I'm filling up slots for my evil sunz outrider detachment, and I'm not really sure about the viability of the new buggies.

I can take 3 warbikers and 1 nob with big choppa. which gives me:

97points
-9 wounds split among 4 bodies at toughness 5.
-12 strength 5 shots
-9 strength 4, d1 melee attacks
-3 strength 7, ap -1, d2 melee attacks

The Boomdakka gives:

100points
-8 Wounds at toughness 6
- Minus 1 to hit
- 3 strength 5, d1 shots
- 9 strength 5, ap -2, d1 shots
- 4 strength 5 melee attacks

The warbikers are obviously much better at melee combat, and the boomdakka narrowly beats the bikers in ranged; however, the warbikers lose strength for each biker that dies and the Boomdakka has a tougher platform with that -1 to hit. Boomdakka has no close combat potential.

I imagine my goal with the outrider is to tie up enemy gunlines, so I'm not sure what the Boomdakka's role is except as a bullet sponge. Can anyone sell me on this thing?

Is neither an option?

BDSW doesn't do much of anything well and just three bikers have the same issue. Now large biker blob is different but you have to build a list around it.

I'm already putting in 2 MSU of warbikers with the defftrike. I'm debating on taking a 3rd MSU unit of bikes versus the BDSW. I'm taking a bonebreaker in a separate detachment, so my thinking is will it get too congested if I run that many units together within aura range of the trike, and whether or not I should take the BDSW as a shooting option that doesn't go into CC.

Bikes at least have role at screen Clearing they can do. But as you already have 2 3rd is not needed and the buggy is not good for points. Thus neither

I still gotta fill the detachment at the end of the day. The ultimate list is mostly boys, and the outrider is kind of meant to harass until they get there, which is why I'm running the bikes.

Not that it helps a whole lot but you are forgetting some things about the BDSW, namely the burna bottles that ignore cover and the fact that it can explode on a 4+ for some potential mortal wound shenanigans.

For that role I prefer Deffkoptas and Boosta Blastas than Snazzwagons and bikes.

Use the model with the Kustom Bosta Blasta's datasheet. Simple.

While the Snazzwagon isn't completely terrible, it doesn't do anything other models can't do way better.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

The Warbikes have TWO Dakkaguns each. That's 6 shots / bike, so 24 shots at S5.

Which is a perfectly fine way to enjoy the game

I haven't had the chance to study the Ork codex, but I would ignore tneva as he's just mad the codex isn't broken. So far it looks pretty good.
