As I am unable to commit to a single chapter and have too much work with my orks I think I'm going deathwatch with a bunch of primaris lying around. So I can make detailed conversion for each member chapter appartenance

The Genestealer Cult was my first love; it blew my mind when they released the army, and I've seen previews of the new Aberrant character who's coming out in the fall, likely with the dex.
It's awesome that GSC is one of the teams in the box, but for my money, the Overkill box, which might not be available for much longer, is a much better buy. So I'm going to try like hell to pick up the OK box and the Kill Team book. For KT, that gives me a few GSC builds + Kill Team Cassius. For 40k, I combine my models from Spacehulk- both the marines and the stealers- with the OK models, and I'm looking at great GSC army and a pair of Space Marine patrol detachments to ally with my sisters.
Once the release rules for Daemons, I'll have an excuse to paint up a unit of my Daemonettes- that will kickstart my Slaanesh army. I actually have a Daemon Prince, an old Keeper, the Masque, a chariot, two units of ten plastic daemonettes and two units of ten of the sexy metal daemonettes just waiting to be painted.
Sigh... Gotta up my painting game!

Between the uninspired rules, lack of units, wargear and options, the nickel-and-diming with tactics cards exclusive to boxed sets, and the incessant bundling that may give you a better (but still lacking) value but also push you to make larger purchases, this is yet another GW release I will be skipping. Overall extremely disappointed with Kill Team. It could have been so much more than a gateway 40k Lite.

I like the new scenery and may well have pre-ordered the box set almost for the scenery alone and I may as well have the other stuff in the box too. Alas, being in the process of buying a house is making me much more discerning with my hobby spending at the moment so it can wait.
I doubt I would be buying any of the faction starter sets unless they happened to include a unit I was planning to buy anyway alongside some terrain that I also wanted to get my hands on.

Currently getting the starter and killzone, will likely buy all lillzones. Thinking of a second starter and depending how important the exclusive rules are i may buy some PR all of the mini starters (super dumb that the Orks get repeat terrain from the second killzone but I guess the wolves do too it just seems less generic compared to a crane set.... How many of those do you need. The containers make a lot more sense for repeats of. I imagine whoever gets the deathworld terrain ill like buy some of

Can anyone confirm if there are rules/abilities in the faction starter sets that aren't in the rulebook?
I'm a little peeved if I have to spend £37.50 for 8 Genestealers on top of £25 for the book to start playing this game :/

I only ordered the Rule book with Cards. (cards come with blank character cards you can reuse). Helped put the new terrain together for a demo game and its amazing. It hooks up sooo much better then the old ruins and can easily make huge towers if that's a thing you want. Best part is there are wall pieces that can completely hide marine sized models. I'm probably going to pick up a few of the larger kits for the awesome statues.
Gameplay is basically a revamped/updated Shadow Wars. If you had a Shadow Wars team you should have no problem moving it into Kill Team. Teams consist of 3-20 models and max out at 100 points. There are Command Points but we didn't use any for our demo/learning game. Specialists gain access to unique Stratagems and get new ones as they level up.
Turns go like this:
-Roll off to see who gets first activations. (note that Kill Team supports up to 4 players in a game)
-Movement: Players move all models on their team starting with the player who won the roll off. Players can move up to their max movement, Ready (gives priority in shooting), Charge (if I remember correctly failed charges still move the model), Fall-back. Keep in mind by moving up you may put your model in charge range of your opponent and that ALL player movement happens before any shooting.
-Psychic phase (we had no psykers in our game and skipped this phase so I can't give much info here other then it looks like it works like it works the same as it does in a normal 40k game
-Shooting: Starting with the Player who won Priority, players alternate shooting with models starting with any Ready models followed by unreadied models. There are modifiers for hitting like Long range (over half the distance away), if the model is obscured (even a foot behind a piece of terrain counts as obscured fyi), any flesh wounds, ect.
-Fight: Combat works like normal 40k with player alternating activations like AoS.
-Morale: Teams that lose models must make break tests; 2d6 vs highest Ld. If you go over your Ld the team breaks. If a team loses over half its models they are automatically broken. Teams must then take Nerve tests for each model with a Flesh Wound which is 1d6 + out of action models vs that models LD. If the test is failed that model cannot do any actions until the next Morale Phase.
My take on the game, if you liked Shadow Wars you will like Kill Team. Alternations in the phases are awesome, I kind of wish GW had made this is the default way to play in bigger games. New terrain is awesome. My game was a 5 man unit of tacticals with 1 Sgt (bolt pistol/chainsword) and 1 Plasma gun vs Primaris Deathwatch with Sgt (power sword), 2 Intersesors, 2 Reivers. Didnt point it out but I should have been at a lower points team. Primaris are difficult to put down at 2 wounds each and the Deathwatch SIA makes them rather versital with boltguns at any range. I still managed to wipe him out and I only lost my Sgt. Dice gods were on my side that game

According to the descriptions on the GW store pages the Tactics cards (i.e. Stratagems) are only avaliable in the starter boxes. The core rulebook has a couple for each faction, but the rest of your faction specific cards are only in the various sets. AdMech and GSC are currently only available in the big starter box. The Orks and SM have their cards in the starter boxes that come with a squad and terrain together.

