WizKids Announces New Licensing Partnership with WWE®
WWE Superstars to be Featured in Upcoming Line

August 7, 2018 – Hillside, NJ – WizKids, the leader in high-quality pre-painted miniatures and established board games, today announced a new multi-year licensing partnership with WWE, with plans to bring the organization's iconic Superstars to the tabletop with successful gaming platforms HeroClix and Dice Masters as well as branded board games.

HeroClix is the #1 selling collectible miniatures game in the world where players will now be able to form their dream team of WWE Superstars to engage their opponents in tabletop combat.

"We're pleased to introduce this new genre to the WizKids portfolio," said Justin Ziran, president of WizKids. "We're especially thrilled to bring fan favorite Superstars from the WWE family to the beloved HeroClix and Dice Masters platforms."

Dice Masters is an award-winning and critically acclaimed dice game. For the first-time ever, players will be able to build a team of their favorite WWE Superstars to roll combos and knock out the opposition.

The partnership will bring the likeness of popular WWE Superstars, including John Cena®, The Rock®, Charlotte Flair®, Roman Reigns® and The Undertaker®, in addition to WWE Hall of Famers such as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin® and Trish Stratus™ to several gaming platforms, including Dice Masters, HeroClix and Boxed Strategy Games.

Product will be available in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia and Europe. The first release is slated to hit shelves in 2019.

That seems like a good fit, actually.

They gotta do 80's legends like Andre the Giant, Big Bossman and Ultimate Warrior, right? I wonder if getting the rights to those older stars' likenesses would be an issue.

Is Hogan still persona non grata with WWE?

Mattel makes the main WWE action figure line and has all of those wrestlers covered so it should not be an issue.

As for Hogan he was restored to their Hall Of Fame but it still seems a bit shaky.

The main issue is wrestlers from the 80's currently suing WWE on a concussion lawsuit, this covers people like Demolition, The Barbarian, The Warlord, One Man Gang and many others.

Thanks for the information. Sad about those wrestlers suffering. Having watched the G.L.O.W. documentary and seeing what wrestling did to the women's bodies I hope those guys are successful in their suit. That stuff in the 80's was no joke!

I remember a WizKids survey many years ago that contained one question with a list of different IPs and asking which the reader would be interested in. WWE was on that list. As someone that has designed many different home-brew wrestling games over the years I can say it's going to be very tough to get the right "feel" in a tabletop game about wrestling, though the clix system should be a decent fit.

Concerning old school wrestlers, WWE has what are called "Legends" contracts which enables merchandising of past performers. That's what allows action figures to be made of them.

There was a guy at the local gaming cons that adapted the WWF rpg into a table top version using the action figures. He added all of the then current wrestlers. He mostly ran Royal Rumble events. I remember using Bret Hart to pile drive someone into the concrete floor. I think I gave someone else a Stunner with Stone Cold Steve Austin.

We had so much fun that my brother, dad, & I tracked down 2 copies and bought a few figures. That's when we found out how much he likely improvised the maneuvers.

Oh, I'm sure we will see them. They own the WCW and ECW entire catalog of IP they bring with them.

I'm REALLY hoping that the HeroClix versions will be compatible with the Marvel, DC, and Indi clix they all ready have. It would be funny as heck if Mankind gave the Juggernaut a Mr. Socko, or Dwayne Johnson gave Batman the Rock Bottom.

They probably will be. I'm pretty sure that the Star Trek and Ninja Turtles Heroclix are completely compatible. It's probably going to be kind of goofy when a wrestler is as strong in-game as Captain America.

I haven't played any HeroClix in a VERY long time. So, you're saying Captain Kirk can phaser Donatello now? Also it will be funny to see new maps with wrestling rings, announcer tables, backstage areas, etc.

Yep, that's what I'm saying.

I hope they do a special object or something for one of those setups where there's a championship belt hanging from the ceiling and everyone's trying to use ladders to get it.

Heck, I hope they have new 3D objects like steel chairs, tables, garbage cans, etc.

Back in the day I always got so annoyed when my friend used the Lamp Post to cripple a key figure.

Quit collecting after a while, but if they have REAL men and women I might reconsider(not children like Miz, Steve Austin, Sable, John Cena, etc). MIGHT!
