I mean, for Ahsoka I agree. But then, that’s essentially a direct continuation of Rebels.

Her not showing up when Luke is trying to build a new Jedi Order would be….a bit weird. At least after we know she survived the events of Rebels and indeed the entire Galactic Civil War.

In terms of Mando trying to find a Jedi to train Grogu? It’s not like there were a plethora of candidates at that point in the setting. No. It’s not simply Luke or Ahsoka. But with Kanan dying in Rebels, and Ezra being gone, assumed by many dead? I don’t think there are any other named candidates.

Mando S2 plots all revolved around setting up characters for their own shows though. Ahsoka, Book of Boba Fett, that cancelled Cara Dune one. Likewise, when Mando And Son do meet other Mandalorians, the first is a setup for Boba Fett, and the next is Bo Katan, who already had substantial arcs in both Clone Wars and Rebels.
I like a lot of what Dave Filoni has done, doesn't mean I also don't see that there are a lot of points where it's literally just "Hey remember this thing I did in my other show".
The worst bit was when there was an entire arc in Rebels about the Mandalorians finally uniting, and then so Mando can happen, everything gets wiped away, and literally everyone dies. Sabine gets her family back only for them to literally get nuked into oblivion.

And so, whilst there’s nothing stopping a new character being created for that role? You still need to flesh them out.

So have a couple of episodes about it rather than a one-and-done to set up another show that already had a setup.

And outside of the Ahsoka series? It’s pretty much just been straight forward cameos. Which help to draw the whole narrative together as a single galaxy.

That's kind of the point people are getting at. Things can't happen without everything being tied together in every possible way. Mando goes to Tatooine, Boba Fett is there every single time in the background and then he gets an N1 fighter, Cad Bane is also there. Bad Batch is basically "Weekly Filoni Verse Gathering".

He’s also done more than….pretty much anyone, to expand the setting beyond the same handful of planets.

He really hasn't, as I said, most of what Dave Filoni has done is just reintroduce things into Disney's canon. Its not expanding its just integrating.

I want to be clear, I have enjoyed Dave Filoni's work, and he does get a lot of what makes Star Wars good.

The problem is he has now become the embodiment of Star Wars Street to the point where a project can't run if it doesn't include a Jedi or characters from other long-term projects.

I think Luke training Grogu was easily the most organic and well received cameo. The greater issue there is the Book of Boba and Season 3 retread felt like the series had lost its way. I get the impression that wasn't Filoni's call, but its the kind of tonal issue that comes up now and then throughout his work that rubs people the wrong way. It's that when he does something safe, it feels REALLY safe.

I think he also struggles to make the Empire properly scary. Hardly alone in that and most of his work is on the more fun end of the franchise, but his villains could stand to be more intimidating.

Honest question? Is the Feloni spelling deliberate? Like mine of Skellington.

Because Y’know, it then reads as an amusing one.

Really not fussed either way, genuinely curious.

Not from me. I always forget how its spelled and just copy the post above me.

I just spell it how it sounds. Is it not Feloni? *googles* Ah. Filoni. Okay XD

So there is space for rejigging and replanning if it’s deemed needed.

My hope is that with Filoni clearly having his own plan? We get a more stable slate as a result.

The Ninth Jedi is getting a series? The animation team who all but begged 'give us a series please' have gotten their wish you say?

Hadn't heard that either. Very exciting. That second episode was kind of disappointing, but only because I assumed there wouldn't be a 3rd any time soon.

Don't really like how they keep bringing in more Order 66 survivors as the main focal point as the backdrop for post-Clone Wars and pre-Galactic Civil War storytelling. Especially since it's following Maul potentially attempt to recruit another Jedi to his cause like he did with Ezra. It would be nice to just focus on the criminal underworld and him attempting to survive in the new environment of the Empire vs his Shadow Collective in the Clone Wars.

Well, the Inquisitors have been one of the more popular set of new characters. Vader's hunting down of the Jedi was, prior to Order 66 by far one of the most interesting bits of backstory in the setting so it makes sense that we'd get a lot of stories based around them.

Is that the one that turns up all Undead in Ahsoka there?

Either way, I’m hoping for Rebels out of this, over Bad Batch.

Yeah. That's Eighth Brother who was tasked with hunting down Maul. He's originally from Rebels where the crew runs into him on Malachor before finding out he's there for Maul and not them before dying a pratfall death when his helicopter saber shorts out. Eleventh Brother is also in the trailer who Ahsoka killed in the Tales of the Jedi shorts.

Sorry. Not enough member berries.

Member Order 66? Well you'd better!

Meh. It's a decent trailer, but Maul had a pretty good run and conclusion in Rebels. This is what? The 4th, or 5th time they've roused his corpse to come back again? I can't really deny it has a shockingly successful track record thus far but dear force when is this character going to get to rest in peace >.>

There’s still chunks of unknown for him though.

Post Clone Wars, we see him refound or reforge his Shadow Syndicate into crimson Dawn, then wind up sans friends, sans legs, sans everything, on Malachor.

So there’s a bunch of stories yet to be told.

Right, which, would be fine if the novelty of that hadn't already worn out its welcome by the time they've already released Rebels, Tales of the Jedi, Kenobi, alongside games like Jedi: Fallen Order and a host of other things that cover this in pretty extensive detail. I know they're not all the same, but the fundamental idea has been covered a lot already. Not to mention it going down the usual issue of "Star Wars Street" of learning stuff again about established characters that isn't exactly that interesting to know. What, are we going to have a Dex's Diner series next where we find out what Kenobi's favourite breakfast dish is and what gives him diarrhea?

Pretty much my same thoughts, Maul's had a good run, sometimes less is more and it's the same feeling of what GW was doing with their HH series of demystifying things too much of an age that's supposed to be a bygone era just ending up being 40k with another coat of paint and more primarchs. You don't need to keep revisiting the same stuff over and over because you don't have confidence in making new things that doesn't rely on constant nostalgia throwbacks.