Getting the starter box and the sector mechanicus kill zone as they just are great value overall and I can use everything. Had a skim of the rules and personally I like them and excited about the possibilities of using some of the various sets, especially my long neglected orks.
I also went ahead and got the space wolf themed expansion. Though I did not need the terrain, I didn't have a set of the multipart reivers and wanted the cards specific to the set. I passed on the ork one though as I have all the models (30+ in fact of the burnas and lootas) and terrain in the box and just could not justify the $60 USD just to pick up the cards exclusive to the set.
All and all, I am pretty excited about this release and as others have said it will be an instant platform to introduce yourself and others to the hobby and new armies. Unlike previous versions of Kill Team or SWA, GW seems to have a plan for ongoing support with faction specific and kill zone expansions all but announced, i.e. The Astra Militarum , Tyranids, and Sector Munitorum along with the leaked Rogue Trader expansion All my local stores have already announced Kill Team leauges so organized play does look like it will be an issue either. All thease reasons are why I have made the early plunge. If Kill Team flames out, I will still have terrain and mini's that I can use and enjoyed building/painting nonetheless.

Splitting the starter with a buddy, am also picking up the Ork and Space Marine starters and the Sector Mechanicus Kill Zone. So pretty much going all-in for this first round of preorders!
I have played Orks for a long time so I don't need the Burna Boyz in the Ork starter, though it never hurts to have more when you're an Ork player. One of my sons plays Space Marines but has no Primaris yet, so the Space Marineis starter will go to him. I have loads of Sector Imperialis terrain already but none of the cool SW:A industrial/refinery stuff, so looking forward to the Kill Zone box for that.
Overall, I'm really stoked about what I've seen of the new Kill Team so far. I've been playing a lot of skirmish the last few years, especially the Batman Miniatures Game as well as Infinity, and have been eagerly seeking out a good 40k themed skirmish game. I actually like Kill Team 7th edition and had fun with it, as well as playing 200pt Combat Patrol games and trying the Heralds of Ruin Kill Team rules. My group got Shadow War: Armageddon but it kind of fizzled once 8th edition came out and people wanted to switch to the new system.
From what I've seen of the new Kill Team, it really does look promising. I guess I'm gonna know for sure pretty soon. Looking forward to it!

I went to my local GW to buy some paint so I could finally start some of my backlog of tau specifically for the release of kill team, I asked what the book's price was alone (I think he said £25), said ooh I'll get it next Saturday and he's instantly pushing the box set on me. I said no, I can't justify it, plus I don't want the genestealer cult or ad mech. He said oh that doesn't matter, I'm gonna have a kill team for every faction, it's just 5-10 models. I still refused, and I'm still annoyed because that's the first sale he's attempted to push on me in ages and I liked not having that, but it is a thing you could do.

I get it can be annoying, but they are literally trained to push sales in the store. If you haven't had it before then that's an anomaly!

Just getting the starter to begin with. I need terrain, and that and the book justify the cost. My mates are quite interested too, after 2 years of me trying to push 40k on them. 4 or 5 of us will be giving the game a go, with at least 2 of them choosing to buy modes themselves even though I've offered the use of some to get started. If it goes well I plan to get at least another Killzone and as I'll be trying out my Blood Angels, maybe that box with the Reivers.

You really should try playing it first. The abstract resolution system might be mostly taken from 8e, but the changes in the activation method and the addition of the ready shooting step changes the gameplay completely. I've played og Necromunda, Shadow Wars, both old editions of Kill Team, as well as a couple games of this new one, and the improvements in this one are game-changing. It's definitely not uninspired.
Some big differences are: you can't move and assault in the same turn. If you kill the opponent in the combat phase and win initiative the next turn, there's no opportunity for him to move his other models away from a subsequent charge from your model. The activation changes (especially readying) make good set up positions, vantage points and firing corridors even more important. This last one is the thing that really sets it apart from just a small game of 8e.
I'll be picking up the digital rulebook on release for sure!

Which means I'll likely end up starting a Thousand Sons army since I'm already considering it and have likely fallen for Tzeentch's plans.

Figure that selling the spare rulebook, both skitarii sprues, the cards and booklets and possibly the spare game board should net me about 50 quid- Leaves me with the rulebook, core game stuff, 2 sets of ruins, 20 neophytes (starting GSC in 40k)- for about £70
