@Storm: Adagio for Strings is obviously a natural choice for this thread, but if you've ever played Homeworld ... it adds a little extra texture ...

War Drone - what's lost on a lot of people today is that that flyby was one of the first proper big 3D views we ever got in an RTS game. Homeworld was a vast pioneer for its day!

That intro really blew people away who'd prior been playing on games like Starcraft.

Honestly I've yet to play another RTS that really told its story as well as Homeworld. Those early RTS games were really charming and I think the fact that games like Homeworld and Starcraft came with story books in the manual played a big part. Even their sequels of both games failed to really live up to their originals (though I also lay blame squarely on the fact that, in both cases, the writers of the second game changed big core elements from the first in the story)

IMO, this isn't actually the best version. There are a coupla tracks on the GitS OST that are almost identical, but slightly different. But this was the best version of Making of Cyborg I could find at short notice (a South Korean choir IIRC?).

There is a live version of "Making of Cyborg" that I really love:

As for the Payday 2 OST, there are many great tracks on there, though this most recent one has become my all-time favourite. Sadly not part of their Bandcamp bundle.

Hans Zimmer knocked it out of the park in general with the Lion King score.

I think there's plenty of great Disney music in post-2000s films, the opening song in Frozen (Vuelie) is good (although based on on more traditional music), and it's hard to say Let It Go isn't an incredibly enjoyable song, as is quite a bit of music in Moana. Plus, if we're including Pixar, Michael Giacchino's score for The Incredibles is solid gold.

Don't forget about Coco. I just love the music from that Pixar movie.

And then there's this monster that leaves you a sobbing wreck remembering all the toys you've left behind as you grew up, thinking that you no longer needed them:

And then it hits you that it can also be interpreted as a metaphor for children leaving behind their parents as they grow up. It's a one-two punch into your emotional feels.

Most of the stuff Radiohead did from Ok Computer onwards i'd consider great. Particularly Kid A and In Rainbows, they did a couple albums in between that were hit/miss in terms of overall quality but I don't think they were ever bad once they got out of that early 90s cheese phase.

Pix3lboy, certainly agree on Gambino and Queen - but then, I like most things those artists create. Say what you like about We Will Rock You as a musical, but it's damn fun to perform it.

Thargrim, I'd agree with Radiohead. Personally very fond of No Surprises myself.
