Having been released from my first set of exams, I took the opportunity this morning to go buy some space heaters, eagerly looking forward to slapping some paint on all the preceding grey plastic.

Khorne farts in my face, however, and the light grey I use for my Renegades has i) dried up (again) and; ii) has mould growing on it. Awesome.

I did at least manage to get a (very) rough first-coat on the Basilisk before throwing the paint out, though.





Like I said, rough as a badger's arse. I think it gets the point across, though. Thoughts?

I'm really sick of mixing up new batches of grey every month, so I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy some proper, pre-mixed paints. I need a dark grey and a light grey, any ideas as to what matches the shade I already have? I'd prefer Army Painter, if possible, if not Army Painter then Vallejo, then Citadel as a last resort.

Regarding rules for the Assassins: Apparently there are new rules coming out in next months (March) WD. So, I fear a tid bit of a bad timing regarding Index Imperium 2^^

I actually like the soft stripes, i wouldn't even change anything there, well beyond some metal scratches.

I honestly would get myself, if i were you, either the standard citadell grey, or the london one, and a white, then mix with eye.

Games Workshop sells 25 shades of grey. There's a joke in there somewhere.

If the colours are somewhat accurately represented on their web-store then I think that Eshin Grey is the dark grey I need and Warpfiend Grey is the light grey.





Obviously I'll buy AP/Vallejo equivalents, rather than pay through the nose for a tiny amount of paint.

Your choice, but seriously consider a standart grey and white.

That would require mixing and a pot to keep the mix in, which is precisely what I currently have and what I'm trying to avoid, though.

I don't really care for painting, it has always been my least-favourite part of the hobby and I procrastinate like crazy when it comes to picking up a brush so I have to make the process as smooth and wrinkle-free as possible or I'll just make excuses as to why I can't paint today.

Ahh so you are a fellow builder like me then.

Except you got actually talent at painting

I honestly don't bother with pots but just make the mixture for the model i paint on a piece of plastic card that i use as palette.

Today i suffered too.

Tommorow i will not but then i really will because the next thing that is up is another squad and the daemonengineprince and I have put it in my head that i will paint magmatic lines and runes all over it.

My talent, if I have one, is figuring out how to do something passable with the least amount of effort. Almost everything in this thread relies heavily on drybrushing Ceramite White or grey.

If I could build stuff and have someone else paint them, that would be ideal. I just can't afford commission painting, currently, or for the foreseeable future.

As you may be able to tell, I have some issues with authority so I really, really hate having a boss and need to open my own firm as soon as I receive a license to practice, plus I still have ca. $3500 CAD worth of exams to pay for, so...

As for the later, i went through my conscripted time and was forced to continue, ergo lead and be a authorithy myself.

I hated my higher ups for it but since i knew how gakky it was under a bad NCO i decided that i'd run my squad with a fair but harsh hand. Did work out, had the highest ammount of NCO candidates under me and we generally had it great.

Moral of the story there is a difference between "du" / informal direct donkey-cave and " sie" donkey-cave /polite, formal form, the sooner i learnt that the better.

Also the reason why i developped a dry /extremely dark and sarcastic Humor.

Generally people can't hate you if you make them laugh.

So, of course, the best way to follow through on my vague threats to be more consistent and to push myself is to not put brush to mini in nearly two months.

Apologies. I am currently fat and depressed. I'm hopeful the Basilisk and the two totally not-NKVD Enforcers will be shown some love today, but it depends on how long this Black Dog sticks with me.

I'm posting this mostly in the hopes that it will help me pull my head out of my arse and crack on, not for sympathy. FYI.

I couldn't find a pre-mixed match to the grey I was already using so I've been forced to mix up another batch of my own, in a much greater quantity than previously.

The problem now is that I'm not 100% sure whether this is a match, either.



The four in 'the middle' (Sniper to Enforcer L-R) are painted in the new paint, do they look noticeably different to the other fifteen?

The guy at the front with the laspistol? It's the soft-cap/visor head from the Cadian Command Squad box.

Or the two guys with Chainswords? They're Enforcers. L Enforcer's head is also from the Cadian Command Squad Box, R Enforcer's head is from the Basilisk sprue.

I probably won't convert them at all, I'll leave them as humans or elves. I have no confidence in my conversion abilities, I only have the long claws left in my bitz box (which in my force would mean they were Heralds) and no plans to add any more Daemonettes for a while.

Manufaktura does some subs that are modelled as if they are tied to something above them, so I may build an A-frame/suspension rig or St. Andrew's Cross for those ones.

Nothing, but chances are that your average rifle design still holds true and in the military the individualism is generally more oriented torwards colletiv. As in uniform training regimen, so the guns are all hold on the right side in your normal day duties.

Actually what about slightly possesed mad beeing used as cannonfodder?
as for conversion, you saw the "Eyechild", you know how that happned? Without any plan at all. the trick is to hide the ugly parts. In your case you could go along the arms, amputate at shoulder high, get yourself some lasguns. (JK considering you bought IG parts YOU WILL HAVE LASGUNS) or autoguns, cut them off at the hands and make them dash like mad man by some reposing.

Alternatively, why not make them into the new terrain for Chaos? (5++ for our army is actually viable)

I don't know. You may have noticed that there's a lot of talk in this thread and not much progress. So...

So, because of the planned inclusion of female bitz from Victoria Miniatures, I'll end up with 21 pairs of Cadian legs (and heads) left over after building my Militias, to which I'm going to add another fifteen pairs of female legs (and heads) various other GW Neophyte Hybrid and Cadian bitz and these



heads from Anvil to make 29 Mutants, an Enforcer, a Psyker Coven and another 'counts-as' Vindicare.

So the Mutants will be my primary 'run at it, shouting' slightly-possessed speed-bump. I'm hopeful that one day I'll be able to put them in a Gorgon or Crassus, legally.

Good news, everyone! I finished some minis and I got a new camera. Sadly my minis suck and I haven't figured out either the camera or the lighting in my new apartment.
