Yep, I already said that, and I’m not talking about electing him, I’m talking about the dangers of over use or misuse of the word, the reason why I brought it up is because I am wondering if this is a similar case to the BNP issue we had over here, what has caused this literal Nazi to be elected and how can we ensure such a person doesn’t get elected again, if you take a look at UKIP over here then you will understand my very real worry of such people gaining power.

My mistake i mis remembered, it was local elections, point remains however that as soon as they gained media coverage and people saw them for what they were, they lost support, they also gained two seats in the European Parliament.

If you look what happened after the no platform for facists was removed the party collapsed internally and externally, people saw them for what they were, actual nazis.

I’m not falling for anything, if anything I’m calling for people to stop and think about the language they use for discourse with the opposing side, think carefully before using such loaded terms, actually listen to opposing viewpoints and find out what motivates them so they can be better tackled because just screaming at each other helps nobody, we can all look at you tube, live leaks and a myriad of political sites and see this is true.

The original article posted that started this debate shows these people exist and somehow he was voted in, why? Where are the failings ? How can we ensure it does not happen again?

These days people “seem” more polarised than ever and cooler heads should prevail if real issues are to be tackled.

The best people. I can't figure out why she apologized, though. What's special about this lazy, effortless lie that surely would have been digested through the centipede otherwise? Why was this somehow problematic as opposed to the usual offerings of patent untruths?

Not by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, by European standards, the Democrats would be right-wing, the Republicans far right.

And something I've wanted to say for a while that gets completely overrun by the "us vs them" narrative: It's entirely possible for someone to hold left-leaning views on some items, and right-leaning on others (ie, left on climate change, right on immigration, for instance). But of course, if all you're interested in is pushing your ideology, that is not a very convenient position and so must be glossed over before people begin to think there can be such silly things as rational dialogue and, I dunno, a little give and take.

I find the thread to be helpful to get concrete information and a better understanding of certain demographics. While there are some who do not argue in good faith, some actually provide a good counter perspective.

Also, I truly believe that even if there was a Trump "N-word" tape and it was released, it would change nothing. We just need to accept that while the number of people who identify themselves as republicans shrinks, he will always have support and the "true conservatives" will never revolt to try to reclaim their party. Why should they if the get what they want?
