JudgeKavanaugh, who had clerked for Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, was involved in a heated discussion in the White House over legal rights for enemy combatants. According to media reports at the time, JudgeKavanaugh discussed what he thought Justice Kennedy might do about the issue if it came before the Supreme Court.

Mr. Durbin said he wrote JudgeKavanaugh a letter 12 years ago asking about the discrepancy between his testimony and the media reports, but never received an answer.

“Under oath he stated one thing and now we have limited but some documentary evidence to the contrary — that’s worth a question, isn’t it?” Mr. Durbin said.

Republicans said Mr. Durbin is rehashing a non-controversy that was already settled 12 years ago.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said JudgeKavanaugh, while in the White House counsel’s office, advised colleagues he didn’t think Justice Kennedy would side with the Bush administration’s contention that enemy combatants could be denied lawyers.

Mr. Grassley said he saw no discrepancy between that and JudgeKavanaugh’s testimony, and added that the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section looked at the allegations in 2006 and couldn’t justify opening an investigation based on the evidence.

“Multiple sources have confirmed that JudgeKavanaugh did not participate in crafting the Bush Administration’s detention and interrogation policies and was not even authorized to know about the tightly compartmentalized detainee treatment policies,” Mr. Grassley said in his letter.

The fight comes as Democrats accuse Republicans of trying to hide JudgeKavanaugh’s record from the public.

Democrats have requested every document from his time in the White House, which could mean millions of pages would have to be produced. Republicans say the request is a tactic to delay the judge’s confirmation.

They’ve asked for the George W. Bush presidential library to release records from JudgeKavanaugh’s time in the White House counsel’s office from 2001 to 2003 but did not demand documents from his time as Mr. Bush’s staff secretary from 2003 to 2006.
