I'm sure it'll be two things nobody would expect, a bunch of updates and support for current specialist games, a campaign reveal for 40k, and the next faction for Age of Sigmar, which will be either Goblins or Darkoath, whichever they haven't revealed by then.

I would expect to see more details on GSC codex if it isn't already out by then, a better look at Blackstone fortress and CA2018.
I'm hoping for better info on the Talons of the emperor index thing from FW and whatever they're cooking up for knights too.

We have also removed the exemption that Genestealer Cults had in the previous beta version of this rule – rest assured this has been taken into account for Codex: Genestealer Cults, which is currently in development.
Wonder why people keep thinking GW is flat out lying and expect codex to be coming this year.

It's sad, but...
More realistically, and in no particular order...
My crystal ball predicts: Slaanesh, Fulgrim and the Emperor's children, Revamped Black Legion with Abbadabbadon, Angron and the World Eaters (good band name!)- of course no one really needs a crystal ball for those.
More controversially: Custodes Grav tanks, Agents of the Imperium/Rogue Trader/Inquisition codex(es), Plastic Guard regiments. Automatically Appended Next Post: Not all reveled here, but thats mote my general prediction for where the ranges will go.

You could easily argue (and my company would) that a new product is 'in development' until ready for release. Waiting on stock to be delivered to all needed warehouses & production of marketing materials ( WD & WarCom articles) can take up until release month.

Isn't Black Fortress supposed to come out at the end of the year? So I would guess a proper tease of what's inside. At least say something like "a medley of imperial heroes, including an inquisitor, rogue trader, and the mandatory primaris, against hordes of chaos lead by a well-know character", with a couple shots of the board.
New plastic sisters teases seem in order. They always put a couple new shots at every seminar. They could also tease a couple things from the upcoming CA codex (like a new AoF mecanics or whatever).
Otherwise, a big preview of the upcoming Ynnari army.

I was definitely hoping that that weekend was the shipping day of the Genestealer Cult codex tbh, especially given the FAQ broke the existing one on the basis that the Codex would imminently fix things. So if that's the announcement day (and it ships in Jan) that would be a shame.
Hopefully it's a bit more of a long term look at Q1 next year, and I'd expect to start seeing something about the Emperor's Children maybe, as Wrath and Rapture will be starting to build up the Slaanesh range. Either that or we'll see a bit about an Imperial Agents codex that ties into the Inquisition supplement for Kill Team.
Otherwise, I'm not sure we are going to have a "big" thing in Q1 tbh, I could see some more campaign boxes doing a bit of filling out of some holes in the range - maybe plastic lictors or Kommandos? A plastic ranger kit? (Those three seem especially incongrous as they're the obvious things that Kill Team players want too that do not have plastic kits and aren't carried in store.)

Sisters should be the Big Thing for Q1!
As well as Rangers they should also get on with Striking Scorpions for Kill Team!
Expecting some more Campaign boxes myself.

I'm quite looking forward to the Sisters thing. We've seen separate heads and bolters before. Now show us some sweet grenades, GW! Completely without context, but with fleur- de-lys pasted all over them!
I have my doubts that we'll see an Imperial Agents codex soon, even if it would be cool. Sure you could say Rogue Traders gave us something new for that and who knows what's in Blackstone Fortress, but GW doing something with Inquisitors... I'd rather wait and see it happen before I get my hopes up. With everything else that's presumably in the pipeline, any reveal a month from now seems too soon to me.
Slaanesh, on the other hand, could use a reveal sooner rather than later. Maybe we'll get Wrath and Rapture for the Weekender and previews of further Slaanesh releases to tie in with it.
The Phazer wrote:I was definitely hoping that that weekend was the shipping day of the Genestealer Cult codex tbh, especially given the FAQ broke the existing one on the basis that the Codex would imminently fix things. So if that's the announcement day (and it ships in Jan) that would be a shame.

I would expect the "big thing" of Q1 to be the Slaanesh releases for Age of Sigmar and 40k, opening with daemons in Wrath and Rapture this year because those don't need new rules and can just stay as a miniature release, with a new battletome and Keeper for Age of Sigmar and Emprah's Kiddies for 40k.
I don't think Kill Team is going to provide any real "big thing" by itself because of its scope. New Rogue Trader stuff? Can be released in one week. New Commander expansion? Can be released in one week. I'd expect that Inquisition for Kill Team, or introduction of heavy units, or a new Kill Zone, won't be any different. No matter the novelty, Kill Team releases seem like filler to me.
Too soon. I doubt we'll get anything* before May at best, more realistically second half of the year. A year ago GW didn't even realize there was demand for plastic Sisters, let alone started making any.
*With the obvious exception of beta rules and the announced preview Sister Superior.

I think he means as if it’s still In Development and not finalised, the lead time would mean it wouldn’t come next year.
But it really depends what they mean by the term.
There are a lot of things slated for this year still so I could see GSC being Jan.
Black stone, RoC, Christmas boxes, Underworlds/Kill Team things. Other stuff I can’t think of right now..

I’ve got my ticket, as I thought “it’s about time I went to an 8th ed event at Warhammer World”, and so I threw in Saturday as well.
What do I expect on the Saturday? Well, we know that the ‘Eavy Metal seminar is discussing how the Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress models were painted, so, based off that I’d expect this to also have a segment in the main “up-coming releases” seminar. ( https://warhammerworld.games-workshop.com/warhammer-40000-vigilus-weekender/?utm_source=Warhammer%20Community&utm_medium=Sidebar&utm_content=WarWorld08102018)
Seminars: We have a wide selection of seminars over the course of the Open Day on Saturday, including the ever-popular Warhammer Community and Design Studio seminar, which discusses the latest releases and, if you’re lucky, some early reveals! There is also a seminar with the ’Eavy Metal team, who will be fielding questions and discussing how the miniatures for Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress were painted, as well a session with the Design Studio’s artists focusing on drawing sketches. There will also be a seminar introducing the latest exciting updates to the events calendar.
Demo Area: Have you played Speed Freeks yet? What about Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team? Our demo area will cater for these games and more, including Necromunda, Adeptus Titanicus and, of course, Warhammer 40,000 itself. You can even try out Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress!
After that, we might get another sneak peek at another SoB render, and then I think it is likely going to be discussing how Vigilus is affecting the setting and any plans building off the events.
Spoiler wise, I’d personally be more inclined to lean towards first hints at GSC/it might go on pre-order that weekend. If it is going on pre-order/out then potentially we might see some more details regarding the supposed Daemons box set being released in the new year (was it Khorne v Slaanesh or something for AoS?) in terms of what some of the models might look like due to them being useable in 40k.
I can also see there being another 40k box set released ala Wake the Dead etc style.
Lots of things to be potentially shown, but I don’t know if most of it is overly exciting though.

Aside from the story being under the AoS banner on the site and with the Vigilus weekender focusing on 40k. Its just the way they seem to primarily talk about(and picture) fantasy stuff like Underworlds and "the world’s biggest Warhammer Age of Sigmar tournament", with mention of the 40k championship seeming like a bit of an afterthought. Nothing definitive for sure, but that's the feeling I got from the article. Either way its always cool to have previews of future additions to my pile of shame

One other thing that could hit in Q1 - we did hear that there might be a Kroot codex at some point.
Moving the Shapers, Krootox and Kroothounds to plastic gets rid of quite a lot of the remaining finecast in the Tau range, and GW could quite happily put a few more options on the sprues and make a small codex from it.
It's a relatively easy win/win.
