The old ones coming back would be cool, but they'd have to be too OP considering the lore. I'd like to see a silicone based species or a species created in sulphuric acid or maybe even bring back the cabal as an elite type army all different species where you play them kind of like deathwatch.

Having just read Talon of Horus....

Were the Old Ones to come back, they would find the Webway they built to be a tangled, disheveled mess in need of repair. As much of their power drew from their ability to get anywhere they needed in the Universe at any time, it stands they would be significantly diminished from their former stature.

I would actually hate to see a new race introduced to the game. It feels like GW has their hands full trying to manage the ones they already have. We're watching units / armies being removed from the game entirely with 8th edition.

But if it had to happen, Old Ones would be a good place to start.

If that’s custodes, sisters or just a already existing army then it’s a big cop out, while what I think is a new army may be different to what they meant, it’s still a cop out if true.

yeah except "they" was the "totally unsubstantiated rumor mongers" in this case

Agreed.

Happy to be proven wrong, but I'm sure no one ever said there would be a faction swap.

Custodes most likely are the new army. They've never been an army in 40k before, and have proven extremely popular, so I really don't see it as a cop out.

Yeah but they created the webway, they can make more connections and paths, where daemons haven't infested them or where Slaanesh's birth destroyed them, the Eldar still get by using the remains.

Nah I'm just saying they always just cop out, like when they said that they were releasing plastic sisters and then they released 3 models.

A rumor which once again wasn't actually GW, but rather was some random rumor monger, who proab ly saw one of the sisters Germania and immediatly rushed to the internet screaming "PLASTIC SISTERS ARE COMING"

There are several novels out there about beast orks.

If there's no such thing in the ork codex when it's finally released , a grot army . Complete with tanks, walkers, transports, koptas, snipers, specialists, ...

8000 points fully painted
hive fleet belphegor 3500 points
1k sons killteam

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one

I think Adpetus Custodes was the new army. There's also Sisters of Battle coming in 2019 which may get renamed/reorganized as well.

I play:
40K: Daemons, Tau
AoS: Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch
Warmachine: Convergence of Cyriss
Infinity: Haqqislam, Tohaa
Malifaux: Bayou
Star Wars Legion: Republic & Separatists
MESBG: Far Harad, Misty Mountains

I also think Sisters will have army. Maybe at the end not and it only is new Sisters Units in plastic, but knowing how GW likes Codex....there are good options to see the Sisters as new army.

Games Workshop already confirmed they were updating Sisters. They mentioned they’re getting a Codex in 2019, and plastic kits.

Black Bases and Grey Plastic Forever:My quaint little hobby blog.

40k- The Kumunga Swarm (more)
Count Mortimer’s Private Security Force/Excavation Team (building)
Kabal of the Grieving Widow (less)

Plus other games- miniature and cardboard both.

Funny how in all these discussions about possible new armies that used to have rules in the game, nobody discusses Arbites.

Imperial soup faction? Check.

Used to have rules in a prior edition? Check.

At least one box coming for Necromunda purposes? Check.

Perfect army for a one infantry kit/one vehicle kit/one elite infantry (biker) kit/one clampack and throw it in a box set release.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
